Root Why are you still on this phone?

Rom development has slowed, ICS is dated, the JB roms all have issues, wimax is being turned off, why are you guys still on this phone? I got the phone a few months ago and feel like it's to soon to upgrade. Battery life sucks, my extended battery is too bulky, data is slow, mms only sometimes works, but I can live with it a few more months. Maybe.

The reason I have the phone is to make calls and send texts, browse the net, etc.
It actually does what it was made to do. On the standard battery I can go 2 days. And I'm not clocked down. It is a matter of getting the phone set up for what you are going to use it for. I've had it since Virgin made it available. A massive improvement over the Triumph!!

My wimax is super fast in Anaheim, i get mms all the time on Dirty Unicorn ROM, running android 4.2.2 flawlessly, no crashes or anything bad, this phone is easy to root and unlock its boot-loader, my battery lasts all day and then i charge it over night. i had the lg optimus v before this phone and it was a huge upgrade from the optimus v. Finally we are quickly on our way to have a perfect android 4.3 ROM. At least for me this phone is still perfect.

Well this is good to hear since I'm headed to Anaheim for a concert tomorrow!(today?) :D

but back to the topic, I'm just waiting for the n5 and i'm ditching VM and it's awful service for straight talk.

I'm broke!

But honestly, this phone is fine. Screen is big enough, jb has very few problems that effect me....and most of the time I'm on WiFi anyways, so its blazing fast.

4G LTE is pretty sweet. i used to pay 35 with VM, now 45, 10 dollars more i get unlimited talk, text and 2gbs (sometimes more) of real LTE data, not too bad.

Still a very decent phone with specs similar to iPhone 5. Good build quality. Runs fast, stable, and efficient on Harmonia with MiRaGe kernel. Using it as a phone, PDA, notes, e-Books reader, multimedia player, offline GPS navigation, and some remote work. Basically a convenient small computer/encyclopedia on the go. 4.3" is a nice size. Mostly on WiFi, but 3G is plenty fast, considering I turned off Javascript most of the time. Really cannot complain.

Because I don't have the money to upgrade just yet :P But I'm not really angry about that, this phone fits my needs. Extended battery lasts forever and I can play GTA just fine.

Yeah that's what i'm really excited about. We don't get LTE here yet but we do get HSPA, and that's still wayyy better than 3G.

Because its the best phone VM has/had the could be rooted and rom'd. I get all the mms ppl send my way, there is no LTE out here so wifi and 3g are just fine ty, it's fast and roomy screen and mem wise and sounds great for my tunes. As a gps it beats my car nav by leagues and fits in my pocket. 35$ a mo , it aint rocket science.
Untill VM gets something else I can root and rom with the latest CM JB, I am happy just where I am ty but my needs are exceedingly simple.
s
EDIT, hmm tmo and the n5 are looking inexpensive

I started planning my upgrade yesterday... Wondering if the ZTE Supreme will get a development thread in the near future. I'm ok with Virgin Mobile's service (not a huge deal for me - I just need something cheap)

But like you I find that there's always something that doesn't work as it should. I don't know why I bought a 3D phone... It's such a novelty feature and I've only used it a few times watching 3D movies since the 3D camera is broken in almost every ROM.

But it is an okay phone for most intents and purposes... Works fine for MMS, calling, pictures, etc... Although my FFC broke sometime in the past few weeks (now it just shows the rear facing camera upside down)...

Meh. I'll upgrade when I find a better reason to justify a new phone... This one works just fine and I'm okay with my extended battery and huge bulky phone...

By the way, I'm running MIUI 3.5.19 and almost everything works that I have the ability to test (don't live in a 4g area and of course 3d camera is broken)

I figure what can a new android phone do that my current phone can not, very little if anything. Rom development has slowed but there is still a wealth of options. A number of these options are stable with respectable battery life and no mms issues. The slow data can be attributed more to the carrier then the phone, and wimax if available in your area is not slatted to be shut-off till 2015. I am happy with this phone and intend on holding on to it until at least 2015.

