Who here will jump back to apple for the iphone 4G LTE

It has nothing to do with the skyrocket lacking. Its more of an issue with the maturity of the app store compared to the Google market. While the app store didn't look as fancy it was definitely more functional in terms of finding new content. I truely liked iTunes. I would grab some new music or whatever charge my iPhone at night and my new content was on my phone for me in the morning no hassles. IOS has the official version of just about Every app I wanted and was always a joy to use. Here I am finding myself having to settle for a 3rd rate app riddled with ads. I do like the way for example angry birds space also has a premium version that removes the ads. I would like to see more of this and hope its a sign of things to come here on android.

I'm sure it doesn't hurt the fact that was the one that started everything for me. Its like your first car. I am enjoying android i would just like to see the market gain in terms of quality and not the countless booty puzzles I have come across. I'm not that Guy that whines about software updates or anything like that. Just would like to see the ecosystem come as far as the phones have. This is my first time using tapatalk to reply so bare with me.

Thanks for the response. Looks like it comes down to how each person uses the app stores. I've never encountered difficulty with either the apple or android app markets. I typically google for the type of app I need and then locate it on the market as well as google for best apps and browse through to see if there is anything I could use. I don't usually install games so I may not see as much ad bombardment as some do.

One of the reasons I waited until just recently to switch from iOS to Android was to wait until the Android market had as much choice as Apple. (The others being larger screen, LTE and almost free phone)

As far as allegiance or fond memories, I'll have to admit to being selfish; I'll use the platform the works the best for me at the lowest price regardless of the manufacturers or carriers :)

I had heard, but never bothered to confirm, that there was a software update to the 4S that makes the 3G icon show up as 4G depending on what kind of network it's connected to. If so, there are no doubt iPhone users out there who think this software update added 4G capabilities to their phone.

Per the dates on the articles, people thought that before the OS change.

Per the ITU, this statement preceded both -

ITU redefines 4G to include LTE, WiMAX and HSPA+

I don't care one way or the other, I just get my dander up whenever consumers aren't given a square story, and I mean that for Apple, Motorola, Samsung, HTC, or you name it.

No doubt others have felt the same or may know things you can find. Best advice is to ask app by app that you care about though, otherwise with hundreds of thousands of apps on both sides, you're liable to get just noise responses.

The real crime isn't so much lack of quality Android apps in general as it is that the Market / Play Store search just sucks. Inexcusable for a company that made its name on searching, but it is what it is, and that's why word of mouth is important.

Apple does have some quality apps that Android doesn

Thanks alot EarlyMon.

I will have to check out the apps section. I decided to go ahead and grab doubletwist airsync. Gonna give it a shot.

Who here will jump back to apple for the iphone 4G LTE later this year?

You say "back to Apple" implying people left Apple. Im sure there are plenty here who have never owned iPhones. I just recently got rid of mine, only had it for a month. Too many things were frustrating on it. I might consider giving it another try if they gave it a 4 inch or larger screen, LTE, totally redesigned iOS 6 and added new features missing. The ability to add a new keyboard or dialer. Doubt that will ever happen though.

By the way Sammy, if you're in need of a fast way to export your iTunes music to your phone, Winamp works very well. Took only half an hour to upload 1200 songs.

Migrating from iTouch+Wildcard basic phone to Triumph, I get along decently with Google's app store (and there are others, such as Amazon), and find that the same app (e.g. Angry Birds ad-free) costs less (plus it's a lot more common to find a free trial version of an Android app), the phone itself is less expensive than an iPhone, and the crucial factor for me: the monthly fee for my service with VM is affordable (in my case, any numbers you want to quote should be x2, since my husband also needs to be considered).

I'm also appreciating the more flexible and customizable operating system. I saw someone somewhere on this board comment that iOS feels like having training wheels, which I agree with. Apple does tend to take a "shield the user from any unhip, uncool techie stuff" view. While a lot of people are more comfortable with that, it doesn't suit me well.

All my songs in iTunes were mp3, all I did was plug my Skyrocket into my Mac, made a folder on my sd card called Music and selected all my songs and dragged them onto the new music folder. Took 5 minutes to move 400 songs.

There seems to be this common meme out there that we all secretly want iPhones and will finally go to the fold when a magic feature hits - retinal display (gack), Siri, LTE...

There is no perfect phone, just the right phone for any individual at any point in time.

