What phone? (ATT)

So, my brothers turn to upgrade.

I got the captivate(atrix was unavailable and I wasn't waiting), my other brother got the captivate(decent sale).. now we have another upgrade.

I have trouble recommending the captivate again since now there are quite a few options.

I'm a bit hesitant on the Atrix since I've heard once the bootloader is unlocked, it is really easy to tell and can't be relocked.

I would prefer whatever phone he get be able to go back to stock in case we need to for whatever reason claim the warranty. Any idea what the options are?

Welcome to the AndroidForums, Snow_Fox.

There are lots of great phones out there now, with more always on the horizon.

Your best bet would be to get some hands-on time at your local retailer and then come back here and do a little reading on the various phones' forums to see what folks think.

I have heard good things about the Atrix, though, but there are always so many different things to consider and what might be important to one person may not be to you.

Anyway, good luck with your choices and we're happy you signed-up with us here at AF.

Cheers!

edit: LOL, I just noticed / realized that you weren't a new member (didn't see your post count right away)...you might want to try posting something in the Android Lounge forum where you'll get a lot more eyes and replies re. your upgrade options :).

Wait a couple weeks, the GSM version of the Nexus Prime just went through the FCC. That will be the best possible phone.

Hehehe, that's what happens when you stay up too late Snow_Fox. :D

I was going to toss a coin to decide between here or the AT&T section, but Android Lounge definitely sees more traffic per day so you'll get more responses here.

I actually have gotten in the habit of waking up at 4 A.M. to work out.. So although I have gotten a little of schedule staying up till midnight these days really messes me up. I appreciate the assist.

I know the nexus prime is coming out, however you have to keep in mind this isn't for me.

This is for my brother and he wants a phone relatively soon.

I was in a similar position when I got my captivate. The atrix was "within a month" of releasing.. However, unlike the prime, I figured there was no telling what bugs the atrix might have or how long it would take to get a custom rom on it.

Either way he isn't to keen on waiting. He is tired of the blackberry.

Also, if the Nexus Prime follows same plan as nexus s, it is a somewhat safe bet it will be almost identical to the galaxy SII..

It will probably be very similar to the S2, and the S2 is IMO the best phone available right now.
