It's been this way with o2 since the original iPhone release. Apple made them keep it a secret but they always do it now. On release day, the HTC desire was in stock when you got through to one call centre and the other had never heard of it. In trying to order it, we all had to keep phoninf until we got through to the call centre that knew about it

I've been thinking about the Ascend....

I wanted an SD card slot, I've I've got a nice new 32G card, but with the 1X having 32 internal, this seems a bit redundant. And recent SD card issues have put me off external storage.

I love the cpu specs of the ascend, but the 1X is no slouch.

Now the camera is a biggie for Mr, and the 1X really seems to shine here. I an however concerned about the battery. Both size and fixed being an issue. Had the ascend got a fixed battery?

For me its 1X for the camera.
Ascend for the battery.

I might end up going for the 1X as I'm an impatient bugger....

She genuinly seemed pretty dense and didnt have a scooby!!

Just waiting for delivery of my new HTC one S, have 2 accounts with Vodafone and my wifes was up so tried to haggle over a good deal, Vodafone couldn't beat an offer I got on-line so asked for my pac, placed my order when a rep rang from Vodafone to ask why I was leaving, told him the reason and he said he would price match the current deal and as a good will gesture he will let me upgrade my phone as well, my contract wasnt due to finish until the end of June, so we get 2 new phones on a 300 mins a month, unlimited texts with 500mb usage for

My vodafone contact is up in 22 days, and I can get 25% off monthly bills through my work with orange. So going to see if vodafone will match their price. If not I'll be leaving vodafone for orange.

I did that with my desire, and 3. Vodafone where on the phone the next day practically begging me to come back to them LOL

Yes indeed. Although there must be a reasonable compromise, you can't easily have both

That's why we have pc's, laptop's & tablet's for larger screen size, but then its usually the phone that is always on you so like you say we compromise.
Still the 4.7 inch screen size seems a good portable size.

i can tell you catagorically that the camera on the 1x is shocking.
tbh its only good in certain lighting situations like the desire.
if you are getting this phone for the camera you will be bitterly dissapointed

I'm certainly not saying your wrong Rasta, I just find that very suprising given the hype surrounding the camera, and the image sense dedicated chip....

Bugger I REALLY don't want to wait any longer...

To be honest I've always been very happy with the desires camera.

its ok, they believe their own hype and it cannot handle brights very well
this maybe subject to change but from what ive seen its not much better than the desires
in dark situations its still got blue tinted led flash too which distorts colour and makes a bright circle around the object you are taking a picture of.

video recording was still jerky too

im very dissapointed with this phone in every way

i dont get the privileges i used too any more, i burned that bridge last year after inadvertent fame caused by me showing off i had a desire S to play with. seems my one was a little special and HTC knew about it and tracked me down. the stats i quoted were much different to release.
i learned that lesson the hard way
however i have other friends in other businesses, im guessing the sensor they are using is still the standard one they use on their other new devices and theyve tried making it better by tweaking the software. they need to learn that you need a good sensor in the first place, something samsung and sony know very well

all the reviews ive read on it say the camera copes reasonably in normal lighting conditions. and performs well in good lighting conditions. this was and is the case for most of htc's phones
i expect more from this phone considering its price tag

unfortunately for me it seems you pay a lot of money for a device that is basically beats, quadcore, sense that ruins an already very good ICS on a sealed unit
not a fan of htc with this direction theyve gone.

the huawei d quad seems to be getting more and more interesting after reading that :)

Although I'm still intrigued by the Padfone

Poo...

Thanks for the cons. After hearing so many hyped pros, its good to hear the other side of things. I do agree about the desire flash not being very good. I've noticed this a few times.

looks like I'm going to just have to wait. I just wish Sammy would release the official specs for the SGS3.

If I'm going to spend the better part of £40 pm on a phone for the next 2 years, I want it to be spot on, with everything. Not just quite close.

Andy

Seriously doubting my OneX pre order now........but only on 12 month plan so only have 10 months till next upgrade so can possibly live with it for that long if it's that bad.

If its only a pre order, can you not cancel?

Could do, but then what would i get instead.......SG3 isn't looking likely anytime soon, my Desire has now gone to be loved by someone else.......and i'm sitting here with a Samsung E1120  to see me through until the OneX was released.
