Windows 10, Yay or Nay?

OK, really at wit's end. Gave up on triple boot. My ASUS has Mint only I just want to dual boot it. All the literature refers to Windows as a dual boot starting point. Tried 10 times now.

That's because you DON'T START WITH WINDOWS when dualbooting a Win10 PC. I already told you what & how to Do it. Hmu on Hangouts for realtime help, seriously. Pm me for contact info

I like Thunar for bulk renaming music, but it works best when integrated into lxde.

Though there is a tool called KRename or something which is supposed to do similar for KDE. Haven't had time to play with it yet.

I would like to be able to right click on any file and verify it's checksum. Looks like there's a plug-in for Thunar to enable just what I'm looking for. Thanks

I'll probably just find some more mischief. :(
I certainly do.

Often, it's installing a new distro and having to figure out how I did something the last time (I go about six to eight months between updates/installs).

That's why I write and update tutorials for various things...

LOL... I use the same name on all the forums I join. I have a few things I the Linux Mint forums, for example, including the issues I've run into on my various HP and Toshiba laptops.

I also update every few years a tutorial on installing WordPress locally for a personal diary/blog that doesn't require an internet connection.

Truthfully, I'm stuck. Trying to run exe in windowless environ. Need to track down the right dll's. Wine's no help...the linux wine...real wine helps but then my temper shortens:rolleyes:

You won't be able to run ANY .exe file in a Linux environment. Str8 up. That's a big difference between the 2. You might just have to run your remix inside of a VM, but I wouldn't know how to make it right since I don't use VM's

Which exe are you trying to run? With wine (it's been a while since I've used it) i would just install the app through wine like I would on windows.

Probably a driver.. That's where I ran into issues in Wine. Installing PdaNet was a no-go (Mint 15..?? Barely had MTP at the time) but both Linux & Android updated their USB tethering capabilities and it's now perfect. Might need a paid app or custom ROM for unrestricted access tho, data rates do apply usually.

I got so fed up with Wine, that I just gave up the whole idea of actually using any WinApp while using my Linux laptop.

Nothing, absolutely nothing, that I tried to install would work with Wine.
