What's a worthy replacement?

D Quad hands on.

Huawei Ascend D Quad hands-on | Android Central

Interesting comments about the Chinese government using Hawei products to spy on other countries LOL

The launcher looks pretty slow on that, hope that's software rather than hardware issue as older videos show the phone running total stock ICS and running it very smoothly. The launcher didn't look too nice either but thats easily fixed with Nova/Apex etc.

If they just add a launcher then that's easily replaced, hope they don't start touching other areas though.

Be interesting to see how it performs when its releases.

Finally realised I can't afford either a GS3, or an Ascend. Or even a 1X. Now looking at a GS2. Great I'm upgrading to LAST YEARS phone.... Talk about a step back. I'd be lucky if I can afford that. Knowing my luck I'll end up worth a Nokia 3210.

How the mighty have fallen.

Now leave me while a curl up in a corner and cry...

There is rumors of the One X getting a price cut once the s3 launches, prepare to dry your eyes & pray.:D

I like that approach Hadron! I've long wanted Android phones to be running Android and not have shed-loads of stuff added by the operators. Why don't O2, Voda, EE and 3 just get on with running their s*dding networks and leave our handsets alone?

And hopefully by cutting out the middle man the prices would come down too.

As an outright purchase, sure but don't forget those of us who get "free" handsets on contracts are essentially buying the devices subsudised so those who still cannot afford the cheaper full price outright may still be missing out.

Well the choice has been made......

As a happy compromise between specs, and price, I'll be taking delivery of a shiny new white Galaxy S2 tomorrow.

Yeah I know it's last years flagship, but when it comes down to it, there's not a great deal of difference, not for me anyway, between the S2, and S3.

Still an awesome piece of kit, and if I was to upgrade last year, this is what i would have had.

Seems a bit much for last year's phone.
Considering my Xperia S is 28.50 for :
600min
Unlimited texts. (they say unlimited, more like 3000 p/m)
1gb net
Free BT wifi when out and about.
Phone for free

Aye I know, that's what I've always done since day one. But I dropped O2 this week and got myself all GiffGaff'd up, so I may be looking at a different strategy for my next upgrade.... that's if the missus lets me. :D

only thing the Experia has going for it as far as I can see is the camera. The rest is average at best to me. Personal choice I guess. The S2 ticked pretty much every box for me.

Got myself a 3UK pay as you go. 15 quid, 300 mins, 3000 texts unlimited data. Not as good as giff gaff but if the signal is ok, will pac my o2 number over (code already received) use that for 3 months until the d quad then contact with 3.

Hoping 3UK signal is good as I don't have a plan b. Would giff gaff if I could buy a handset but I.can't

I've just ordered a giff gaff sim card, but I'm also looking at the same

I got a 3 sim to test the signal where it matters to me. I got payg to test but I will not stay payg. As soon as a handset I want is available, I will be going straight back on contract as I cannot afford to buy one.

That's why I haven't gone to giff gaff

Right, its done.

Signal was fine. Had to top up to find the internet responsiveness. It was good also.

PAC'd my number over. Thats it, I'm gone from O2.

Now my only worry.... Did that blip in November when I went from Weekly pay to Monthly pay cost me on my credit rating? Will I be able to get a new contract? Arrggghhh

Either way, there was no way I could stay with O2.

It cost you your credit rating? how come?

i considered going with "3" but the idea that i know nobody on it puts me off somewhat

Well I've got till October to decide, and I'm in a very lucky position that my mate works at voda and gets me a discount, so hopefully by then ill know what's worth having! I must admit though that the s3 would be my choice at the minute, but i am put off by the older processor. We will see.

Sorry, when I mean pay, I mean my income. I went from self employed, paid weekly to permanent.paid monthly. I had 1 week pay to last me a month and a lot of bills got.messed up
