Sounds kind of like my life. My wife jokingly says I'm lucky. I know that I simply stack the deck in my favor by my actions, attitude, and by keeping my hopes and wants reasonable. Through preparation, perseverance, and an attitude that makes people like me and want to help me, I've never had more than minor temporary setbacks in my plans for my life. No prayer required.
I've seen firsthand that many people can't achieve the positive attitude needed to pull that off without the feeling that somebody else more powerful than them is helping. So they pray, feel more confident, and make it happen. If that's working for you too, congratulations. Some athletes wear rancid socks because they're "lucky" too. As long as they keep winning, there's nothing you can do to convince them that it's their skill, not their unwashed socks that is the cause of their success...
In any case, if it makes you happy, enjoy. As long as you don't preach to me that I'm going to hell unless I join you or try to restrict the freedoms of others that don't fit your religion's mold of "acceptable" we can get along just fine.
