Help Whats your beef with the X?

Sounds defective to me. I would exchange it when they get new ones in. Get rid of motoblur by installing Launcherpro to deal with any lag. It is much faster and has no lag. No support for Blur widgets yet though.

Ok. I will take to BB for exchange but I have to wait until new shipments come in. Verizon said getting store shipments by the 27th, but BB doesnt know when the next ones will come. I may return to BB and rebuy from verizon... sucks.

awesome. Downloaded and installing. However I will be replacing my phone. is there a way to remember, store, backup or save the home screen settings, apps i downloaded etc? Or if i start new, i start new.

You can backup in preferences to the sdcard.

A little overly dramatic don't you think?

1. To be fair VZW as added apps to EVERY phone they ever put on their network. You shouldn't be surprised to find it on the X. I'll also bet you every carrier does it.

2. Just like your beloved Droid it needs rooting before we can remove them JUST like EVERY android phone out there.

3. None of those apps listed except CityID are even doing anything. If you don't want them ignore them until the phone is rooted then remove.

4. The one BIG BEEF I have with the bloatware is apps that nag you once their trail period is over and yet you can't delete or turn it off, CITYID anyone. When that happens we should all take our phones to VZW and demand them to turn it off , remove it, or buy the app for us so we can shut it up. But at this time I don't know if maybe Moto added an option to uninstall or stop the nag, we'll see.

So Shame on you for making a stink about something you know damn well was going to be there, and what it would take to remove them, when you bought the phone.

I actually think this is a big deal too. I don't wanna see these apps in my app drawer and its the only reason I wanna root. We should at least have the option to remove them and shame on YOU to defend the companies that do this. Its like computer companies not letting you remove all the garbage they preload. Even microsoft will let you remove stuff like internet explorer (no not completely but close enough).

And noone is gonna choose their phone based on the amount of bloatware and there aren't so many alternatives.

What's also very annoying is the two undeletable bookmarks. I've never seen that before.

I have an IMAP account and my yahoo account. Neither would push so I needed K9. Also the sound quality is really poor especially on pandora. I know pandora streams and all that but on my BB curve i was able to play very high quality pandora streams and now i cant even listen it it its so poor even on high quality settings :(

Ive seen the same thing on another droid x.

And yeah ive listened to both side by side on a Hi-Fi home audio system.

This isnt just a phone and in a device like this i shouldnt have to make a compromise when there is 32 GB possible of music space. CMON man it should sound better than it does

Hmmm I was trying to go to k9 and to stop the old mail client from also getting the mail I turned off some stuff and it made push email stopped alll together. sorry forget exactly what it was. Once I setup k9 and told it to turn back on the services it worked. So maybe you accidentally turned off some background services. Did it pull mail if you did a manual sync ? If so I'll bet some background service was off. Don't know for sure at this point though.

Pandora streaming doesn't sound the best but I don't expect it to but for me on high it ok. Can't say about the quality on your old phone I never had it so I'll take your for it. but streaming apps never sound as good IMO

and last but not least again my test tell me it plays back non streamed music and sounds better that the touch and it is a phone #1 after all. Even if you think it's not quite as good it certainly isn't "Very Poor" compared to the touch which is a dedicated music device.. You should be bitching at Apple for having a Music device that doesn't sound any better than a phone.:D

Thanks for not taking my comments the wrong way and good luck with the phone.

How did u get the ringtones from ur old phone onto the Droid? I like the phone, but have three problems. The ringtone for incoming calls is too weak. The notification alerts are weak as well, and only sound once. I also seem to have a problem with static when on a phone call. People can hear me, but I get static and cutting out. I think it is going back shortly, but don't know what to get. Help

Shame on Me? LOL The Carriers (ALL OF THEM) have been doing it forever you know this going in so quit acting like your owed something when you find soomething you knew was going to be there.. "Oh I see Amazon mp3 app in my app drawer GOD forbid!!!" LOL Never mind the other 200 you could look at instead. Frankly I think those complaining about this sound like spoiled brats, "I want I want I want". gezzzzz If you really want to make a statement take it back, tell them you are returning it because you don't like the 3 apps they have on it you can't uninstall. Then ask them to give you a phone without any bloatware. You'll be leaving empty handed. Get over yourselves. You'll be able to remove them soon enough.
Oh and just try to remove IE from windows. Have fun with that.

Recieved the update last night. Havent really noticed any improvements. The phone has restarted once, certain applications take awhile to open. Overall this phone has alot of major problems. Now I'm not getting email notifications. I'm seriously thinking about returning this phone & going back to my droid. So far the X needs alot of work. Definetly not worth the $550 bucks I paid for it. X is far from mind blowing.

1. Double tap for standard zoom in browser like iphone. For text bigger than standard zoom, zoom to the size text you want and double tap on the zoomed text. It will then fit the text to your screen. This is something iphone does not have and really bothers me when I use an iphone browser as well as the lack of kinetic scrolling.

