When 4Chan meets eBay

She should have been watching them to begin with.

What do you think parents are? Overlords who do nothing but stand over their children to continually watch to make sure they aren't doing something wrong?

A parent who watches their kids like that is an abusive parent and is raising a child that will be incapable of handling life on his own. Sorry, but parents are not the all seeing overlords of their children's lives.

I don't go to the bathroom with my children. I even let my 4 year old go into the bathroom alone at Walmart (and I wait outside). My 9 year old can leave us and go to the restroom located at the front of the store alone, and return to us aftewards.

Plus, you dont publicly humiliate your kids to teach them the lesson. You simply, sell the damn things on ebay. You dont make your kids the object of public humiliation. Poor parenting skills.

Depends on the situation. My 9 year old threw an epic tantrum. I started recording it on my phone and let it be known that the video would be played at the upcoming birthday party... Suddenly, the tantrum went away.

Sometimes public humiliation has it's place.

Sometimes it's just fun (like when you perform your best dance moves in front of their friends... or pull out the baby pictures).

You have to have a cheap ass tub for those things to "destroy" the tub, even the metal ones.

It's the opposite actually. I HAVE a cheap tub and those things wouldn't do anything but leave marks on my cheap tub.

A nice porcelain tub... metal beyblades have weight, and they are moving at speed... weight impacting porcelain at speed... can do a lot of damage.

You just described my dad.
(I gotta hit the post button quick before he materializes into my office and lays the smack down on me. We had a seance the other day and he said that I can't hang around you guys anymore.)

We need forums of jagoffs that post people's physical addresses to a crowd of already hostile people? Kidding.

What does 4Chan offer? I've never been there.

Meh.. ok that's a little bit over the top. But people do need a venue to speak their minds freely. People need to be reassured that the internet is still free (barely).

Yes, because we need places where people can provide millions of strangers who are mad at you... your address.

I honestly think the person providing the address should face criminal charges.

He already addressed that part. I don't mind someone calling my dog ugly, but if they show up on my doorstep, I'll have them shot.

yes criminal charges. That line of thinking is ruining the internet.

A world of experiences

The ebay posting was awesome, some of the responses... I mean, posting their address... that's uncalled for.

Are you kidding? You must not be aware who or what 4chan is. These guys have embarrassed multiple people and coorporations. They are no joke.

Addresses are public information as are telephone numbers and anything else. Please explain to me how that is criminal?

Yes, plenty of people would love that. Most do not know how to have a conversation without being offended. Because we all know getting offended is illegal.

I bet the people in California would love crap like this to pass as law.

If they actually passed this crap, I'd go back to hacking.

I don't disagree with punishing kids for distruction. We don't know the back story at all. It could have been a brand new whirlpool tub that they were warned against playing in. And yeah I know as a parent there is certainly no way to keep a watchful eye on your kids 24/7, there must be a transference of responsibility from parent to child. I know when someone watches me TOO closely, it gets on my nerves and I feel like I'm being accused of something. So IMO the parents had every right to be upset, and I also have no problem with them selling toys off to help pay for damages incurred. That can help teach taking responsibility for ones actions. So I'm with them up until that point.

Where the parents crossed the line is in posting that ****ing picture. That is sad, and pathetic. And IMO makes the whole public humiliation part of it well deserved. I'm all for punishing kids within reason when they do something wrong. Hell I don't think parents do enough of that these days if you ask me. But it has to be appropriate punishment. Me, I would have probably received a nice bare-ass whippin from my dad for tearing ANYTHING up with my toys. But he wouldn't have taken a picture of me crying afterwards and showed everybody, are you ****ing kidding me? That's sick, demented stuff right there.

Carry on 4chan.

How long do they usually ban someone? And if it were a perma-ban they would have deleted his username and posts, right?

Honestly do not know...but a typical ban seems 3 or 7 days. I don't think they prune the forum on a users posts upon a perma ban. I seem to recall their title being reduced to "Guest" though. While Iowa has his crude moments I don't think he does things to deliberately cause an uproar. Not to mention he does make plenty of contributions....more then I can say about myself.....:D

Yep... personal responsibility... ruining the internet.

What is your alternative? Censorship?

My alternative is pressing criminal charges when someone does something criminally negligent.

If someone shows up at that Lady's home and attempts to do her harm, the person providing her real name, and location should be charged as an accessory. If nothing else he should be charged with harassment.

Her name was NOT public information, neither were her phone number, and address.

She had not revealed her identity.

There's a difference between being offended, and someone doing something criminally negligent.

Actions have consequences.

I'm fairly sure it was, if Anon was able to get it. It may well have been something as simple as finding her Facebook profile or looking in the phone book.

Users on Ebay don't have their names revealed. He had to put those pieces together, and OUT her. Otherwise everyone would already have her name and address.