This. Except I'll probably upgrade a little sooner.

Because Im waiting for a worthy phone to upgrade to. If Best Buy gets the Supreme i'll trade up to it, if not i'll wait for a better phone.

Personally I'm waiting till the Nexus 5 comes out and then switching to T-Mo. Virgin Mobile service is crap in my area.

The phone itself isn't too bad at all, it's just got a couple of issues I absolutely hate-

-Sense. First and foremost. I used to LOVE Sense, but then I realized how the lag adds up over time. It's just redundant, bloated, and bad. I know I can switch to an AOSP ROM, but they're just too buggy for me. WiMax on Jellybean ROMs doesn't turn on without toggling on and off a few times, 3G drops out randomly, and it's just in general somewhat buggy. Also, MMS doesn't send/receive half the time on these. Just today, I got an MMS that a friend sent almost two weeks ago...

-Lag. The aging hardware shows sometimes. Input lag is sometimes ridiculous, and especially combined with Sense, the Google Keyboard lags.

-Camera. The camera sucks. I can't really defend it whatsoever, other than the fact that it's really the only mainstream smartphone that got a 3D camera. The shutter speed is too slow, it needs PERFECT lighting, otherwise it takes really dark/washed out/light pictures.

That being said, it's an amazing phone for the price point and if you just want a phone that's cheap and used for basic smartphone functions.

Can't wait for the Nexus 5. :D

Because very few phones have had the community support this phone has had and so between the info available along with ROMs, mods, and other stuff there's a ton of stuff to play with and so this phone just doesnt feel old yet

This for most of us. And the jb roms are not that bad (3d not working, meh, mms? Not a big deal, at least 4g works for most of them).

I'm just waiting till development on some of the newer phones picks up. My battery life is pretty bad (two 40 minute train rides brings it down to 50-60% WITHOUT any other use throughout the day), and I also get random reboots. The reboots are probably due to CM10.1 more than the phone but I put up with it because sense is ugly. My girl got a Galaxy Victory and I have to say, TouchWiz isn't too bad. 4G LTE coverage in my area also seems somewhat better than WiMax after having driven around, though I don't get either in my house.

cause its still new to me and a excellent learning phone plus its dualcore and Virgin only has the lg f9 and the s2 and s3 as dualcore phones oh and the victory & i called VM the other day & they said they havent stopped selling the phone there just out of stock , it seems like they are always out of stock but she said the high demand of the phone they recieve its defiantly not a phone there gonna stop selling she said unfortantly they cant notify by email or text or call when they get new shipments in so just keep checking , it is a good phone if your phones running crappy theres probably a way to speed it up or tweak and play with it to make it better & to me thats the whole point of a custom rom and why Android is number one to me , ill stop ranting now but as long as the demand for our phone is high they will continue to get them in, unless she was lieing?

Missed out the reef

It's cheap, it works, and on Negas Blurom with buttered toast, it sounds fantastic, everything works and battery life isn't too bad. It depends on how you use it. Not crazy about any of the jb roms because of the issues with video playback and sound, but glad to have those options. Deving may be slowing down, but there's still plenty of roms to choose from, especially if you're new to the phone. I'll have this til it conks out.

RedBear's Evo 3D

But i did notice a Lte, Htc desire 601 is coming to VM if that happens i may switch but i gotta look more into it try and do study before buying anymore learned that hard crappy mistake from buying a Kyocera VM phone , will never buy them again & id reccommend no-one else either so ill definitely research first

Adding Usa maybe,

Other links just to get a look at it with specs its supposed to have 8 gig internal with a expandable sdcard, something i would want,

I didn't like the fact that the HTC one itself the pride & joy of HTC phones now didn't have a sdcard expandable storage or the fact that the battery is non removable

That Desire is for VM Canada.
It's kinda sad how the developers have left this phone, but I've used Mobster's roms basically since day 2, which have all been great. I suppose I'll be going for a Nexus 5 when that comes out.
