Help wifi/4G trouble

You nailed it. That is why my S3 is Rooted and Unlocked.

this has to be it then. i went into settings > more > app manager > all and then disabled a bunch of verizon apps when i first set up the phone. i also unchecked show notifications. root is not required to this.

It DOES suck with WiFi in that it tells you WiFi is connected when it's not, and vice versa, and it's ambiguous. (Based on my ATT experience. Hopefully your Verizon one will be better.)

And based on my ATT experience, I've had very good wifi experience. I do not get both wifi and 3/4g symbols at the same time. My wifi connects fine too.
 
Anyone notice that while on wifi, the 3g or 4g icon comes on. On my note 2, with wifi on, the mobile network icon would only show if I sent an mms

Once I connect to Wi-Fi and am on it for maybe 5-10 mins my 4G symbol goes away. I only see the up/down arrows lighting up on the Wi-Fi and not the 4G so I'm hoping it isn't affecting my data usage. Also do I have to shut off "Mobile Data" while on Wi-Fi if I don't want data usage to download stuff? Sorry, I'm new with this 2 gig data limit at Verizon.

Another poster asked where our phones were made, his/her in China. I went to check under settings to see if it showed where and I noticed my 4G came on. Can't find where mine was made so I'm not sure.

I do have another question though. I thought these phones were model SCH-9500 or 9505. I noticed mine says SCH-i545. Is that correct?
