Whats the point..

Ok this is for all the people that bought the Evo V 4G and don't live in a place that is 4G capable. whats the point of buying a phone that has faster speeds but you can't fully utilize and reap it's benefits? Why would you spend that much money on something you cant fully use? You could have saved your $279.99+ and got another phone that you could fully utilize its capabilities etc.. I'm not trying to be a mood killer but i'm just wondering

Just because one feature isn't usable, that doesn't negate the entire product.

No we probably don't fully utilize every feature, that doesn't change the fact that it's a fast, high end phone that simply kicks the behind of everything else Virgin has to offer in pretty much every way. Games run faster, apps run faster, pictures are better than any other Virgin phone, more storage, bigger screen, longer battery life...

By the way, surfing on 3g is actually faster on this than other phones because it renders the pages faster. A lot of the lag you get on slower phones isn't the connection, it's waiting on the browser to render the page. So while I may not have 4g, my 3g feels faster. Actually, my 3g IS faster now too, not sure why, but speed tests show it's almost double what it was. You could actually call my internet on this phone snappy.

Exactly, Leslie Ann.

The biggest feature when the Evo 3D came out on sprint was (obviously) the 3D camera. But to me it's just a useless feature of the phone that I won't really use.

The 4G is another part that I'll probably never use. But the phone itself is the best model on Virgin Mobile at the moment. The closest competitor on VM right now is the Triumph, but the glitches that plagued it aren't present in the Evo V (at least not on the unit I have).

So I didn't buy it for 4G, I ddin't guy it for 3D. I bought it because it's a powerful, well built phone.

that's like asking "why by a Lamborghini if you can't ever drive it at 175mph all the time".. i'm pretty sure 4G will be the norm in the near future, but i would guess most people that bought this phone did for the spec's,it's the best pre-paid no contract phone out there.

Ok i see your points. But maybe its just me. If i cant utilize each and every single thing that's there to offer i'm gonna go get another product that i can utilize to its full potential in every aspect. Like if i couldn't use the 4G on the Evo V i would be moving to boost or Straight Talk or one of those companies that has the same specs minus what i cant use. And if i do everything right i could have a phone just as fast as a Dual.
Like if i had a Lamborghini i wouldn't buy it just cause it look good if i cant drive it and use it at its maximum potential then i'm just not gonna buy it cause its like a waste.

And as far as the speeds of the phone I don't know about y'all and what phones y'all had but my Motorola Triumph 3G connection could load a page in the snap of a second and gave me 16 hours of Use with some customization.
But like i said that's just me

Using the op logic, why buy any Sprint WiMAX device since it's going to be useless by 2015? As I've posted before, take out the 4G and 3D and show me an unsubsidized Android device with similar specs for the same money. Btw I live in a 4G area but like others have posted my 3G speeds are way faster than my Triumph ever had. Unlike the Triumph which had hardware you couldn't use no matter where you lived at least this device works out of the box even if you happen to live in an area where you can't take full advantage of it.

not a single product in existence is marketed to 1 person. the idea is they throw in as much random appealing stuff as they can, and whatever sticks, great. no one will ever use every feature on every phone. i dont use facebook, yet i have all this facebook integration in a lot of apps etc. i never use bluetooth, but should i not buy the phone because i dont use bluetooth? i dont use my camera really at all, so should i wait to find a phone that doesnt have a camera?

you arent paying more because it has 4g. youre paying less because it has 4g. this phone offers a lot of features that a large number of people will enjoy. the high specs, the 4g, the 3d etc. no not everyone will use everything, but its because it has everything that virgin mobile decided to put this phone in their lineup and subsidize the price. if you were going to just go buy a brand new evo 3d stock, itd be more than 300$. the larger amount of features the phone has, the more customers it will bring in. virgin doesnt make money selling you a phone, they make money on your monthly plan.

My car can go 160 mph, but I don't live in an area where I can drive 160 mph...I still bought the car for the other benefits.

No product is marketed to just one person but it is Marketed to one cluster of people fulfilling their needs Electronic wise like, People need a long lasting battery but don't really use a camera so they stick with a certain phone that gives them just that. But i was talking Hard ware wise and not the bloat ware they have, you can easily disable/delete facebook and its counter parts. And yea i know that VM dont make money of that. Most of that money go to Google and HTC and who ever help made the product but if you don't use most things why waste money on the new things if you not really gonna use most of it. Thats like buying a pair of shoes just to look good knowing you not really gonna wear them for that long.

