What features do you want on the Evo 2?

OMG this thread is too much!!! Thank you BlueScreen for all the information. All the cool things that will come from the dual cameras sound amazing. Now I'm thinking the EVO 3D may be capable of real HDR pictures and maybe even video too. That would be cool.

Now I can't wait to see what the physical phone looks like. I hope it is still simple and sexy like the original; I can't help but worry there will be some funky design element to spoil the look.

Thank you again BSOD!

Engadget has posted some specs about the EVO 3D.

we're looking at a 3D-capable successor to the EVO 4G, this one rocking a 1.2GHz dual-core processor (Qualcomm's MSM8660), a 4.3-inch qHD ( 960 x 540) display, dual 5 megapixel cameras around back, and the sweet, sweet promise of 1080p video playback. That's constrained to 720p for viewing 3D content, but there's no denying this new Sprint smartphone's shaping up to be yet another multimedia powerhouse.

EVO 3D specs confirmed: 1080p 2D video, 720p 3D, dual cameras, 1.2GHz dual-core CPU -- Engadget

So when are they going to open the EVO 3d part of the forum up so we can keep all the stuff separate from the evo 4g? (just so i can know where to look for new info faster, lol was not planning on getting a new phone this year b/c i love my evo.... but..........)

the evo3d is shaping up with great rumors... and if they pan out..
and with the succsses of the og evo...
and the tmobile down fall...
and everything else that HTC brings...
and the rumors/fact/myth that htc actually listens to their evo owners...
and htc supports its dev community and embraces it....not shun it...

my guess is that the last evo release day will be nothing compared to the evo3d... will be more than doubled...maybe 4x the demand.
and the lines will be longer.. but not as big as iphone release. still it will be very interesting. evo line is building a huge branding.

I will make sure I go to some remote Sprint store on release day. When was EVO 4G released? Like, exact day? I'm really hoping this comes out between May 11-24

This will either be the lines for the new EVO, or the riot squad heading to BlueScreens door if it doesn't turn to be true.

I was telling my wife about this phone and she really wants it. She just upgraded to an Epic about 2 weeks ago. Anyone know if we would be able to return her phone and go back onto her blackberry and then still be able to upgrade in June.

If she didn't upgrade 2 weeks ago we would have both been eligible for the upgrade in June (22 months) under the new Sprint Premiere program.

Thanks

Why?...LOL...I'm sure Best Buy will do another pre-order deal, just like when the original EVO was launched.

EVO was released June 4, 2010 (I believe it was a Wednesday because I remember a whole big argument people had about what days Sprint releases phones...LOL). BlueScreen already mentioned that initial projection was July, but now being pushed for potential June release, so current EVO owners that want to upgrade and are eligibile for full early upgrade can do so at that time.

Was joking about remote Sprint store. I'd like to pick this phone up before my trip at the end of May. Also, I don't shop at Best Buy. I've yet to see them give any better deal than Amazon or Newegg for anything I need. Best Buy is my try before I buy store. Go in look at it and see all the different options (did this with our TV) then went home and ordered on Amazon.

yes.. i think you can do that...

return the phone.. they will charge you a $35 restocking feel.. and your upgrade should be good to use for another phone.

you should confirm this with sprint!

I think I will close this thread and just start a EVO 3 predictions thread.

I kid, I kid. :p :D

TS

How about a "How can I preorder if I am not due for an upgrade" or "How can I get a discount if I bought an Evo on launch day" thread, lol.

What kind of discount does Sprint give after a year anyway? Anything?

finally after a long time , I am Back, And ready for some evo 3d. this is amazing guys!! Android,Sprint,Android forums and Bluescreen FTW:D:D:D

Whoa, nice to see the EVO-hype is just as crazy as it was when the Supersonic was merely rumors.

It's been a while, but I actually still remember a lot of the names here.

Wow, seems like were creating quite buzz today. I haven't even had a chance to show up yet, and we are still a day away from announcing anything. I want to ensure people that there is going to be no thunder, spot light, and anything of the sort to be taken away from EVO 3D, EVO View, Nexus S 4G, and a few others to be announced.

I think it is time to kick things up a notch though. I predicted EVO 3D would have some folks asking themselves what the hell? I think will move into a next phase called industry first.

I will have to correct myself on a earlier post about EVO 3D and 10mp camera. I don't know if it is going to be a correction, but clarification. I will go into that later.

First:
1) HTC EVO 3D will isolate twin cameras to produce the firsts 180 degree panoramic photo at 5mp resolution. (Option will be in sense UI)
2) HTC EVO will produce the first ever 10mp photo on cell phone by using what is called paralax photo capture (each camera will capture an image and over lay it to produce 10mp photo) (Once again tap on 10mp photo)
3) Light sampling will be independent of each CMOS sensor to produce what will be close to night vision capture (Night Owl)
4) EVO 3D Hollywood, EVO 3D is only device on the market with next generation Qualcomm processor's with built in DRM. EVO 3D will support all digital streaming content (Netflix, Hulu, and other independent sites with DRM subscriptions.)
5) YouTube 3D part of the EVO 3D Hollywood pack.
6) True 4G, EVO 3D will be the industry first (LTE+WimaX) device. Sprint has plans for all 4G devices to be backwards compatible and be able to support (Wimax+LTE) (Shift/Epic/EVO/etc.)
7) Will be the first none Nexus device to launch with Google 2.3.3 Gingerbread.
8) Worlds first qHD 3D display on a 4.3in screen (Pixel Density Classified)
9) Industry first dual channel 1gig DDRRAM and with active 4gig tri-channel ROM (5gig total Ram with unlimited ROM as SDcard will act as more like a HD drive)
10) That is just a few of the industry first that will be presented on EVO 3D launch.
There will be no thunder stolen, no spot light stolen, and no industry first stolen from HTC EVO 3D gram for gram this is undisputed superphone.

We will over clock the cpu, gpu, and memory to a point of embarrassment. Scorpion has had no problems testing at 2.0ghz, Andrenio x2 clocks, memory 50% clock. I know this would come at a cost to battery life, but larger battery will handle it better then current EVO. A phone launching the same time as EVO 3D will be irrelevant for at least one year. I think it best for companies to slow there roll and go with the flow and stay stock for the time being.
I wanted to launch EVO 3D July 4th for obvious reasons, but now it will be in June in celebration of EVO 4G one year anniversary.

Great info BlueScreen! Hopefully you won't be fired lol

am i the only one a bit bummed that the dev name of the Evo3d isn't as cool as 'supersonic'? id give 10 to 1 odds on it being adopted into cyanogen which uses the dev name of the device as is the CM convention.

I wonder how long it'll be before the wimax keys get enabled. It took #teamwin months to get the Evo working on 4g. Now pile on wimax plus LTE, and theres probably a serious pickle for an AOSP ROM.

I wanted to switch to sprint beginning a couple of weeks ago and knew I had to wait until Nov before I could but....... I will gladly pay my early termination fee to own this phone!!! Goodbye Verizon, Hello sprint and your TRUE unlimited data!

Looking at the link, Blue Screen was wrong about there not being space for the logos on the front too.

I'd like to hope I'm wrong but I'm seriously having doubts about his info. :-/

The only thing I doubt about BSOD is the fact they mentioned the form factor being little smaller then the EVO and not allowing for the HTC Sprint logo's on the front b/c of the screen. This is one thing I can't ever see being allowed to happen.
