Why did they not give the Bionic Webtop?

I bet the real reason the Bionic doesn't have it is because VZW would rather you buy a mobile broadband adapter and pay an extra monthly fee and just use your laptop / netbook instead of turning your phone into one.

Doubt it, most likely ATT got an exclusivity deal with Motorola for the feature. Motorola said they will be implementing it into more of their smartphones later in the year (for other carriers).

He said that the Atrix can do webtop mode because of AT&T's gsm network. (voice and data at the same time). The bionic will not have motoblur though.

In the Atrix forum there's a post from a guy who got official training on the Atrix by Motorola (and it's a great read). I figured the above quote from Motorola about the Bionic would be of interest here.

What I gather is that the Bionic didn't get webtop because of voice/data compatibility on Verizon...not a lack of hardware. Also, Verizon is allowing voice/data at the same time when data is LTE. So because of this new decision by Verizon, and the Bionic's hardware...webtop may be possible on the Bionic (if even through a hack).

Lastly - from Motorola's mouth, "BIONIC = NO BLUR!!"

Can you link this post? I'd like to check it out. I'm definatley thinking that I want the Bionic- can't wait to dump Sprint...

Well with the laptop dock seemingly coming in at an actual price of $300 on contract webtop is looking even less attractive. Sure there will be a cheaper dock for the Atrix, but to make the webtop function portable you're at least carrying around a few wires along with the dock and the phone.
But me likey no Blur, which is what I thought since the official pics of the Bionic did not show the Blur launcher.

Never considered the voice/data issue as a reason to not be able to run Webtop. But I'm def happy to hear that the Bionic is going to be Blur-less.
