What do Y'all Think of the New Firefox OS Smartphone?

Not sure if this is the right section to post this, but I found the idea of a firefox smartphone quite fascinating.

Refer to article for more info on what i'm talking about, if you don't already know.

Moved to the Lounge. :)

As I don't care for their Android browser, I'm not trusting them to get an entire os or app ecosystem right, but that's just my personal opinion.

While I've not had the chance to delve into HTML 5, I can't see web apps being able to do enough in off-line mode to rival Android. Though I could be wrong.

EDIT: I just watched some Firefox OS videos on Youtube.. it reminds me too much of the iPhone UI. I think I'll pass unless some drastic UI changes are made.

Still, the selling point is supposed to be app developing flexibility via HTML5 and the fact that it'll be extremely streamlined without weird irregular version updates across different phone models. Also the cheapness of the phones themselves, I suppose. I dunno if they're unlocked though.

No doubt their apps and platform freedom will be every bit as wonderful as their browser's ability to work so well, and on so many phones.

Oh. Wait...

Doesn't Android also do all of those things as well?

Seems if there are lawsuits, it would be due to it possibly being identical to chrome OS or performing a similar function but not because of iOS or Android
