Why Not Update To JI6 Now! (Manual update - includes Kies)

Thanks for posting this in new thread, it was already mentioned before in another thread. It will get out now better. It worked for me as well.

did doing this version of the force update, odin, make it not give you everything? I was told youre supposed to see fandango in the market. i see none of this.

Just wondering if any one with a non rooted, non lag fixed (in other words totally stock except for downloaded apps) try the mini Kies method to do J16? Curious before I try it...

I did the update and re installed the update package to root and it
doesn t work anymore. Anyone have a fix for this yet?

Thanks

A couple of questions:

1) Do you get an error message?
2) You loaded the JI5 with Kies or Mini Kies?

Hey guys new to the forum, thanks for the great info thus far...

With that said, I have a vibrant that is rooted, with lag fix. They where applied to the phone using the OCLF (one click lag fix) app from the market. When the OTA update from t-mobile showed up on my phone I thought I would look first to see if this was ok for me to install on rooted phone with lag fix. I found some people saying that it was ok for them so I gave it a try. The phone did not accept the update. Instead it just rebooted. There is no issues with the phone as of yet. However I would like to install the OTA update if possible. Is there a safe way for me to do this? If so could someone please direct me to the solution.

thanks

by the way I use a mac but have access to a PC with XP

Welcome to the forum!

I would use the Kies or Mini-Kies method. JI6 via Kies - xda-developers

No error message, when I plug in the phone mini kies recongnizes the phone, but under firmware it says unsupported device. Havent tryed odin...im kinda nervious about modding my phone,Iv never tryed it...is there a guide for newbies? Like a rooting for dummies? LOL Id love to do it but scared...

If you don't plan to use a custom ROM this works for many folks:

RyanZA's OCLF 2.0 - Android app on AppBrain

Odin isn't nearly as bad as some make it out to be. Not the greatest video, but check this out:

Also, check out the Vibrant Bible for resources:

[REF]***Vibrant Directory(Bible)***(10/13/2010)*** - xda-developers

You can get everything you need there to flash with Odin to the latest official update for the Vibrant.

I think you'll find Odin to be easy and more reliable.

Don't forget to get the proper drivers for the Vibrant as well, though if you installed Kies you likely already have them.

Trust me. The fear of Odin is misplaced. It is not "modding" or rooting. It's just a downloader. Very simple. Watch the video.

Yeah...robo21 knows! You've bricked your Vibrant, what, 7 or 8 times already?

Actually, bovine knows how cautious I am... He's really trying to get me to root and get adventurous... And I'm getting there.
