What's a worthy replacement?

yep, its the only way. doesnt help from a customer service perspective though, although doesnt need to be anyone from leeds for that.

I do believe we just figured out what you need to do.
You looked about for what people think about their customer service?

For people who are concerned about the lack of a memory card slot for the Xperia S, you may want to read this. its not a perfect solution by any means, but it could be handy.

The lack of memory expansion on the Xperia S might be a problem (or frustration) to some, but there IS a way to add more memory if you're, say, wanting to watch a film on it (perhaps connected to your HD TV).

It's NOT likely to be particularly convenient when you're out and about, although it might be useful if you need to get data from another memory card (e.g. a digital camera) using a card reader - as long as it can be powered via the USB port. I could, for example, access photos from my DSLR and upload them to Dropbox via the phone without having to copy anything to the phone first.

I bought one here;

The signal map looks good but I too don't know.anyone on 3 and would need to find one.first

33 on 3, unlimited data, 500 minutes. 28 with 100 minutes which is probably all I need but paying 100 for handset only save 20 over 2 yrs.
Wife and daughter are both on 3. signal round me (west cumbria) is generally pretty good, not quiite as strong as Orange tho,.
BUT, big BUT 3 Customer service is absolutely AWFUL!

I've just finished my 24 month Contract with Orange and have moved to GiffGaff whilst I wait for hands-on reviews of the One-x. Initially I had planned to move back to Orange as a new customer to get the best deals with the new handset but I'm now having second thoughts as I am impressed with Giff Gaff apart from yesterdays outage. It may not be perfect but it is saving me a fortune.

Near a city centre.
The site says coverage is excellent, but when I was with them in used to lose signal all the time.
My mam is with em and usually has 2-3 bars.

I live in Birmingham and we have no 3G signal here on O2. 2G is fine.
I am on 3 and the signal and speed is fine - no issues at all. Getting 3GB a month for

Well, i've had Phones4U on the phone a few days ago as i'm due my upgrade since last week, before they had the chance to offer me a Fruit based phone i told them i was after the HTC or Sammy, they said they would call back when they had pricing/stocking info etc, and that they would be able to better any "shop" deal if i was to do the normal in and out of shop with new phone.
They now have contracts up on site, and looks like if i stay with Orange i can get it online for

I have exactly the same issue. I can upgrade on the 22nd next month. Just in time for the 1X.
I love the specs, but like most others, the fixed battery is a concern. But I've always been a fan of sammys hardware. I read that the GS3 will have an micro arc oxydation case like the 1S. This I feel is a better case than the polycarbonate of the 1X.

I think I'm going to wait till the official specs of the GS3 are revealed before I upgrade.

My Fiance wants a physical keyboard to replace her Hero. I dont think she could go to blackberry after Android. Looking at the Moto Droid pro from Verizon as it also supports GSM...

could you use a Verizon phone in the UK? I thought Verizon was a US network.

Looking at some other deals, Dial a phone are doing 12 month contract on the One X, 500mb data, 300 mins, and unlimited texts @

In general you can't use Verizon phones in the UK, as Verizon use the US CDMA standard which doesn't exist in many places outside North America, and nowhere in Europe.

However, the Droid Pro is unusual in that it supports CDMA, GSM and UMTS in a single handset. So this one is the exception to the rule :).

Now whether UK networks have roaming agreements that will let you use it to the full I don't know, but technically this phone can do it.

If you look at the frequencies, it has 900, 1800 and 2100. Read a post about someone who bought one to use in UK (read a few actually) so assume it has a SIM card slot.

But in answer to the question, yes it works fully in the UK (im not stupid enough to overlook these things you know? ;) ) but a milestone 2 would be my preference for her.

Oh yeah, I know :D

Actually I was thinking the other way round, whether you'd be able to use it on a CDMA network in the States without a Verizon account. But what you say about a SIM slot does vaguely ring bells with something I've read somewhere...

I'm only guessing, but as CDMA have no sim, the device ID (SID?) Must be added / allowed and associated with an account to work.

my contract with Orange runs out on 7th April so I can upgrade any time now, the trouble is I want to lower my monthly payments but still would like a new phone as my Desire is definitely startring to get clunky plus buttons are not working properly. I must admit the Nexus is really appealing as I think/hope it will get firmware updates quicker than say the SGS2 will. For ease, I'd like to try and just get a good deal from Orange but looks like they don't do the Nexus so I'm going to have to shop around and Orange's signal has gone crap lately. So far I've found a good deal on O2,
