Why do people blare music?

Anyone who is putting speakers on the outside of their vehicle to blast distorted music as loudly as possible is an idiot, period, full stop.

Those that intentionally play music loudly enough for others to hear aren't much better.

With that said, some music just sounds better loud, and when the weather's nice and I'm in a good mood, there's nothing I like better than driving down the road with my top down, listening to some tunes at theatre-hall volume. Just the other day, I was listening to Underworld's "Born Slippy," which is an older song but an absolute classic in its genre IMO, and thinking that it's really the sort of song that sounds immeasurably better when played loud with clean, powerful bass.

The difference is that I'll turn it down when I'm not on the interstate -- when the only person that can hear it is me. Seems like an obvious matter of common courtesy.

When I used to drive, I had a Bose system installed into my car - was well worth the money. I only listened to it at a reasonably high volume when I was on the highway so that I could just jam out and relax while driving. Otherwise, my music is kept to a very low volume.

I hate sitting on the NYC subway going to work and you have these dumb ass kids blasting music from their shitty iPod earbuds. Like seriously!? It's 7 AM and nobody really cares to hear your bullshit.

My heart goes out to you on the tinnitus; I used to have that, big time (sudden, sporadic but regular, over a period of 11 months, loud sounds in the military years ago).

An accidental cure came to me several years ago when my doctor suggested niacin in fairly high doses as an alternative to statin drugs for cholesterol. The sounds, ringing and hissing, etc, gradually diminished over several weeks as I took the niacin in increased doses.

Not much of anything at all when I got up to a full 3 grams per day after about two and a half months.

Doc says he gets reports of that from happy people about "one in four" who can't tolerate statins and go to the niacin (slow release).

This may be a dumb question, but can you get it OTC, and does it have any ill effects? I would love to try it. I am way to young to have the hearing loss that I do, and really would love to try and make it better if possible. I always believed it was un-fixable....

People who play their music so loud in their cars that everyone outside the car can hear it simply want to share their bad taste in music.

Many of them are the same guys who drive tiny foreign cars and remove parts of their mufflers so the cars are really loud, too.

I'm glad this isn't one of those issues we are split on.

Accidents will happen and we are *all* inconsiderate in some way even if not intentionally..

However, the way my town works.. I don't know if calling the police will do much good.. there are a couple different people who do it on my street.. and most of them seem somewhat close nit.

Morons of a feather aggravate the hell out of people together?

I am by ever definition a metal fan.. So.. I almost feel like It is my birthright to play music loud.... However, I am not going to play something loud if A. it bothers other people and B. sounds like crap..

The idea of blaring disturbed, rammstien, or cradle of filth at max volume and it coming out as horrible as the music people around here play seems like blasphemy to me..

While I can still enjoy listening to the radio.. not everything has to be a 25 megabyte 1000 kbs for a 4 minute song.... The idea of completely sacrificing quality for volume makes me puke..

It wasn't until I really got interested in buying a set of decent headphones that I began to realize that, if you have to play it max volume to achieve the desired effect.. something is wrong..

Then again.. My 90$ set of Audio Technica's probably cost more than most of these peoples entire car sound system.

2 am? You're very kind to them.

Well because it is a college apartment complex... I extend it for that long. Depending on the day, I may not be so nice to them anymore since I have 4 classes on Friday starting this semester. Sometimes they would have parties on Thursdays. This semester though... 2AM will be far too long since my first class on Friday starts at 9AM.

I bought these Bose Around-Ear headphones a while back off eBay and I swear they were probably one of the best purchases I had ever made.

Yet another symptom of the general lack of respect people have for others these days. I would never dream of playing something loud enough for my neighbors or someone in the next car to hear.

I have very sensitive hearing and regularly end up in physical pain from some idiot blasting his / her radio on the road. Getting caught in traffic next to someone like that ruins my mood fast.

Then there's the damage they do to their own hearing :/ There's so many unavoidable loud noises that damage our hearing these days, I just can't imagine anyone doing that to themselves on purpose.

