who's keeping thier phone?

why not keep the fone? this phone is awesome and its the only high end android fone available at tmo.. its such a good fone and ur mad cuz ur havin wifi and gps issues? every fone has there flaw and gps and wifi issues are very little flaws for this fone and theres even a fix for the GPS. Like a lot of people said my phone doesnt even have any issues so u jus got a bad model.

good for you that your phone doesnt have issues but some of us have issues like lagging, gps, etc. why keep a phone that isnt doing what its supposed to do

I've had zero problems with my vibrant. gps works great after doing the fox from xda, no lag, no bugs, this is a keeper

GPS still does not work but I did some testing today I used GPS test and it never locked on a single sat. but when I turned on G maps it would show where I was with in 3-500 feet so I turned off the GPS and It wouldn't work at all even though I had the wifi turned on, HMMMM I'm beginning to think that the test program doesn't work on these phones either. I turned the GPS back on and the map program started working within reason and the test program still said that no satellites were in use. go figure. I don't know whats going on.
The phone has gotten really laggy and even locked up with a black screen, yesterday it locked up with the contacts page open and did nothing, I had to take the battery out to get the phone to shut off and then reboot it to get it working. I'm getting really tired of this BS. And I'm getting tired of the BS from TM and Samsung. I think I want my G1 back. It worked most of the time even though the battery life sucked. But I think I'm going to tell TM to tell me the whole truth about what is going on since I really want this phone or I'm going to tell them that if they don't I'm going to cancel all four phones I have with them and they can take me to court and explain to the judge how they don't have to tell their customers the truth.

I'm beginning to think that Samsung has beat Apple in the contest of who can screw up the worst.

Samsung is number 1 at screwing up!

I think i will keep it. Much better in all respects then HD2 and EVO i returned. Besides probably small text readability but i found i zoom all pages anyway so there is actually no real loss. We all need something like 1280x800 resolutions anyway, nobody offers that yet even in the future plans, so until that this is great phone to keep.

Next major step would be dual core smarties on future Intel processors which hackers will make boot real not phony Windows OS, 3D displays, 4G speeds.

I don't really see why people have so many GPS issues... my google maps works just fine with less than 15m (it does take a 30-60sec to lock on) but it works with no issues.... however the GPS tools type programs all say I have poor signal or no lock at all... im thinking that those programs are bogus on this phone. as for the lag... again I dont see this much if at all. Im still in my 2 week window... and I will be keeping this phone for sure. Im sure if I had seen most of the problems that people have mentioned I would be inclined to return the phone and think about a different handset but based on GPS alone I will keep the phone... I rarely ever will use it as for me its more of a novelty. never the less it seems to work for me.

I'm keeping mine. My GPS appears to work, the lag is hardly noticeable and is easily fixed, the massive storage and beautiful screen are huge pluses, and TouchWiz is better than expected. Swype is also very useful.

Samsung may have screwed up on the American and European GPS, but it's still not as bad as the Iphone's Death Grip. Lighten up, if the Canadian one works a fix for you guys is along the way =)

We all use our phones differently and have different standards for "works" and "doesn't work".

Can you guys download "GPS Test" from the Android Market.
When you turn it on can you list how many satellites are "In View" and how many are "In Use".

I usually have 13 "In View" and zero or two "In Use".
While it seems other phone users have up to 8-10 satellites "In Use" which dramatically increases their precise position.

I did use this test and found similar results... i lock on 2 and see 10 according to this app... and my signal is poor... and 20m accuracy.

thats bad according to this app...

when I use google maps and nav. I get 10m accuracy and lock on just fine also it tracks just like any dedicated gps I have used... this leads me to belive that it works as it is suposed to work... I dont need my accuracy to be better than 30ft for driving and often i see it much lower than 10m anyway.

in my eyes some third party app telling me that my gps is poor when it works great in the real world conditions tells me that this apps results on this phone are screwed.

this is all stock btw I have not used the gps fix. which is suposed to increase results.

all that said when I actually use the gps as intended (driving directions or location finder) it works as it was ment to.

Using the same "GPS Test" by Chartcross app...

Every single other forum on here is reporting the same number of satellites in view are in use.
10/10
9/9
8/8

And their accuracy is down to 20feet to 10feet.

THAT'S how a GPS on our phone is SUPPOSED to work.

For some people who use GPS to integrate into other apps this is important. 10 in view and 1-2 in use and 100foot accuracy does not cut it.

Basic concept of GPS

A GPS receiver calculates its position by precisely timing the signals sent by GPS satellites high above the Earth. Each satellite continually transmits messages that include
the time the message was transmitted
precise orbital information (the ephemeris)
the general system health and rough orbits of all GPS satellites (the almanac).

