What's for dinner ?

Longhorn was our go to steak house for years. We were disappointed once too often and now it's the Texas Roadhouse. I far prefer preparing my own steaks to any eatery. I know exactly how I want it cooked. It's still fun to have an evening out now and then however.

Talking frozen ready to roll dinners, I revisited an old family favorite tonight. I bought and baked a Stouffer's meat lovers lasagna tonight. It wasn't nearly as good as I remember the meal.

We got that same Lasagna a few weeks ago, it will be the last time :wtfdroid:👎

Sorry to hear of the Stoffers, I like that one myself.

Yesterday I went to our local Kroger's to get rib-eye and taters and it was a nightmare !

The bags of precut salad mix was all brown.

The bell peppers were small and way overpriced, the avocados were smaller than lemons and way overpriced.

The baking potatoes were small !

The steak selection was almost none, there were 4 individual wrapped steaks, two were ok looking the other two looked like scraps. They were 15 dollars apiece.

I usually buy the 3 pak of steaks and they only had one of those and it was almost 50 dollars ! ! ! !

Guess times are changing ....

The prices are a hit below the belt. My wife often has one of their little premade salads for lunch. They have been nasty the last month or so. I can still afford to eat but I can't help but be bummed when shopping and the checkout total is always a shocker. It has to be extremely tough on young families with entry level employment and multiple mouths to feed!

Used to be nothing better than a plate of Italian sausage with a big pile of cooked onions and bell peppers on it.

I had to give that one up, my gut complains too much, to eat it anymore.

One of my favorite sides to cook is kielbasa sausage slices with onions, peppers, and some bbq suace.
I like to smoke it while the main entree is smoking. I cheat and use the kroger brand frozen 3 pepper and onion blend. The blend has the flavors I'm after but treats me far more kind than fresh.
