Root Which guide do i use- update to 2.3 on unrevoked roote devo

thanks for looking.
Id like to know if someone can post a link to which thread i should be following for this.

I rooted my evo with unrevoked while on 2.2, i have continuously rejected the auto update, but would like 2.3 on the phone.

I know enough to be terribly dangerous to my phone and dont really want to embarrass myself or ruin my phone by giving it the old college try.

This forum was super helpful the first time around so id thought someone can point me in right direction.

Heres some info that i have no idea what it means from my about phone=> software:
Android 2.2
Baseband : 2.13.00.11.19
Kernel: 2.6.32.17-gees557fd htc-kernal@and18-2 #15
Build 3.70.651.1.CL294884
Pri 1.90_003
prl 60681

need anything else to point me in right direction??

Thanks

Max

Yes, could you turn your phone off.
Hold down the power and volume down buttons until a white screen with Andy riding a skateboad appears. This is called the bootloader, or hboot. Both names are one and the same.
Type what you see on this screen.
Once we have the info from this screen we can move forward. :)
Don't worry, we'll get you fixed up. :D

If you've got a custom recovery (Amon Ra perhaps?) then you can just download and flash a 2.3 rom. And you'll love it! (maybe. I don't know you, maybe you won't... ? o.O )

Oh, and make (and verify (check)) a nandroid before you do any of this.... Yes. Nandroids are good.

i rooted w/ unrevoked forever.

"ocnbrze: if you are already rooted then all you need to do is flash a gingerbread rom. there are plenty of roms out now. you can get most of the roms here:http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-things-root/284413-roms-kernels-download-page.html try mik2.58 or the swag on rom. "

so guys..the whole "all you need to do is flash a gingerbread rom" i guess is where my tecknowledge breaks down.

Hello!

Since you are already rooted but lack edumakashun, I would suggest you look at this thread, http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all...ooting-dummies-guide-gingerbread-edition.html where it is talking about "Life after root"

If you don't have the recovery it is talking about, Amon Ra, I would highly suggest you install it according to the directions.

It will have you make a nandroid backup too, always a good thing, and then it will be on to flashing roms, and maybe later, a kernel.

write back with more questions anytime too!

If you want to update to the gingerbread stock ROM there is a link to the newly released one in the download link sticky.

nandroid first

Wipe dalvik, cache, and data and flash superwipe then flash the rom

Alright...all set....THANKS everyone...im up and running with everything listed here. 2.3.3 Mik2.58

HOWEVER...
I got one last question...a lot of my apps are MIA.
I use titanium backup...but thats MIA as well...

what am i missing here?...wheres me stuff at...

Thanks!

go to market and download titanium backup again, and pro, if you have it, then you can get to the backups you made with it before you flashed the rom.

Remember not to restore any system apps. the ones in red!!!

Edit: there is an app called Appsaver, i think, can save the ti app to your sd card. then you can navigate to it with file app you have on rom and install it from sd.

Oh, and this is a good time to make a nan, good for in case you screw up somehow getting it set up. You can always make another one and toss it when you have it like you want it.

another good tip from someone in here was to make a nan with JUST wimax keys checked. save it in a few safe places, ur pc, dropbox...
