what keyboards are u guys using?

Just got it too. I like the way the letters are laid out with this new swype beta. Plus the dedicated voice key. Guess I'll play around with this for a while.
 
Is there an App that allows me to use Swype for Portrait mode and another keyboard (such as Gingerbread or Froyo) for Landscape?
 
Little hlep here...I downloaded the .apk for the gingerbread keyboard. Installed it. How do I actually select to use it. It seems like I still have the old one. Thanks
 
Just a mod note - pastafarian links directly to the developer of that app (Keyboard Manager), who is giving it away for free at that site - so this is also NOT a violation of our no-apk rules.

yeah I get this too. it also happens when you back space on a word and select a new suggested word. I found some of the auto punctuation doesn't work as well as the froyo keyboard. other then these things I am loving the new keyboard.

I am hoping the word correction is just due to it being a port and prediction had to be added.

Have him log on to the beta site I didnt get an email but tried to log on and I was able to get in and resend the email I never got.
 
Just got swype. Pretty impressed although I'm not a "power user". I may do 2 texts a month, mostly email & search. But so far it works pretty damn well. I don't understand why they're still in "beta".
 
Looks like Swype might have made another beta test "push" and a bunch of invites were sent out again this morning....

Yes, indeed they did send out more invites. :) I received my invite to Swype beta this morning and have installed it and am liking it, well except for the size of it. :mad: 10mb!
 
I mean how long is swype going to be in beta.... forever? Are they ever actually going to put out a version on the market that you can actually just buy?
 
Yeah, I've been liking it. I wish I could customize it a bit more, like making the smiley key permanent, but I'm liking it a lot.

yes forever, it will not ever be in the market.

swype is oem software only. meaning the phone needs to be sold with swype installed. like the epic 4g.

the evo was not released with swype, so we will never see it fully released. and it will never be available in the market. not unless swype changes their business angle.


anyway you are not missing very much. its only good if you only ever type in portrait, which is never for me. in landscape our screen is too wide to make swyping useful and taping the keyboard is terrible. not to mention the horrible word suggestion bubble. the stock android keyboard is leaps and bounds ahead swype IMHO. way more accurate and word suggestion/prediction is awesome. no real need for swyping when you can just voice text ;)
 
I mean I have a version that never expires anyway so its not that... the way that they handle it just seems silly to me. Since I started using the gingerbread keyboard I dont use swype anymore.
