where is my ics?

I can't find another mirror. Seems like the only 2 links are the ones I gave you. Have you tried signing up for a free account at the 4shared link to get that one?

I don't think so.
I'll go try.
Thank you for all your time on this.

Edit: Hey. That worked. The file is downloading right now.

What do I need to b/u (like apps and...) before proceeding?
Anything?

Its going to be like doing a factory reset so you will lose all your apps. If you're rooted, you can use Titanium Backup for your apps. Also, if you are rooted, you will lose root and have to reroot.

You can also use Kies to backup any media and contacts.

I have T b/u, but since i'll lose root, will I lose tbu and all my apps?

They will still be on your sd card, but you can't restore them until you reroot and install TiBu again.

Another option if you don't want to go through all that is to install a ICS rom like Darkside.

I had Darkside before. Didn't care for it.
I need to think about this after a nap.

It just seems like a lot of folks aren't very happy with the ICS over GB... reverting back.

I don't mind the work to update, but don't want to go through all the work to get back if I don't like it.

Hmmm...

After nappy time.
And again, thanx a million.

You're welcome.

I had a few problems after upgrading with Kies to ICS. I wiped everything with DarkSide Super Wipe and DarkSide Cache Wipe and did a clean install of ICS with Odin. Mine ran great after that. Of course as with everyone, YMMV. :)

I can't figure out how to check if Kies backed up everything?
It said it didn't back up some "other" data, whatever that stuff is (7,228 of it), because of a detected virus (in CWM Tether).

Doesn't Google have my contacts backed up in my account, or somewhere, or not?

I think Google automatically will backup contacts and restore if you have that option selected.

To be sure, open Kies, let your phone connect. Then in the section under your phone click on contacts. In window on the right it will show all your contacts. Up above that is a tab that says 'Save to PC'. Select the contacts you want to save and then click on the save to PC tab.

My luck. You won't believe this: Now the update is available through Kies. I swear just today.
But I'm all backed up and ready to push the Odin button.
Use Odin, still? (After all the work and frustration I have invested in it, and all your time).

lol .. well at least you've learned some things.

Its up to you which to use bud. If you are running a rom other than stock you will need to use Odin. I'm pretty sure the Kies update won't work with a custom rom. Personally, I would use Odin. I've seen people have more problems with Kies than Odin. Even if you use Kies, you will still lose root and have to reroot.

I would also use the Odin method as everything is already saved locally and you will not wait for the update to download. Also as Atmazzz said there sometimes are just too many headaches with Kies kinda like I phone has with itunes. So just run Odin and it should take only 5 to 10 minutes contrary to 30 or more minutes depending on your connection speed with Kies

Yeah, okay.
I will "go for it" just as soon as I get 2 phone calls this morning, with Odin.
Can I use the same root method for ICS as I did for 2.3.6 afterwards?
Thank you
