Root Will the Spec get 4.1?

Well if I could ever get CM9 to boot and get things working properly then I can say that id try jelly bean next. The CM team said that they would most likely build CM10 for the CM9 supported devices. Jelly Bean isnt a major overhaul. Not like 2.2->2.3 and 2.3->4.0

Skipped 3.0 because honeycomb was never designed for phones and the source code is all jacked up, hence why Google never released it till ICS arrived.. of course its also not listed as an official branch. It was merged into the git with ICS's source(revert git commits back before the official ICS release and you'll hit honeycomb source code)

Honey Comb: Hey look at this cool new OS on the Xoom. Nope you can't have it. Nope you can't have source. Hey look a squirrel! Oh didn't fall for that one eh? Ok hey ICS! Ha! Made you look!

Lol. My buddy gave me his Asus transformer 300 so I've got ics on it, but I never understood why Google bothered with 3.0. It's limited and doesn't seem to be necessary.

Just bought a tf300 about a month ago so I got my ics fix. Great device for the money, works great. Root was super easy too.

Nice one. I was going to look into putting cm9 on it, so that's good to hear.

There is a cm9 build, it is pretty buggy still from what i am reading. If your on the newest firmware root involves going back to earlier firmware then re updating. Mine out of the box had the earlier firmware so it was just a matter running the exploit before updating. Also the recoveries are buggy especially cwm. The trwp seems to be the more developed and working recovery. Sorry... back to topic...yay jelly bean?

Which I *might* believe, except LG offers the restore tool AND they are the ones that designed and themed the version of Android. I'm calling bullshit on this rep. Verizon doesn't dev Android, the manufacturers do and some send it to VZ to push to phones.
actually Verizon etc commission the manufacturers to develop the OS and VZW has finally say on all updates b4 they get pushed OTA or released any other way. Meaning, if VZW doesnt ask/pay for a update/upgrade they dont get one.

That of course doesnt apply necessarily for fixes etc which would be covered by LG itself.

Meh. I won't hold my breath. Frankly, ics will be good enough for me as a stock on this phone. I can flash alternatives if I want jb and they get developed. The difference between ics and jb in performance will likely be lost on a stock rom, so it has no value for me.

I think it's very possible. LG did say all their 2012 phones that can handle it will get it.

I also saw an article yesterday where Motorola is going to update the bionic and droid 4 and razr to jelly bean. I think being that all those phones came out before the spectrum there is a chance we could see it.

I won't be mad if we don't get it but I actually think we will. Time will tell. Q1 of next year the spectrum has jelly bean.

Doesn't mean they'll do what they said and this phone was released before 2012

Mega, It was released 1/19/12

So your memory fails you. It did not come out before 2012. The nitro came out early december though.

And what commercial did you see for the Spectrum? I never saw anything about the device until I went into a store. Now razr, they had plenty of ads for that thing from thanksgiving through Xmas.

you just made me think of something mrB. How terrible is the marketing department over at LG USA by releasing a phone 3 weeks after Christmas. You would think everyone would release their products from october to december and then the down time for phone releases would be mid dec-feb.

Maybe that's one of the reasons its got so few owners? I happened to be in the market for a new phone, but you're right... So many people refrain from buying til feb/March.
