Note: This feature may not be available in some browsers.
as mentioned above, u need 3rd party app.
Willem Stoker has developed good ones, both for 2.2 and 2.3. The one for 2.3 also has a built in delay feature which i missed from my previous rom (now on cm7).
Highly recommended: https://market.android.com/search?q=willem+stoker
In your task use File > Copy File. Put the original path and name in the first box, then I'm the copy to box change the name:
Copy from currentwidget.log
Copy to currentwidget.txt
Each time you use the task it will overwrite the old txt file with a new one.
I'll give that a shot, thank you!
Others have already made a few answers to this, I'm just going to condense it for anyone else you might want to know (It's pretty complicated now, and I'm not 100% sure that Task 7 will work correctly, so cross your fingers!).
If you usually stream music through your phone, use this setup:
Context:
1) +>Event>Received Text (Type = Any, Sender = leave blank, Content = leave blank)>Done
Task
1) +>Phone>Send SMS (Number = %SMSRF, Message = I'm driving please call me)>Done
2) +>Audio>In Call Volume (Level=Whatever sounds best when you test it)>Done
3) +>Audio>Notification Volume (Level=Whatever sounds best when you test it)>Done
4) +>Audio>Media Volume (Level= 0)>Done
5) +>Tasker>Wait (1 Second)>Done
6) +>Misc>Say (Text = SMS from %SMSRF: %SMSRB, Engine = eng-USA, Stream = Call, Continue Task Immediately = UNchecked), If %BLUE matches ON> Done
7) +>Misc>Say (Text = SMS from %SMSRF: %SMSRB, Engine = eng-USA, Stream = Notification, Continue Task Immediately = UNchecked), If %BLUE matches OFF> Done
8) +>Tasker>Wait (2 seconds)>Done
9) +>Audio>Media Volume (Level=Whatever you want it to be when you play your music)>Done
10) +>Audio>In Call Volume (Level=Whatever level you want it to be normally)>Done
11) +>Audio>Notification Volume (Level=Whatever level you want it to be normally)>Done
Now go back an add Context
2) Whatever context you want to use to establish that you are in the car... such as +>State>Bluetooth Connected
EDIT: looking at the Tasker Google Groups, someone else was having problems with profiles not activating after the update. Apparently, the only suggestions are:
reboot
reinstall Tasker over current
Backup everything, delete, then reinstall Tasker
I have an application called GrooVe IP. It will allow you to make and receive calls through Google Talk. I have Google Voice which forwards to GTalk so this is can be used to save your minutes.
I prefer to use it only over wifi. I have free nights and weekends so I don't need to ever use this application during those times.
Contexts:
Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri
From 07:00-20:59
Wifi Connected
Task:
Load app GrooVe IP
Exit Task:
Kill app GrooVe IP
I cannot get the Tasker to kill the application. I have use root checked but it still doesn't work. Anyone have any ideas on how to get this to kill?
Also! I asked this question of Pent, and while I've gotten better at writing profiles (good grief, I have like twenty of them), this one stumps me. I want two sleep profiles that trigger at different times: one is all the time, one is every other Saturday (and cancels out the first profile). He suggested:
There's an action available to disable or enable other profiles. Have you tried adding an action to your Saturday profile which disables the "every day" profile? Then you probably need an exit task to re-enable it so that it can activate again.
Give that a shot?

I am using this method to turn profiles on and off:
It works well, but I'd like to have a different icon for whether the profile is enabled/disabled per this method. I've tried setting the widget icon in the tasks of the profile, as well as setting the widget icon as part of the tasks of the widget. Any help would be wonderful, thanks.
Thanks for writing back. You've tried the Set Widget Icon command and it didn't work? Because that's how it is done and that's how I use it and it works for me.
In your Enter Task set an icon, then in your Exit Task change it back using the same command.
If this isn't working for you, maybe posting your profile and task might help.
Also, are your custom icons in the correct location and the correct format? Can you select it through this command, or is that your problem? Try using one of the built-in icons and see if it works using them. That'll help narrow it down.
Only 20 profiles?
Anyhow, what Amlothi was hinting at is to use Tasker > Profile Status. But to do an alternating Saturday thing, you would need 2 Saturday profiles, which from your description is what you have. This way you don't use any variables.
Profile Sleep Saturday
Context is whatever:
Tasks:
- (whatever you want to do)
- Tasker > Profile Status, in the Name box put your Sleep Saturday 2 profile name. (If you already have it set up you could just select it in the list using the magnifying glass button), in the Set box choose On.
- Tasker > Profile Status, select the first Saturday profile (yes the one you are currently working in), Set it Off.
This turns this profile off and the other one on.
Then in your Sleep Saturday 2 profile:
Context is whatever:
Tasks:
- (whatever you do)
- Profile Status 'Sleep Saturday', Set: On
- Profile Status > 'Sleep Saturday 2', Set: Off