Really wish this worked on all pages (as it did on the EVO). Instead, mobile pages (e.g. Google sites) are a no-zoom zone for the DX. And other site are hit or miss (I think depending on other formatting on the sites).

Just because everyone does something that doesnt make it ok. And no one will return a phone over this but it is very annoying. If it doesnt bother you, good for you but for some of us its annoying. Its actually 8 apps i would like to remove, not 3, and if you ever check a task killer, you will see them in your memory.
Microsoft has been sued by the government for making IE a part of their OS. Now you can can easily remove every shortcut that points to IE with the click of a button. It wont ever start up or use any memory.

I almost forgot number 7. The speaker phone/ringer volume is WEAK! Not even half the volume of my last phone, the original Storm. I'm going to have to keep that phone as an alarm clock.

Called VZW to complain about ringer volume and he said he checked his database on complaints they pass to Motorola and said it has not been reported. If you have issues with the volume like I do, besure to pass it to VZW so they can tell Moto.

Beefs are pretty few but the wifi is a big one.
- I can't use the wifi in my house because my signal strength reads poor or fair whereas by ipod touch and laptop read excellent. Hopefully an update will solve this. Is this an issue with every X or just a select few? Not sure if I should return it to see if I get one that picks up wifi better (if they exist) or just wait for an update.
- I wish my emails would push like sms.
- I can't click on images from mobile search engines like google or yahoo. I have to go to the standard google or yahoo page to click images but the standard pages look like garbage on xScope.

That being said, I really like the X. This is my first Android device and I love searching the market looking for widgets to customize my screens. So much better than having to open the application to see information that can just be viewed on your screens. Putting some time into these phones and you can really have a slick looking device.

Of my beefs I only really care about the wifi. The other things are minor.

2. The screen should turn off when you are making calls and hold the phone near your face. If it doesn't the phone is defective.
3. You can disable facebook contact syncing. Go to settings then sync.

No. 3 was possible with the Moto Droid, but I do not have the option to sync unders settins with the Droid X. I open Facebook app, choose settings and sync isn't there?

What am I missing here?

I also can't even figure out how to upload a picture from my phone in a simple message to a friend. Can this be done at all? I can upload to a wall, but sure don't see how to just do that sending a message instead. Anybody?

I also am not thrilled with the sound. The Moto Droid was much better IMO. Sometimes I don't even hear the phone ring in my pocket. I hope this is something to do with the software and can be corrected, but it could be a hardware issue and we are stuck if we keep the phone?

Look for the power control widget and put on your homescreen. Make sure that the autosync button is on (circling arrows).

I enjoyed surepress a lot too. The X does have multi touch.

I'm coming from just the storm 1 (never thought it was worth the jump to 2).

Thanks for the tips... loving the phone and have enjoyed getting to know it over the past month.

I received mine last week with a Dark Spot or Dead Pixel in the upper right hand area as well as a small chip in the screen along the RH side as well...

Of course I'm awaiting another but by the time I receive it I may have mastered this phone :)

So far my only complaint is the short arse cord that came with the charger...which brings me to a question. Could i use any mini usb cable for that? i guess i could just try it and see.

other than that i need to learn my way around the phone a lot more before i start my list. This is my first Droid.

the pics on my satisfies me. although i'm used to a 2 click camera button.

You can use a usb extension cable between the charger and stock cord, I've seen the from 4ft. to ???. 4ft. is perfect for use behind my dresser and not to long to take on a trip.

Sometimes my camera won't take a picture. And twice, while trying to take a pic, it rebooted itself. It's had a factory reset since then, and hasn't done the rebook again, but I'll keep my eye on this and hopefully it isn't a huge problem. But if it is, I've only had it a week, I'll take it in and exchange it as defective if it keeps happening. I like to take pics, and if the camera isn't working right, that's a problem.

I've got a list of gripes...

1. The charging cord is too damn short
2. No charging indication light
3. Phone randomly crashes and reboots every so often
4. 3g HotSpot is extremely limited bandwidth wise even with 4 bars of signal
5. Pinch to zoom will sometimes zoom in and zoom right back out several times
6. Apps don't turn off when your done using them
7. Speech to text won't do curse words
8. Battery life is HORRIBLE!!
9. Wireless Tether and PDAnet both randomly drop connection BUT remain connected from time to time.
10. Screen freezes every once in a while

All in all I still think this is a really great phone. I just need to figure ways to fix these problems

1. VERY short wall charger. I just use an extension cord so I'm able to play with it when I'm in bed.

2. The tedious steps I have to go through to get my bluetooth to work. I don't feel like buying a new bluetooth right now and I felt like even if I did, it'd still be VERY tedious to get it to pair AUTOMATICALLY!!

3. This beef is more with Android: Lack of Netflix app for Android phones!!

I tried to take video and put it on youtube and it is awful My first droid was great but this one sucks. does anyone know what are good settings to use for youtube.
