Really if you guys want you can JUST flash the JIT On patch and the new google apps. it will still need a Dalvik Cache wipe but JIT is the only change in the Rom...most of the fixes come in the google-apps-etc package.


i reccommend a data/dalvik wipe and a fresh install tough just to cut back on the list of possible things that could go wrong
 
added infor on the patches post. not going to release tsupdate4- was asked not to by conap-but instructions on how to flash his kernel can be found right underneath the tsupdate3.zip post.

his kernel will NOT break the proximity sensore and should overclock to just as high. This is only needed for those of you who had issues with an unresponsive touchscreen.

If you restore via Ti Backup (or Astro or AppMonster, etc, etc), it is no longer "from the market". This effectively is a manually installed app. Therefore, you won't know when it gets updated.
 
Flashed WW 4.5, was super laggy, went to the market, would freeze when trying to install anything.
Flashed JIT off, everything is better.

Easy way to get around this, use Appbrain. It lets you know when there's an updated app, and makes the process of upgrading multiple apps somewhat easier.

which is why i never used it before. its too unstable in my opinion. some people it runs fine for. others like you and me it just screws everything up
 
I think I might still need that tsupdate4.zip because I cannot flash the zimage through fastboot...I think because I have 1.49 S On...i get this when i press enter

fastboot flash zimage zImage

sending zImage......FAILED <remote-not allow>

I tried searching around some forums and i cant get it to work...

I am using Titanium Backup. When you backup your apps it also backups the market link so when you restore your apps it restores the market link. The market link allows the apps to check for updates in the market.
 
Didn't realize that Ti Backup did that extra step. That's nice... I was speaking from experience with AppMonster and presumed it was just a limitation of the Market.
 
JIT worked just fine on my eris so far...

I did have an issue at first boot, my 3g connection stayed on and the phone was warm. I just did a reboot and it fixed the problem. lookin good so far :D

I have never had an issue with JIT, but the only performance increase I have ever noticed is in linpack score.....Maybe it helps other programs out b ut I cant tell

Can you give more details ? I'm guessing "eri" refers to the lockscreen no longer reading "T-CDMA 64" and now reading "Verizon Wireless". MMS-sending doesn't require a 2nd flash since you include it in here.

Google Apps update ?
 
When I receive an MMS now, I have to manually download it. With stock Eris and with other ROMs, it would automatically download. Is this related to White Widow or is it a Handcent / Messaging issue ?

i know i had an issue w/ 4.4 and not being able to create a facebook account to sync...w/ 4.5 it was fixed.

idk if that was an issue with anyone else

It's a benchmark value/rating. You know, it tells you when some internal function or operation completes in .257 ms whereas before it took a whopping .412 ms... No human can tell the difference, of course !! As PimpShit says, enabling JIT gives higher scores but in real-world use, he can't tell a difference. Since people should be using their phones for real-world stuff and not running benchmarks, maybe JIT isn't all it's cracked up to be.
 
On the good side of linpack it helps you tell the difference in overclocking at different speeds, and the speeds that your phone runs on different roms. Since everyone's phone is different you will run different scores on different roms. I love trying linpack after installing and using new programs to see if it is a lag on my phone. Some things really lag my phone. SetCPU for instance used to drop my phone almosta whole MFLOP when I used the widget. It has since been fixed but I was able to visually see the lag using linpack.....
 
okay so my facebook sync account WAS working. I restarted my phone for another reason and when I looked thru my contacts my facebook friends weren't sync'd.

I looked in the account settings and it was gone! I tried creating it again and it didn't do anything.

any ideas andrizoid?