Stick with your MT if you're satisfied with it. I wasn't satisfied with data speeds as well as the phone, that's why I got it.

If your phone meets all your needs then you don't have to upgrade. Just because it's the latest and greatest and everyone else is getting it doesn't mean you have to.

The more a phone has to offer the better. Regardless if I use it or not atleast imbgetting more for my money. I do not live in a 4g area so I have no use for it, however I still love having it because if I ever am in a area that I can use it then its there. The 3d is not needed however its a great additional feature to play with when wanted so why not. Regardless if you use it or not atleast you are still getting more for your money. The evo v is perfect for me, large screen, 4.0, love the camera button, high end specs and Its fast. Everything I would want plus more. It's always been my top favorite phone and now I can have it with no contract and 4.0. I had the triumph since it was released till the evo came out. The evo is better in every way and even on 3g its worlds faster. Also records great videos rather then the annoying motion blur with the triumph. So yea... No 4g in my area is far from a deal breaker.

Well isn't it up to the buyer to know if they have 4g capable area to begin with if that's what is so important? I mean if you bought the phone for 4g and didn't check your area for coverage first and that was your main goal for buying it then wouldn't that be your own fault? That was first thing i did was go and look up coverage area for wimax in my area and it is solid dark blue all over lol. I dunno if OP purchased one or not if not and your so happy with your Triumph then by all means stick with it then, But if you did buy a evo V for 4g capability and are QQ'n about it now cus your area doesn't have it then that's kinda your problem for not knowing that lol.

Basically what im' saying is you buying a phone that is 3G capable,4G capable, has a 3D camera, Dual core and made by HTC. It's more like you want the phone just cause of the name brand but not using it completely. Where you could have just as well bought a HTC phone with a 8 MP camera, A dual core pro. and you will have your speed and everything that you need in the phone without the thing you wouldn't need or use.. In just a man that dont like to waste money and put everything i have to its full use. but like i said before that's me

BTW this wasnt about me I just asked cause i heard about 10 of my friends bought the EVO V and tripped out cause they wasnt in the WiMax area and they all upgraded from the Triumph. Im getting the phone just cause my triumph is busted even though it still has speed to it.

I had the Optimus V like many here. It was a great Android starter phone and with Vm's pricing for unlimited data, it was great. I soon found I lacked space on the device, no Flash for the marginal camera.

Now comes a modern Android device, ICS, 1G internal storage, dual 5M cameras with LED's, front facing camera, bigger screen. Yes, it is expensive but it is a dream come true! I love it!!! (and don't have 4g and not supper impressed with the 3D stuff).

People buy what makes them happy. the Evo V and a lamborghini do not make you happy, thus you will NEVER own them.

Lots of other people, however, are very satisfied owning a fast phone and a fast car even if they cant use them all the time. its not a waste if the persons self satisfaction and enjoyment are higher than without the thing they want.

so there. u dont like the Evo V. i get it.

^ You cant do that on virgin mobile, there is no other higher power alternative to the Evo V on VM. It doesnt matter if it has 4g or 3d or a built in projector, its the only high-end phone available. End of conversation.

I believe its 4 GB of internal storage just like other HTC's

Well I will admit that I partially bought this phone because I live within half a mile of a 4g tower. But 90% of getting this phone was for the screen, and the sheer power of this device. That being said, I rarely leave the 4G on. 3G is slower but it still does the job for me most of the time. If you'll notice how Virgin was advertising this phone, they never pointed out the 3D, and 4G wasn't a huge deal. The big deal was that AN EVO OF ALL THINGS was coming to a prepaid carrier for $35 a month with technically free wimax.

Ok , i Just wanted to pick at y'all brains and see what yall thought. But How many of yall have the sprint branded EVO V??

Exactly. In a perfect world, we can all make our own custom phones and customized plans. In the real world, there are only so many options.

If you have a tv... do you use the antenna features? Some people do, but most don't. Does that mean they shouldn't buy a tv because it will work with an antenna? Of course not, since there are plenty of other features on the tv they like, and they probably won't find one that doesn't work with an antenna anyway.

I get what the OP is saying, and in most cases, you should make decisions based on attempting to maximize the match between what you want and what you get. In the world of prepaid android lovers, we just don't have that many options.
