last ngiht i was walking around my yard and stepped on something sharp, look down and theres a plant that very much resembles a cactus with its prickly spines, but it looks more like a common weed just growing.

based off the picture any idea what it is? cactus or weed/grass

It looks like a broad leaf weed. We get those all the time around here, they can be sharp or they can be flat and smooth.

edit: I could be wrong though, judging from the picture it looks slightly different.

We get these stupid weeds all the time here in Minnesota, we call them prickleplants (idk what they're really called, it's something I've been calling them since I was a kid.)

No different here. We would walk to the school and roller skate on the sidewalk however. We had two pair of skates to share among us all... but that's what the key was all about.

Melanie Safka.. yes. I always thought she was eluding to some pot she wanted to score. Key being a slang word for kilo and kilo being a common weight for pot at the time of the songs release. Might be wrong... I see it was her best selling single. Personally, I always thought (Lay Down) Candles In The Rain was by far her best work.

One step behind as always, I took one look and thought "Pffft....that's too easy to identify, Olbriar. Every kid I knew growing up had one of those.......Drafting scales.

It may seem rude and crude, but heavy gauge sheet metal stamping engineers / toolmakers are an interesting breed unto themselves.
One of the many things that made the SBC so successful was that thang' rootabaga showed us by the side of the road.
A fascinating discipline, some of the stuff that came out of post-war Germany particularly impresses. Sorry for the wretched pun.
