I've been waiting for this tablet ever since my Nexus 7 was just a tad too small. The s-pen will be fantastic for my art work I enjoy doing. The CPU and GPU are all proven and have tons of developer support. I'm hoping the price range will be in the $300 range to complete with the iPad mini. So who else is excited for this thing?
 
I've already got my gift cards set to use on it. I just hope it gets released prior to the end of April. The most recent reports said 3Q, so that's anytime from April to June.

Since US is getting the wi-fi only version, I just hope that Samsung doesn't think it's worth more than the Note 10.1. The early "rumored" prices were more expensive than the Note 10.1, which would be a mistake, IMO.

These are the prices for the Note 10.1:

32gb - $549 ($499 w/ most recent price drop)
16gb - $499 ($449 w/ most recent price drop)

But, if they want to price it to compete with the iPad Mini, then I'm thinking that the prices for the Note 8, wifi only, will reflect how they priced the Note 10.1:

32gb - $379 ($50 less than the 32gb iPad mini)
16gb - $329 (Same price as the 16gb iPad mini)

Better bargain would obviously be the 32gb version. I'm really hoping that it will be priced somewhere between the Nexus and the iPad mini, but wouldn't mind my guesstimates either (and I'd definitely be getting the 32gb version).

My only disappointment was not seeing a 64gb version (despite there being a external SD slot).
 
Yeah I think Samsung is going to go cheaper with this one. Hopefully the 32gb is under $400 that would be great and I would happily buy it. I know you really need the extra storage on these gnotes because you can't move apps to the sd even if you root from what I hear.

Really? Has it been said that the root trick where you switch which storage area is identified as the "internal" storage, doesn't work on the Note 2? That was one of the reasons I was wanting to root (still haven't found the time to sit down and do it the way I want to and make sure I know how to revert to stock).

Nontheless, I just personally need that much storage space, for both work and personal business. I also prefer hard files over streaming, so having the extra storage space is a big plus for me.

Anyhow, I really do hope that Samsung prices this thing correctly. I think I'd get it, regardless, but still don't want to see the price anywhere near the Note 10.1 and would prefer it being closer to the Nexus 7, than the iPad mini (which is unlikely, considering how many hardware advantages it has over the Nexus 7).
 
I am actually thinking about getting the international version and replace my Note II. :p Because of medical reason, I have to carry a "man purse" around everywhere I go. I found that a 7"-8" tablet fit perfectly inside. I don't use the phone much on my Note II except when I am driving. And when I am driving, it is hand free via bluetooth. It is really not that often I hold up a phone near my head. Even for the work phone, I have hand free handsets. I could probably sell my Note II and recover most of the cost switching to the Note 8.

You'd only be losing LTE, since the International version including LTE would not necessarily work with ATT LTE. Other than that, it's a decent thing to consider if you hold the phone in your messenger bag (aka murse) anyway.
 
I hope to upgrade my SGT 7.0 Plus to the Note 8 if the price is reasonable. It's all around better in every way including Processor, Resolution, Size and OS. Plus I want to try out the S-Pen for the first time... Disappointing to hear you can't store apps on the SD card though... maybe I'll just get the 32 GB model. I can't wait till the reviews start hitting the web. I know they're already knocking the resolution in the hands-on reviews from when it was first announced but to be honest, I find it hard to believe that it is less then adequate. Plus it's got a much faster SOC than my SGT 7.0 plus not to mention my N7. So I really hope this thing gets released soon for a good price. Then I'll be all over it. :)
 
I was a little surprise nothing was mentioned but I guess they intended for the S4 event to be strictly that.
Waiting on price and availability is right up there with watching paint dry.

Whose network would the international version work on?
 
Samsung needs to stop sitting on there hands and announce pricing. I've heard on xda forum Australian price said to be a lot and converted to USA would be $425 that's for 16gb wifi. Hopefully lower in the states.

I saw that, but I have a feeling it won't translate the same in the US (at least, I'm hoping not).

Yup. I was on the verge of getting a Note 10.1 because of all the deals I've been seeing lately (Woot had the 32gb for $410 or 420), but then again I prefer the 8 inch form factor, so I was torn. And I'll definitely be torn, if the prices are too close to the Note 10.1.

At maximum, prices should be exactly the same as the iPad Mini. If the Note 8 is any more than the iPad mini, I might just wait it out for a price drop deal.

I like the screen. It is wide and not narrow.

It is thin. Much thinner than the Note 2.

I really like it! This will kill mini ipad!

Kinda expensive at $400. Is it going to come down?

Looking back at my post about the Woot deal, now I'm really regretting not jumping on that, especially with the Note 8.0 pricing now official at $399.

I think the $399 price tag will prevent it from making a sizable dent in the iPad mini sales. Most people will look at it at say "oh it's $70 more for the same memory", although we know there's much more to it with S-pen and higher res screen. But my problem is I wanted the 32gb and I'm worried it'll be around $500 now..which I won't pay, but honestly $399 isn't THAT bad of a price considering what you're getting..and samsung most likely isn't making as large a profit margin on it than they did the note 10.1, just because its smaller doesn't mean it cost them less to develop and manufacture.
 
I was waiting in hopes of getting the Note 8 because I had the Note II and liked it, but due to work requirements went back to the iPhone. The price is way off at $400, I do not know who they think will buy it for that much, but I would just now rather wait for the iPad Mini 16GB with Retina for $329 or wait and see if they drop the price of the Note 8.

I want a tablet, but not in a dire need situation, will be interesting to see how much they sell at that price.
 
I will make a decision after the next Nexus 7 details are known (announcement in May, release in July). And by then, hopefully the Note 8 will drop by $50 at least, and the 32GB model made available.

Honestly, it seems the extra price of the Note 8 is due to the Wacom tech, which would be great IF the note 8 can run full versions of Photoshop and Corel Draw.

Google can sway me with a Nexus 7 update which either has a 64GB internal storage or microSD slot. They are just shooting themselves in the foot by being stuck to this "no external storage" ideology.
 
I couldn't even make it home this morning. Popped into iHop to have at it. The food was pretty good too. :D

What the blogs /reviews /members have been saying about this particular S-Pen is all true. It still has the same weight as the Note 2, but with a more tapered feel /cut /design making it more worthy of S-Pen status. It makes the Note 2 pen feel like a twig with a plastic tip.

One thing different though and this may not be an issue for everyone.
On the Note 2 in S-Pen settings, I have battery saving disabled and can use either the stock or my BT S-Pen. Even with battery saving enabled it doesn't stop me from using the BT S-Pen.

On the Note 8 however, battery saving was checked by default and I couldn't use the BT S-pen until unchecking it. I reenabled it just to make sure and same thing, couldn't use it but stock works whether it's enabled or disabled.

EDIT I performed my test a few more times but this time I enabled battery saving on the Note 2 then restarted. BT S-Pen did the same as it did on the Note 8; doesn't work with battery saving enabled.

If it had never been set as default on the 8 I would've never noticed it since I think battery saving in any setting is unnecessary for me with 3 batteries.
 
For 6 mos we've been using our fingers on the capacitive buttons.
The fact that we can now use the S-Pen is going to take a sec to get used to. I find myself still using my finger and then remembering I don't need to after the fact.

Maybe there is an additional setting on the Note 8.0 that prevents spen use?

Lol...I did the same when I tried it b4 launch. Ur a bad influence. Seeing ur having purchased makes me want to just bite the bullet and not hold out for potential late release of a higher storage version.

Yep....battery saving under S-Pen settings. Where's Treb & NeoG? I don't know if this is also the case with the Note 10.1 but on both devices once battery saving is enabled, no S-Pen works.