But as for that meme, no, it doesn't work that way. In order for an iPhone to become attractive to me, it's not only going to have to pick up significant features, Android is going to have to lose significant features.

iPhone, do not want.

Stop asking me.

Not to mention Apple is closed source... Opensource for me all the way... going apple would be like going from owning your house to renting...

Honestly, I find the closed source vs open source argument irrelevant here. If the product works and it works well and it does what you need/want who cares if it's closed or open source? Android works beautifully for me. If it went closed source tomorrow I'd keep using it as long as it continued to do what I needed.

Apples will remain apples only.
But you know what can androids do???
Take a look...

Android rocks!!!

^^this. I'm using a 4s and the auto-correct is TERRIBLE. I mean really bad. I don't even think it saves new words

I think Apple made their Iphone's auto-correct software that way on purpose...you know to give it some humor and personality just like Siri.

What other phone can inexplicably misunderstand a person is trying to spell meatloaf not a person's genitals is for dinner. :p

Bravo, Apple...bravo.

Price could be less of an issue in the future, however. The two iPhone-selling operators in China are beginning to offer subsidised devices, although right now these require customers to lock themselves into long-term, expensive contracts.

Yesterday we reported new research that suggested that there are now 21 million active iOS devices, although ownership is restricted to urban areas where more affluent Chinese live.

From what I've seen much of the peasantry uses things like this...
1.0x0.jpg

...owning a real iPhone can be very much restricted to the bourgeoisie, petty-bourgeoisie and other nouveau riche.

Most Android devices tend to be of the budget type and often they're not too good., things like high-end Samsungs and HTCs can also be very expensive as well.

Apple would have to introduce a life changing must have technology just to consider their product and even then I wouldn't pay full price just to be an early adopter.
Frankly, if they can give me battery life as good as on the iPhone 4 with their LTE phone, I'd get one. Reckon I'll still come out ahead after I sell my iPhone 4. Apple products tend to have very good resale value.

Well, right now, I carry with me an iPhone, Android (usually Xperia Active or Xperia Ray) and WP7 phone. I tend to use the iPhone and Android equally. WP7 not so much (mostly just for Facebook).

Well that's the million dollar question isn't it? What type of battery life can we expect from an LTE iPhone with a 4.5" screen? At least GS II LTE users can bring along an extra battery, and/or install a larger capacity battery without increasing the size of phone.

They do enjoy good resale value, sold my 3GS recently for $150, picked up the SR for $20, I'm betting I'll make money when I sell the SR too;)

I've never bothered with spare batteries. I usually find it a major pain switching batteries (often involving broken nails, etc) so I'd rather have something with long battery life from the get go. Besides, we don't know if the new iPhone will have a 4.5" display. Apple doesn't seem inclined to increase screen size and I doubt they'd do it at the expense of battery life.

Never had much luck with 3rd party high capacity batteries, either. Given some bad experience a few years back with 3rd party Nokia batteries, I'd rather stick to genuine OEM batteries despite the lower capacity.

That was kinda my point; gotta compare apples to apples, even if they both aren't;)

There's a wide range of Android phones and screen sizes. Not everyone wants a phone with a 4.5" screen so don't really see why I'd need to know what the battery life of a hypothetical 4.5" iPhone will be when in most likelihood, Apple isn't going to release one. Battery life is one of the factors affecting my purchase so I just want to know what that will be regardless of what the new form factor of the iPhone will be. Whether I would like the iPhone's new form factor if Apple does change it is another matter.

My most used Androids actually have smaller screens than the iPhone (Xperia Ray 3.3", Xperia Active 3") but despite the latter's smaller screen, it still has much crappier battery life. I'm quite happy with the iPhone's form factor and wouldn't be interested in a bigger one (unless they improve battery life really, really drastically).

It's all about "To each their own" and "live and let live". I had made a satire thread that had been deleted about WM and Iphone, it was for a laugh and not meant to be taken seriously.
:)

My mom bailed for n Iphone and she loves it. Like me, updates wrecked her android phone and she gave up. I tried to keep her on board and told her I could root her phone and rom it, but she had her mind made up.

Like earlymon said, it's the right device at the right time for every individual. :)

I prefer android because of the bigger screens (Bigger keyboard and for movies), adobe flash and an open source operating system. I'm getting away from locked down systems like Apple and Windows.

I also want to stay away from being a fanboy, but I suppose I always will be to a degree. I won't knock others because of the device they choose to use. :)