Three satellites might seem enough to solve for position, since space has three dimensions and a position near the Earth's surface can be assumed. However, even a very small clock error multiplied by the very large speed of light[34]—the speed at which satellite signals propagate—results in a large positional error. Therefore receivers use four or more satellites to solve for the receiver's location and time.

Some GPS receivers may use additional clues or assumptions (such as reusing the last known altitude, dead reckoning, inertial navigation, or including information from the vehicle computer) to give a less accurate (degraded) position when fewer than four satellites are visible

so I was using a different app now im using the one your using... Im getting different reading at different times. but all about 15-25ft accuracy with 10+ seen ans at least 2 locked.... at the moment im seeing 14 and locking 7. and 23ft.
I am thinking this is software related though as for whatever reason it dosent want to lock onto birds that have good signal for whatever reason.

keeping mine. had the behold II for two days and sent it back, got the vibrant, and i think i'm in love. after rooting, applying the gps and lag fixes and removing tons of bloatware, this phone runs like a dream. i wonder if those that want to send it back aren't sure about its true functionality, this device is amazing

I've had the iPhone 3gs over a year now and after many good years with AT&T before moving here 3.5 years ago, I'm fed up with the lack of coverage at home. After much research, I chose to try T-Mobile and the Vibrant. My 14 days is up on Tuesday and I'm leaning toward returning the Vibrant.

I have many of the problems much discussed in these forums plus I'm very disappointed in the quality and completeness of the basic Android apps. I have trouble getting my email, bluetooth is spotty, all the music apps I've tried lack the most rudimentary functions of the iphone's ipod app, everything seems to require work arounds to get the same functionality as the iphone for what I use. Android just feels not ready for prime time. The best example of this is the google maps app which should shine in google's android play ground but the iphone google maps is a better, cleaner app all the way around plus the iphone gps works. :(

On the plus side, I love the screen and the general look and feel of the phone. Also, T-Mobile coverage is much, much better in my area and in test calls to friends and relative, call quality is much improved. :D

So my quandary is do I keep the iphone and stay with the known AT&T issue or pay to break my contract and go with the Vibrant with its and android's potential. Tough decision ahead.

How long remaining on the contract? I'd wait it out until at least the G2 gets reviewed.

It is very true that Samsung made some mistakes with this phone. One of the things that I wanted in the phone was the FM radio which isn't there at all even though the hardware exists for it and it was advertised everywhere to have it. That bothered me nearly enough to return it.

Overall though, I am still way too happy with the phone to send it back. The three primary problems, GPS, Stuttering and FM radio are software fixable and when the Froyo update comes, I will root and fix whatever still isn't taken care of.

I guess I'm on the fence also. I'm more than a little upset it doesn't have a DVR and satellite TV (either Dish Network or DirctTV would have been ok - I'm not picky). Video conferencing should have been included also. Oh, and of course there should have been a built in mini DVD player. And what the heck Samsung? What happened to the 5.1 audio with subwoofer? And why doesn't this phone have a remote start/roll down the windows button for my car? They also missed the boat by not bundling PC Anywhere so I could access my home or office PC remotely.

And talk about mistakes: A holographic keyboard should have been included at the very least since they didn't include neural implants so I wouldn't have to press any buttons or even pick up the phone for that matter. Next time don't forget the neural implants please.

I hope the upcoming fix will include Poker Stars or Full Tilt Poker capability. I need to be able to play Poker on the go.

 I guess I'm screwed though - my 30 days expired yesterday. {edit} Oh darn, another 2 years with this. ;)

9.5 months left and whether now or later, my wife wants to keep her iphone so two individual plans with AT&T plus T-Mobile means about $20/month more. The cost to break the contract and buy the Vibrant will be minimal based on what my iphone is currently selling for on ebay.

What I've seen on the press releases and rumors indicate a keyboard/slider phone which has to be bulkier and keyboard is unnecessary for me.

defiantly keeping this phone. no real issues or anymore than any other phone in the market. Pick a phone and you will find a forum with complaints. For me this is close enough. Screen is beautiful. no real lag to speak of. this isn't a super computer its a phone, GPS I would love to work and is my only gripe about this Phone. With a update promised we will see. Other than that it does what I need it to do.

Return it and try again when it gets the 2.2 update. I had an iPhone too and now have the Vibrant and i love the phone. Sure the music part is different but after i loaded all my music from iTunes using DoubleTwist, i now just put my Microcard in my PC and drag songs in it. There are other ways to do it and there are album art Apps to get those too.

I really feel that within the next 6 months, Android is going to blow Apples doors off as far as the OS when Gingerbread comes out. Apps have to catch up but they are getting more and more and Apple has had a year and a half head start.
