Root Why are you still on this phone?

The specs may be similar but believe me, the performance is UNIVERSES apart.

I have the iPhone 5S right now (that I sold my Nexus 4 for) but performance is obviously way better because of the 64-bit architecture. I'm on T-Mobile's $30/month 5GB plan. 100 mins isn't much but I use Vonage Extensions for phone calls on LTE. T-Mo's LTE in Vegas is consistently 26-29MB down, 9-12MB up and coverage is solid. I consistently get 7.5-8 hours of usage with 18-24 hours of total usage with standby included.

I still have my Evo V to mess around with new development, hopefully someone ports 4.4! If I had to, I'd use the Evo as a bridge phone on Ting if I sold my iPhone 5S for a 6, if they make a bigger screen.
 
If I was still on Virgin Mobile, I'd still be on this phone. I loved it. All the options and everything for it as far as ROM's and customization and whatnot.


That and I dropped it countless times, and it never broke :D Felt like a tank.

Since the EVO V 4G is from Virgin Mobile you won't be able to use it with Ting. You can BYOD most Sprint phones to Ting, but not ones from VM. :(

You can bring a Sprint EVO 3D to Ting, just not the Virgin Mobile branded Evo V version. Even though it's basically the same phone Sprint requires the Sprint EVO 3D version for BYOD to Ting.

If you end up bringing it to Ting you can use the link in my signature from my last post to get a discount when you signup. :) Or to make it easier, here is the link.

Just for clarity. I'm on Virgin but my EVO 3D is branded "Sprint". Does that mean I can bring it over to Ting?

My guess is yes you can if it's a Sprint branded EVO 3D 4G. But you might have to put a stock Sprint ROM on it first since you're using Virgin Mobile.

I would call Ting and get a confirmation - 1-855-846-4389. You'll talk to someone right away, they don't have an automated phone system.

Side note - after you activate a phone with Ting you can then put a custom ROM on it.

I just bought the ZTE Supreme since its half off this weekend so i'll be doing what i can for its development. I still have my Evo but im trying to see if i can get the Desire 4G through my geeksquad protection.

That Desire 4G is looking smooth. I would have more of an incentive to upgrade if LTE was available where I'm at. Sprint's map will probably remain dark in my area for a long time in that regard.
 
It's been fun boys and girls but I ordered my SGSIII today & it should be here by the end of the week. Good to hear that Mobstergunz is gonna dev for the Supreme though because my wife ordered that one too.

Aren't ZTE phones pretty tightly locked up?
I had read someone had rooted but no recovery or Rom yet
 
Happy Birthday to me, wifey got me the Galaxy Note 3 and folks like girls have said, bigger is better. Still going to keep my Evo rooted so I can keep most of music on it (have a lot) and listen through Viper4 so may check in from time to time but appreciate all the help from this community and hopefully I gave back a little of what I gained. Here's a spec comparison if anyone is interested ;)

Bootloader on the Supreme is a Mystery? i don't think it has one :confused: although i don't see why ClockWorkMod can't be built for it and installed.

PS. as a Dev i don't necessarily need a Recovery to Modify my phone however i want. I already added Performance Tweaks, Sony Bravia Engine 3 and a more from Mobster Rom. I like it :)
 
I love this phone. Though it's getting outdated, it's still kicking ass. I like the unique 3D feature though I rarely use it. lol

It's kinda sad to see the development moving on to the newer devices, but rightfully so.
For what we have, this phone still has a lot to offer in terms of custom ROMs options.
 
My wife still has this, I switched to a att phone on ST. She won't give this up for anything yet. Extended battery and very happy, she sees no reason yet. Thought last night we might be getting her something when the five year old knocked it on the floor, but it fired back up, again.
 
, I just made the switch I have 4G LTE in my area, I did not get the s3 though I want the cheaper route & kinda afraid of that knox bootloader so went with the F3 that is a root able phone, & playfulgod made a bootstraped recovery int2 I had absolutely no problem installing, Thank you all for great support as i learn & the Devs that contributed to my first awsome android experience, ive went from a pcd Venture, kyocera Rise Horrible company & phone To a Htc Evo V, i will still come here to try any roms devs make & participate, Virgin offered me 35.00 off my new phone to upgrade when i called & said i was shopping for a new phone or carrier & to take me off auto bill pay the F3 was 69.99 at the time at radioshack i bought it & called & they credited me a month

Like i said ill still contribute here but slowly moving on 😜

Installing CM 11 kitkat is enough of a reason to stay on this phone. Dastin Has done a great job and it is only the first build. This phone runs great on it.
While Antutu is not THE answer, I am getting scores in the 10000s and I am running 1188Mhz on conservative Governor.
Runs very smooth.
 
wimax is actually better than ever in the Philly area. Can't see giving this up just yet now that it is actually getting good. Still running stock ics with MiRaGe kernel. Battery life is very good but thinking of picking up an Anker 1900 mAh battery to see if it is significantly better (accessories for this phone are practically free ... another plus). Stock rom is a bit boring, thought I might play with a different rom over the break (as long 4G works and hopefully still works with mrg's kernel).
 
Think both straight talk & net 10 where speed capping at 1.5gigs & straight talk shutting off data completely on people who went over 2gigs plus if you go with a prepaid Provider you should go with one that offers 4g LTE I do not believe neither straight talk nor net 10 have this , Virgin Mobile does, Boost Mobile, Aio , Metro, & T-Mobile all Do but some are better then others Metro is T-Mobile, Aio is At&t , Boost & Virgin Sprint & Straight talk & Net10 can be either At&t or T-Mobile I believe depending on which Sim card you get from them
