What changes do YOU see with Froyo 2.2?

Since installing ive noticed my phone is extremely slower. My phone doesnt keep up anymore. Changing between apps, bringing up emails, even typing right now its having trouble keeping up. Anyone else?

is there any way to change the brightness level of the buttons at the bottom? They are really annoying at night.

It looks like there is real improvement in some areas, not just "it feels faster" as in a placebo effect.

Testing after the 2.2 Froyo update is in red:

I will try a few benchmarks with 2.1, then post after 2.2 update:

Battery time is so much better post Froyo!

Unplugged my phone this morning at 90% and after a full day at work with moderate to heavy use I am sitting at 70%!!!

Android system 96%
Cell Standby 2%
Phone Idle 2%

Up Time 48:33:32
Awake Time 6:41:34

And I am running a live wallpaper with no task killer

Which version of 2.2 do you have the official one that came out Tuesday or the one people got ahead of time? How do we get the right one i heard mine is .3 and the right oen is .6 My phone doesn't only drain slow it takes forever to charge too now.. And weird thing is my car charger went out I just ordered a new one to be here tomorrow.

But last night I noticed when the phone was just sitting on my desk the light wasn't on and it was plugged in. The screen had gone black and when I moved the phone the light came on and the screen came on too but then it went right back off. I just did a battery pull and waited a few and put it back in. At work it charged and the light satyed on and it seemed like it charged quick. Maybe it's my outlet here at home. I hope it's not my charging port. I'll see when I get my car charger tomorrow. I don't want to hard reset but I want this 2.2 verison 3 off and I want the one everyone got on Tuesday which I read was version 6. My friend got it the same time as me and he's having no problems at all. So it's not everyone. But besides draining quicker than before and seeming like it's taking longer to charge I am not having any other problems. Oh except for system putting everything back in there after I end it.

I think when we discuss battery issues or non-issues, maybe put in which hardware version it is. My wife on ver.3 seems to get more life out hers than mine. I'm running ver.2. Although I'm not experiencing the horrible battery life some are facing. Neither has performed a hard reset or running task killers but follow the advice of turning off gtalk and Sprint zone etc...

I absolutely HATE this in 2.2. Before, you could keep your inbox on phone until YOU decided to delete. There are lots of times you want or need to keep these. Now, they are just wiped out with no way to save once they are cleared from server by use of Outlook or any other mail program that clears the server. You would think they would have left this feature alone. Why would they make it worse by not allowing you the choice to save them or not???

There is no doubt the Froyo update suffers numerous issues.... one would have to be blind to not see all the threads... I hardly consider it nit-picking if people are losing functionality or their performance is degraded post Froyo. I have the benefit of having 2 Evos, mine has Froyo official, and my wife was smart enough to let all us all forge ahead and get all the bugs worked out first. I can honestly say that her phone performs better with 2.1 than mine with Froyo (battery life, non-jerky browsing, apps all ok, general HTC sense responsiveness) are all degraded with Froyo (not to mention my WiFi won't connect, see my other thread please). Considering a factory wipe as suggested, just having a tough time swallowing that pill, I'm sure i could do it in a half hour, the point is that I shouldn't have to. I think I'd rather go back to 2.1, is that possible without rooting? At least until a few of these issues are resolved.

@ bristowbs, my email is working fine. In fact, even better if you consider that I didn't have to use the manual method of adding accounts. Check your settings. I have noticed many threads stating that froyo changed some default settings of various apps.

@ sixwarzone, before the update came along I had resolved that I was going to do a factory reset, whether or not it was technically required. I knew it would be a pain in the ass, but with the amount of core changes being made it seemed like a "better safe than sorry" course of action. So I backed everything up and did the ota.

Then right after the update I decided that I didn't want to go through the hassle, so I changed my mind. After less than an hour of playing with the new froyo, I started to notice several glitches. My email wouldn't sync, my browser would crash, my phone would stutter, my swype keyboard wouldn't work... It was a huge pita!

So I quit my internal bitching, sucked it up, and did the full factory reset. Now my phone works perfectly, and I have come to the conclusion that the only way that HTC messed up this update was by not mandating a factory reset.

So if you are having trouble post froyo update, quit your bitching, suck it up, and just do the damn reset! If you still have problems after that, THEN feel free to bitch about HTC messing up stuff. Because, again, the only thing they appear to have messed up on is not requiring/including the factory wipe.

It's a pita, but I think you'll thank me later.

Just CLOSE YOUR eyes :p !!

Are you talking about the Home/Menu/Back/Search buttons?? I've honestly NEVER noticed them, even at night. Like I said, I tend to close my eyes at night ;)

But yes, I've heard that rooting can adjust that.

This is AMAZING as I never have anything even AS CLOSE to this with my phone. I don't get all hot-under-the-collar about the battery issues...I have 2 spares and a plug just in case and have a schedule where it is simple and convenient to plug in if necessary.

I have had my phone unplugged since 730am...it is now 1045am and I have 81% with light use. Just realized I had WIFI on unnecessarily like an idiot but nothing else really running that I know of. I checked services and I have The Weather Channel running. I also have a few email accounts check via K9 every 30 minutes but that's it.

But HOW are you getting SUCH GOOD battery life?? Doing anything special?? I've read the battery tips and refuse to go to CRAZY EXTREMES but I DO shut off GPS and WIFI and other type services when not used.

THANKS!

I still think there is a trickle charge issue where when plugged in all night and led goes green let's say 2am indicating it's fully charged the phone stops charging. So when it appears it fully charged it's really been slowly losing juice from 2am till 7:30am.

Sorry didn't provide a specific link, but a search on trickle charge will yield some results.

Besides the obvious lag issues, has anyone noticed that the call history will not delete all? I've tried this on several contacts and once i hit delete all, it sometimes leaves one or two calls!!!!!

Also, i've noticed that a contact that i have setup as a favorite and with a pic is now somehow showing without the pic and its just the number. I looked at my call history in amazement because how could that be, the person is already set up in my phone. If i look at the call history of just the number, it shows all the calls, because i talk to this person all the time. Where did this come from!!!

Sorry, i just dont believe this at all. Before the update, maybe...but now..no way. Good thing i work on a computer all day and keep my usb cable handy because my battery life sucks and thats with minimal use. (checking a few text and emails) For instance today, lets say i got to work at 9am (100% charged because of my car charger), it is now 11:52 east coast time and i am at 72%. All i've done today was check a few emails and send a few text. Before the update the only way i would be this low by now is if i was playing music the whole time. Needless to say i wont be turning the music player on...:-(

Go through and turn off all of the automatic updates. Your battery life isnt optimal and I can attest to an experience like his. Mine easily makes the day with moderate use.

your battery issues are not froyo related. more likely to be settings within you apps (especially the bundled ones)
or just your charging habits. i had to try every trick in the book to fix my battery issues, when solved, it turned out that it was just my habits...

no one has posted this yet that i saw, but you can resize widgets???? this is great. sorry if it was already posted. i didn't see it

No phone calls? What about display brightness? Something doesn't add up. I think your refresh update got stuck - which I've seen happen. Usually a reboot of the phone should fix it if not a replug into the charger.

Would one also have to be blind to see that not everyone has all of these issues.. just like some have bad battery life and some dont
