Root What rom???

i want to flash my phone i am wondering what yall think is the best rom. i was looking at the Kings UNleashed Ultra Blakk R3 but opinions would be greatly appreciated. thanks
 
If you don't need 4g where you live I think the new miui is pretty damn sweet and it's a 2.3 rom. If you need 4g and a closer to stock rom I would try warm 2.2 rls5...

I'm hearing good things about Kings too but I haven't tried it. Warm was just that good...

That's all going to be based on preference. There's a thread dedicated to ROM's and Kernel's and also has all the dl links there as well. Check them all out, look at the change logs, see what's working and what isn't (the general rule is Sense based ROM's have everything working and AOSP ROM's usually have 1 or more things not functional). When you find a ROM you're interested in, search the ROM's name in the forum and I'm sure you'll find a thread dedicated to that particular ROM, and start asking forum members about their experiences. Good luck on the hunt and know we're here to help.
 
I started out with Myns Warm 2.2 but since have moved onto the new VaelPak 3.2 RC1. VP has given me the best experience on Android yet and no plans on trying another rom any time soon.

As frenchy said though, it all comes down to personal preference on your rom and what you are looking for.

i was the opposite lol. i started with vaelpak and switched to warm 2.2! i like them both but i like warm a little better.
 
mikfroyo and kings ultra are my two. lately i have been flashing a lot of roms (i'm a flashaholoic!), but i keep going back two those two roms. they are great sense roms, just super fast, stable, and smooth.

Ive tried about every sense based rom out there, and im currently using CM7 (aosp rom), and from what ive found, the biggest differences are in the form/function (like some roms dont have 4g working or gps etc) and the theme/layout... ive experienced a very large variance in battery life between roms, but that can be corrected by using the right rom/kernel combo(not all roms have the best kernel based on the physical build version of your evo), so long story short, do nandroid backups, and try em out :D im LOVING CM7(cyanogenmod 7) i think the release im on is the nightly 3.20.11, but anywho, its a stellar rom, and GREAT battery life!! This from a guy whos had really bad battery life on Konis Elite series 2.... Loved the rom, just not the battery life
 
Differences between rom's usually are in the theming, included apps and screens, apart from the base - Sense/aosp or Froyo/GB. In daily usage I just don't see much difference between say 2 Sense roms. There are some like MIUI which really do change the phone experience though.

In the end its all about the little things - whether its stable, everything works, and the added touches like animations etc.
