im still new to android i have the g2x (use to have now cuz of my friend falling into the pool) i love the g2x but i love my sister evo and i been thinking that money is not a big deal for me that when e3d comes out sould i cancel my tmob account and go to sprint to get evo 3d

That is a question only you can answer. The main thing should be how good of a signal you get at your place and anywhere you go frequently and use that to decide what carrier is best for you. If that is all equal, then YOU have to decide what phone is best for you. The one is that best for me, isn't always the right phone for the person sitting on my right or left.

As the above poster said only you can decide. However the g2x is a very nice device. I would wait until the 3d comes out; read the reviews; go to the store play with the device.

Then decide.

Awwwww.... :p

I love my rooted evo 4g. I got it on launch day and before that I had my htc hero. The hero blew my mind. The evo was like upgrading from dating the varsity cheerleader to a playmate. Going from damn good to damn great.

Anyway, I looked into it today and as a premiere gold customer, I can upgrade basically for free while also packing on the new AAA discount at the same time (10% per month). So assuming I get at least $200 on ebay for my 4g (and assuming the price of evo3d is $200), it makes financial sense to upgrade as i'll break even plus $8/month in discount. I'll just have an extra year on my sprint contract.

The issue im having here is.. should I wait for the galaxy S II ? Should I just keep my evo 4g for another year then be out of contract and "have the power" to make sprint beg me to sign another contract? To the first point, galaxy S is superior in every way except screen resolution (which is important to me). To the latter point, yes - sprint would sell her sister to put out of contract customers into a contract (speaking from experience here)

So, i'm on the fence. 2.5x faster would be nice..

I would take the evo 3D over galaxy s II, just because of some things that bug me about the samsung.

No notification light
Sleep button on the side instead of top (awkward)
Too thin and light (yes this is a con for me)
Smaller battery (1650 vs 1730 mAh)
Touchwiz (can be fixed later on)

I don't think you'll get a whole lot out of waiting -- if they're giving you the new-customer price and a discount, you can't do much better, can you?

From my limited experience with Samsung vs HTC phones it seems like HTC is unlikely to have any serious faults; this gives me some warm fuzzies coming from a Samsung Moment. Also, the SGS2 is pretty similar in performance to the EVO 3D; each may win some benchmarks, so I wouldn't get too hung up on performance -- they're both going to be a substantial upgrade from the EVO 4G.

I appreciate your comment. My last 3 phones have been HTC. Two out of 3 were fantastic (hero, evo 4g). Unfortunately, my FIRST htc phone was utter trash: HTC Touch. It was a windows phone however, which had a lot to do with the problems (windows 6.1).

I think you are right - waiting isn't going to do much, except the samsung is way way lighter and thinner, and supposedly has a better cpu&graphics chipset. I'd feel more comfortable with HTC I suppose, and no notification light does seem odd.

Well sorry to make the decision even harder for you, but the SGSII is a lot lighter (over 50 grams), and the CPU/GPU are a bit more powerful than the 3vo's.

Although you probably won't see a difference in CPU/GPU speed, and sometimes being heavier isn't necessarily worse. I bet a lot of people will prefer the heftier and sturdier feel of the 3vo over the feel of the SGSII.

Based on the reviews posted to date, are you still 100% sure you'll get the Evo 3D? If not, why?

I probably wont buy it on launch day at this point. I want to see it for myself and hear the general consensus on the forums before I make this purchase. Not because of any specific review but mainly because of my own paranoia lol. Had all the reviews been 10/10 "Editors Choice" I wouldn't hesitate. There is just too much inconsistency in the reviews for me to make a confident decision here.

I was pretty excited about the phone, but the issues with reception and call quality are deal breakers. I'm also a little concerned about the viewing angles on the screen. If the parallax barrier makes it impossible to see what's on the screen when it's sitting on my desk 3 feet away, that's also a deal breaker. Like others said, I will at least go in and try it out at the store, and possibly wait for Sprint/HTC to release OTA updates that might resolve call quality/reception issues.

However, looking at the current line-up, I don't see myself upgrading to anything Sprint is now or will soon be offering. I've sworn off Samsung forever after owning a Samsung Moment - a phone which I believe should have been recalled and should have been pulled from the shelves, but Samsung wouldn't admit that there were severe and irreperable design issues with the GPS and CDMA radio. As such, I don't care if the Samsung Galaxy S2 could print money or even grant me three wishes (even if one of those wishes is for a SGSII) - I will never buy Samsung. Ever. So no Nexus S 4G and no SGSII for me. Motorola is also out because of locked bootloaders. So basically I'm just waiting for HTC to get it together and release something worthwhile again... :(

I will be getting the EVO 3D with out a doubt. Did you see how smooth the scrolling was? And the snappiness. So there are a couple things they didn't like....for instance when you tilt the screen and it's not as bright. BIG DEAL! Oh and that the camera might get scratched or smudged. I'm sure there will be cases addressing this.

I'll be at Best Buy bright and early next week and will be enjoying this beast in all of its glory!

I believe the viewing angle comments in the reviews are solely regarding 3D use -- in other words, you have to be in a specific spot relative to the screen in order to see the 3D effect.

Otherwise, if not using the 3D function, I believe the viewing angle should be similar to a typical screen.

Yes, one review went on to say that in 2D mode is very vibrant with wide viewing angles, like a Sensation.

So - no degradation to 2D because of 3D glass presence when 3D off.

LOL I was looking at engagets review of the Thunderbolt and they gave it a 8 of 10. WHY? The battery sucks......its not a dual core.....its like a boat anchor.

So just because of the camera and the view angles they give them a notch higher. Oh and possibly because they like the little kickstand.

I'll take a bigger battery and a decent smooth running phone with a dual core snap dragon any day. I don't care what the haters say.

Yeah, I agree, hard to tell based on reviews. I have a feeling the screen brightness will be affected, although how much remains to be seen. The screen is something that I'd need to see in person to make an assessment. It didn't seem like anyone was complaining when it was shown at CTIA though.

Well, I guess I've been holding onto my Hero long enough. Mind you, I've been rooted and running Gb for a while now and I have no real complaints. It's just time to move on. Unfortunately even with holding on so long I'm still not eligible for an upgrade, so I'm ditching my broadband card and upgrading it to the 3D and moving it over to my line. Then I'm putting the hero as a 3rd line. So I guess I get to keep both, if only to tether from my Hero. Heck I'll even save money this way so it's all good.

I could be way wrong - but I'm betting it won't be. (Yes, any structure ought block light - but at the scale involved, I'd be surprised if they screwed up to the point that you could detect it with the naked eye.)

As you say - we'll soon see! :)

I'll be getting one! I'm so excited, I even asked for the 24th (release day) off work. I've been wanting to get a new smart phone for awhile and my Iphone (2g) is getting a little rusty with no more os updates and pixels going out...its definately time for a new phone lol The HTC Evo 3D looks much less limited than the Iphone (any generation). So, instead of waiting for the Iphone 5, I'm going with the HTC Evo 3D! \o/

For any phone feature, if I can ONLY tell a difference with a side by side comparison, then the variation is insignificant to me. Brightness would be one such feature. call quality is another.

If someone says that the Sensation is brighter than the Evo, it may very well be true. But show me one phone, and then show me the other phone (better yet, make it a double blind test so no one knows which phone is which), and if I can't tell which one is brighter, then for all intents and purposes, they are the same brightness, even if it becomes apparent which is brighter when side-by-side.

Cause I don't plan on walking around with two different phones in daily use, constantly comparing them.
