why motorola wants to keep the bootloader locked

Personally I'm not yet sure if I believe the rumors about a Droid X SE. Has anyone noticed that the pictures of the supposed Droid X SE looks an awful lot like a Droid 2 with a silver face?
 
i wanna say im happy with what i have now but i know if someone gets around the bootloader i will be doing all the same things they are..

its the droid x alright, they moved the Verizon logo though
 
I'm wondering if the "SE" stands for "Silver Edition"...

I can't see them "upgrading" the X anytime soon with how popular the original still remains.
 
Screw em. FreeWELL figured out how to get 1.2GHz out of the current X anyhow. It's in the 'All Things Root' forum in case any of you don't frequent that thread. They can keep that silver POS. I hate silver anyhow.
 
The same people would complain if they kept the phone where it is.

I don't know about but I'm glad my computer isn't still in KB.
I'm glad my car has air bags and traction control(well, sometimes).
I'm glad the plane I fly in has jet engines. Maybe Boeing should have stopped with the DC-3?

You knew it was locked coming into it.

I highly doubt this is the reason Moto kept the BL locked...

Of the total amount of X's sold how many do you really think are even rooted? 3% would be a high estimation in my opinion...

Most buy the phone, have no idea about root or the bootloader and never even stray away from the stock screen...

myself and others have it running at 1.3 for quite a few hours now
 
A Motorola insider over on Howard Forums (who has an extremely good track record) has said that picture is of a Droid X test unit. Verizon didn't like the silver, so they went with all black. Nothing was specifically said debunking or supporting the rumor of a Droid X SE though.
 
My next phone may be an iPhone for business use, just to have one.. I mean.. I hate Apple, but when the iPhone first came out I was on a hairline trigger to switch to AT&T... And didn't.

Now that its finally coming to VZW, I may take the plunge.

I'm still trying to figure out how a locked bootloader even compares to airbags and traction control, especially when both airbags and traction control can be turned off by the end user. (Sometimes it is as easy as pushing a button, other times it requires a computer.) OEMs allow this to occur, as these safety devices are not required by law to protect the end user (I think airbags are required now, but they are still bypassable).

Besides, a locked bootloader only protects Verizon and Moto from harm(aka, the government, if you continue to use the airbags argument), whereas airbags and traction control protect the end user from harm.

Logically, that argument wouldn't hold up. Sorry.

You're statement about knowing it was locked coming into it is a pretty good one; shoulda stuck with that one. :P
