MIUI is amazing. Prefer it to cm7 big time, and oddly less buggy too. And get similar quadrant score. And has USB tether. As others said, its like a new, vastly superior android phone which makes your phone look, feel, and operate better than any other handset out there, IMO.

cm7 has USB tether

Thanks for the opinions everyone...I am leaning towards MIUI.... but I'm flashing the 9/26 build for CM7... we shall see. At ay rate, big round of applause for our devs!
sidekick:)

Yeah I've noticed that my phone will blow up and die if it stays on for mor than 24 hours.. if I don't reboot it, it reboots itself. MIUI doesn't have this issue? :)

Sorry for the delay!

On all roms so far I would have random reboots. Miui 10/23/2011 ok so far, I have tweaked it and loaded (most of the same apks but not all) and zero reboots. That being said I haven't duplicated my previous setups completely nor have I totally stressed it as with the other roms yet.

OBTW: my phone would reboot stock when certain apps were added. Have fun with CM 7, I liked it but didn't like the reboots ;(.

I luckily have not had any reboots with any ROM. Maybe some of these phones are defective.

I do have crappy data speeds, no matter what I do... PRL changes, ROMs, nothing helps. I average 100 kbps down. On good days I may get 300 kbps.

well i just installed the recent CM7 rls. my first rom install yey! :o

only grievance i have with it is - my hidden ssid is not being recognized(?). other than that, everything seems to be normal - i installed the same exact appz that i had on my stock froyo ('used titanium backup. awesome app btw) and i made it look the same way too! so far so good. ive noticed my triumph being a lot snappier. i also love the extra setup menus/options.

having said that, i just did another nandroid and titanium backup. prepping my phone for MIUI! let's see how this one goes for me! :D

*** kudos to all the mt users especially the developers!!! people here are awesome ...and this forum rocks!!! :)

I am running CM7, if I wanted an iPhone, I would have bought one
Bahhhaahhaaa this is hilarious. I agree, that is why I wouldn't use miui. It's too iPhony (no pun intended). I like the look of cm7 cause I love how gingerbread looks. Just aosp ROM compromise too much for me. Which I say that, and of course every stock ROM I have built ends up buggy as well lol!! But it's all stock based ROMs for me, preferably my own :)!!

Have u guys even messed with Miui? Muir phone looks nothing like an iPhone. Well maybe iphone23s.... lol. Seriously the whole point is u can customize this thing to look and act how u want. U like the ASOP look then go ahead and make it look like that. been running for weeks at this point and there are no significant bugs I can speak on.

I think the complaint about being like the iPhone, isn't just about appearance. It's about not having an "App Tray" (or whatever it's called). Without an App Tray, it acts very much like an iphone. For example, all your icons are on the homescreens, if you delete an icon you actually uninstall it, etc. Even the pain in the a** process of populating folders is the same as iPhone. (but that's also the way it works in stock Android and even CM7). It is nice though that you can rearrange icons on each screen easily.

That said, if you are coming from an iPhone and prefer the way the basic interface works, then MIUI would be a good fit. But for me, I like the flexibility of how stock and CM7 works in regards to app management.

But still, as slick looking as the MIUI homescreens are, I'm just spoiled with the great features of Go Launcher EX, which I used on CM7. So in MIUI i have replaced the homescreens with it. Now I get the App Tray back (and better than stock or CM7), along with the killer feature, which is the folder management. So easy and fast to add and manage apps in each folder. :)

Exactly my point. You don't have to have that iPhone style if you don't want. You can change the launcher and still use all the features of MIUI. I change it all the time when I'm bored. It comes down to what you like. Personally I think stock android is very ugly and basic. When I first loaded Cm7 I thought "ILLLL HOW UGLY"

I was a big fan of Muiu but had to switch back to stock because of reboots and other glitches. I am currently running the 10/26 version of cm7 and have not had any issues at all so far and even if I did they would need to be pretty hefty to consider going back to stock. Still I plan on going back to Miui if and when some of the bugs have been fixed.

My personal opinion is that froyo is garbage so I avoid it like the plague however there are some very nice variations of the stock rom floating around.

I absolutely love CM7 as it has features and customizations that every stock rom should bring to the table. Battery life is leaps and bounds better than stock and the overall speed of the phone is far better as well.

That being said I like MIUI just that much more. The highly customizable theme engine built in, the fact that an app drawer is a thing of the past(you want it back go get Go Launcher), the built in data monitor, "it's" set of customizations (LOVE the battery bar option) and of course it's extremely sharp and utterly beautiful. The rom makes my triumph screen look incredible, icons pop, colors are gorgeous.

I have used both roms pretty evenly and I HATE having to choose one or the other. I really wish they could be melded into one(MIUI's look, feel, and customizations with all the CM7 options added in as well).

Also my personal experience has shown CM7 to be a bit more user friendly than MIUI but that may just be because I had only known "Android" as it was before MIUI.

CM7 9/10
MIUI 9.5/10

Just curious what bugs?

stock for now. once CyanogenMod 7 is out of the beta, I'm switching...

edit:
just checked some screen shot from MIUI, it looks gorgeous! So I think I'm going to try it out now, can't wait! :P

Could someone suggest the fastest way to backup/restore apps between ROMs? Currently I'm thinking of nandroid backup -> Titanium App+App Data backup(assuming system data backup could cause unwanted problems?) -> install ROM -> Restore App+App Data.
Does that sound about right? thanks.

Exactly. That's why the rom is called MY-U-I because you can change it to anything you want. Also it's not just about the look of it, Miui has a lot of great apps like the file explorer and the music app that tie in great to the OS.

i agree with bigvandal. i've had no bugs either. maybe try a fresh install and be sure to wipe data.

i thought the same exact thing when i flashed cm7 after using miui for a while. i only bought this phone because i saw the progress that isaac87 was making with miui.

Okay, Now I've tried both Miui and Cm7. Honestly I like both for different reasons and both have their quirks.

I have to say though I'm kind of interested in how it looks like Apple iOS and Android OS made a baby and it was called Miui...It's a bit to get used to but it keeps things interesting.

All you'd have to do is throw in card view from WebOS/ICS and maybe something from the Nokia MeeGo (SP?) perhaps BlackBerry Messenger and you'd have a hybrid of everything!
