I personally like this method since it does it before loading the OS.

"The factory data reset can be done in two ways, but I'll show the recommended method here:

- Shut down your device.

- While holding down both the volume-down toggle and the send or "phone" button, press the power button.

- Wait a moment, and a screen will come up: read the print completely and follow directions, it'll walk you through the simple process."
 
Don't expect to much out of this update. It really is just the update to the official 2.1 for those who were on the leak.

I do not expect that it will resolve any issues that already exist with 2.1.

The next meaningful update will be the one that an in-store Verizon rep told me will be coming in the fall! Ya, I know, what does that really mean!!!

I will once I get mine.
Keep in mind that its probably going to take a few days before we can notice any of the fixes and changes. Need to make a few calls, send a few texts, etc... to get a real feel of whats changed.

However since this is probably the last OTA update, now would be a good time to do the factory reset for the last time.

From what I've read, its actually an HTC Sense update, more than a 2.1 update and it really has nothing to do with being on the leak or not. It fixes issues with the widgets and tweaks some audio settings, but its still the 2.1 android OS.
 
i was on rooted 2.1v3 and got the 12.8MB update this morning. haven't used the phone enough to see what it fixed. I also did not have the 50% bug, or battery life bug. only one i have had is the silent calls, but its very rare.

i also got the phone on release day from Best Buy, seems i got lucky to have a pretty solid one, compared to some of the bugs and hiccups I've seen.

I don't think so though, as i remember the official ota 2.1 update was like 60mb or something, this was only 12mb which Isn't much at all.

I got it last night at 12:30AM. I think that's when everyone else got theirs, but you guys were asleep. :P

Technically no-one knows what it actually does but some people believe it has an effect on battery life. The number will slowly drop to 0%, which is good.

All I see in "Settings > About Phone > Battery" is Battery Status, Battery Level, Battery Use, Up time, and Awake time. How do I check if I have the 50% bug?

According to the Verizon rep I spoke with last night, this SHOULD fix the 'Silent Call' bug. But, I'm not sure if I can trust her. Only time will tell.
 
I received the update notification but pressing update did nothing. Actually none of the options worked. So I did a manual check...nothing...and rebooted...nothing.

what gives? Was this really just a fw update? Why can't I get it?

Buddy on 2.1v3 received the update yesterday in S.Cal ... Purchased before him, still waiting myself as of Sat late am.

Make sure if you post that you got the latest OTA that you add what version of 2.1 you were on.

I'm still waiting here, haven't seen anything yet. Leak v3
 
I am on rooted 2.1 ( Kernel 2.6.29 ) - got the update this morning, I pressed to update, but when the phone rebooted I got an error about files mismatch ( something like that ). so no go for my rooted Eris.

I also got the e-mail about upgrading to 2.1, but I already have the 2.1OTA. I went from 1.5 directly to 2.1OTA back when they sent it out a few months ago.
 
me to. I am on planejane 2.1 -but the update failed. what did you do djlegion to get the update going on your phone ? have the update removed your root ?