Lol... it is kinda funny.. I actually went to the audio technica website.. I then was reminded I got my pair on sale on amazon.. they normally retail like 160$..

So my headphones.. are worth about 4 of their car sound systems in some cases..

I personally don't trust ebay but, I'm not going to discourage people from using them.. you do get some great deals.

Again I'm not trying to say that cost = quality however, there is a major difference between a product designed to play quality music such as bose, audio technia, koss and others.. and the 35$ PA speaker people wire up..

And my audiotechnica's don't cover my whole ears.. however they do cover most of them. I highly enjoy them, it is very nice to have headphones that when I play a song, I can distinguish to some degree what quality the file. I can't claim to be any sort of audiohpile.. however, I can say that I never realized the difference in quality file to file until I started using higher quality headphones. Totally worth every penny.

I deff agree with this for sure.

I don't know if I would say that I blare my music, however I do like to crank it up and rock out.

Your not going to hear me coming from a mile away or anything but it might have bit of leakage at the stop light every now and then.

Also, happy birthday snow_fox

I want a speaker on the outside of my car, I think it would be awesome. Especially if I attached a mic to it so I could use it as a loudspeaker. Why? The same reason I purposely point one of my window shield wiper jets towards passerbys, it's fun.

Who doesn't love getting shot with wiper-fluid by a passing car?

lol.

I'd be happier if I wasn't spoiled rotten.

I'm 22 and I'm worse than a five year old who doesn't get its way.

I love playing my music loud, I love in when it feels like the bass is punching you. Right now only my home stereo is worth turning up. That being said, I never play my music too loud after dark, and whenever I play it I make sure all my windows are closed regardless of volume. When I turn it up to its max I know people walking by can easily hear the bass, the neighbors may be able to also if their windows are open.

People think they're being cool by playing loud music, that or they are really going deaf.

Sometimes sure. But some of us just like to feel the sound. Hell for me it started at an early age... 4 or 5, before even knowing what "being cool" was. I can listen to music all day.(and often do) oddly enough, I enjoy books more if I'm listening to music. I go to sleep to music. Some of us, just love music. And some of us, like tp play it loud sometimes.

Tapatalk. Samsung Moment. Yep.

Salut! Tu habites a Paris, France? Je suis tres jaloux!... mais, j'etudierai a Paris pour un semestre au printemps. Mon majeur est le francais et l'italien. Je parle decemment, mais j'ai besoin de plus pratique.

By the way, your name reminds me of Amanda Bynes. lol

I guess I have to add to the conversation... why do people play their music so loudly at parties to the point where you can barely hear the person in front of you? Is there a reasoning to that? Whenever I have friends get together, we play games and play music in the background so there's not a dead silence when everyone's quiet. We don't have to raise our voices or yell at each other to be heard. We can have normal conversations. I was never into the whole college party scene, never want to be a part of it, and have essentially grown out of it.

I'm much more of a cocktail party person. :) Sophistication, fine wines and liquor, and mature adults. I know that may be snobbish to some people... but do you see 30 yr olds going to parties and doing keg stands?

Lol I don't think its rude per say unless you have the windows down and you hear people with f dat n up, suck my....you get the point lol

I'm 17 and while I am driving in my tahoe if beyonce or gaga or bieber(yes I am a bieber fan comes on) I will definitely turn it up and jam and have a good time

However my best friend alana is a big lil wayne fan and she plays his music LOUD AS HELL. I was in the backseat and it really did hurt my ears. When I'm in her car its like I'm at a lil wayne concert.

Its more of a young crowd thing 16-30 and as people get older they don't like that. My mom was riding with me last night to go to the mall and I was cranking up telephone and she was like turn that sh** down lol. She is 32.

Honestly I don't get why people play the music so loud. I mean the bass sounds good but in my brothers denali it is so frigging strong it hurts haha. And honestly I can't half the time hear the words lol

Mainly its to show off I think

I agree with that, especially where I live. I have 2 friends, one a roommate and the other a ummm... "cholo" as I like to refer to him by (lol) and they only blast music with the windows down when they want to show off or get attention from women.
