Whos trading their DX for the iphone

I have no desire to own an iphone. It's nothing fanboy'ish from my standpoint. I actually admire Apple as a company for their fairly innovative products, but I just hate how they try to lock you in to using only Apple stuff, like itunes etc. It really feels a lot like Microsoft back in the mid-90's (the trying to dominate the competition part, not the innovation part. MS forgot how to do that years ago.), for those of us old enough to remember.

+1. Android is going to grow and surpass iPhone someday. Why buy something that's gotta be jailbroken to do what you want it to do. iPhones aren't going anywhere but their lock down tactics are going
to cost them in the long run.
 
Yeah, no way I'd get an iPhone. I agee with Exiled, I was feining for an Iphone to come to verizon. But now that android its here, I'm hooked and have no desire for a glorified iTouch.

I bet...and if they worked out the contract when apple first contacted them...they both would have dominated the world. :p

I don't know...I will check it out and see what it's all about...but I doubt it will pull me from android. ;)

I'm glad they turned down the iPhone. If Verizon had got the iPhone to begin with then AT&T might be getting all the great android phones. I am happy to have the best network and the best choice of phones. Can't wait to get my Droid X on the 15th!

And Verizon is doing the samething with the X. I agree it makes you think that something is up. But it could just be that with these hard times they are trying to lock people in.
 
I have to admit that I lusted after the Iphone, but the network, the shi__y attitude of Steve Jobs, and the big antenna problems, plus not having a removable battery swung me to the X. By the way, duh..... first and foremost IT HAS TO BE A GOOD PHONE!!!! Moto makes good phones with good reception. And it looks like all the new talent is going Android. We will see some remarkable advancements in this operating system. 2.2 is just the beginning.
 
There are two advantages to the iPhone to make me switch but I'd still never would.
1) wish we had their app market, but we'll get there some day.
2) Freaking million accessories all interchangable!
All I stinking wanted for my HTC Inc was a powered window mount and desk top mount. I got neither. DX is on the way for me.
Why I wouldn't do iPhone:
1) hate apple sensorship
2) small (but nice screen)
3) no HDMI out
4) hate only one button on a phone
5) their stuff is so dumbed down to apeal to the simple minded people. No not everyone is simple minded or dumb for using apple, but a lot are.
 
I heard from my aunt who knows a guy who works with the uppers in Verizon that the iPhone is supposedly coming soon to VZW. However I would never buy it. I have an itouch and while I love it there's alot I don't love. Censorship for one. It's like apple is china and google just gave them the finger (like google did with the real china). Censorship belongs four generations ago. Also I like the fact that I have a removeable battery to my device. That's a pretty big deal for me.

It was supposedly coming to verizon the past like 2 years or something
 
All BS until VZW actually says something. And to be honest I lost a lot of faith and respect for Apple in the last week. The 4 is riddled with problems and Apple refuses to atleast admit to faults with the design and new software. Thumbs down to Apple, I'm all Android baby...

It really is. I'll never get it because of the OS and all the restrictions and hand tying, but apple does know how to make a pretty phone. It felt solid not fragile and had good heft. And though I'm not crazy about the size and ratio of the screen, the pixel density really is a sight to behold. I could read tiny print on websites (even though the screen is only 3.5 inches) that couldn't on the Evo's 4.3 inch screen.

Still, to me it's a nobrainer. I'm getting the droid x. I don't ever want my user experience restricted. However, if you could somehow put android on the iphone hardware...
 
You would have a smaller glass Galaxy S. iPhone is a great piece of hardware but Droid X on paper seems better.

Not getting a Droid X (found this through tapatalk) but do have some envy for the people who are. OMAP is comparable (in some ways better) to Hummingbird in all categories and what good is a high resolution on a small screen? Only downsides are that you can't videoconference over wifi with iPhone4 users or play jenga with Steve Jobs. I am sure you can live without that. Especially since you get a huge screen and HDMI output, better camera and dual antennas allowing you to hold your phone however you like.

Call me crazy but I think this phone will be the best smartphone on the market when it releases. A game changer.

I went to Apple again for the second time to play around with the iPhone and came away wanting the Droid X more then before. The past 2 weeks or so I've been trying to figure out if I wanted the new iPhone or the Droid X.

I love the design of the iPhone easily the sexiest phone made but I'm sick of the OS. It doesn't even have true multitasking. For example I started a game of Angry Birds and paused in the middle of a game. I double tapped the home button which brings up all the apps you used last. I went into the browser then double tapped the home button again and click on Angry Birds and guess what...the game started over as if I never had opened it! Multitasking my arse!

Things I've come to really love about Android is the notification bar. I love how any new messages or anything that's going on shows up there and you can access it with one quick swipe. I also love how Android has a file system. I hate how the iPhone doesn't have this!
 
After reading how Apple is in denial over this signal issue, and it's a hardware design flaw that cannot be fixed w/o re-engineering, there is no reason to want one any more. Period.

Then again... its 3G and has the wifis... Ha!
