Help Where is the Mirror app located?

Panda-riffic!
Does anyone have the Mirror apk that was on some Evo phones? My Evo 4G doesn't have it. I even did a search on the phone and it's just not on there. Thanks.

If not mistaken is not the mirror app just the front facing camera turned on? So really all you would need to do is turn on the front facing camera and there you have your mirror

Yes I did. I don't have it. I was hoping I could download it from someone.

I don't believe that it's a standalone application. From what I read on XDA it sounds like it's just the HtcCamera.apk with some XML settings tweaked. The changes simply enable a shortcut into the camera that turns it on using the front camera. See here for more info:

Which ROM are you using? I'm running MikG and I see it in my app drawer. I don't remember seeing it on the Stock ROM though. But if it is truly a mod to the XML in HtCCamera.apk then you probably have to be running some sort of Sense ROM to take advantage of it. That's not definitive but it appears to be the case.

That is what I want; a shortcut to the front facing camera. I'm on Sense, BTW. I haven't rooted yet. I just got this phone last Thursday.

Hmm...my neighbor just got an Evo a week or so ago. I have a few coworkers with unrooted Evos as well. Let me check around and see if I can find it on their phones. I don't remember seeing it when I was running the stock ROM -- but it was definitely something I noticed when I unlocked my bootloader and started flashing other Sense ROMs (such as MikG).

I'll keep you posted if I find anything...

yeah, it's not an apk you can pull and side load. I just looked through a couple rom zips that I know had it and it's not in system/app or data/app. try pulling an htc camera apk from the mikg rom and replace your camera and reboot and see if it's there. and of course as always make a backup first in case it doesn't work

Yep...I just checked on a stock (unrooted) Evo and it's not on there either. Is there one available in the market? I haven't checked but it seems so simple -- surely someone must have created this by now?

If there is no such app in the market then you have 2 choices, both of which require you to root your phone (if you haven't already):

1. Replace the current HtcCamera.apk with one from another Sense ROM (such as MikG).

2. Ditch the stock ROM and flash over something different. If you like Sense and want the mirror app then you'll have to stick with a Sense-based ROM. I highly recommend MikG -- it's what I run.
