To get into fastboot you have to delete the recovery partition.
No, you can use fastboot to delete partitions from the partition table, flash stuff, etc., Fastboot is a tool somewhat like adb, you download it to your pc and use it to access fastboot on the phone.
Not all android phones have a fastboot mode you can access. It's mainly the nexus line that utilizes fastboot. I don't think the motion has access to fastboot but it wouldn't be hard to check.
okay thanks.
i just asked LG support where it could be located..
Joe: Hello John Smith. Welcome to LG Electronics U.S.A. Support only. How may I provide you with excellent service today?
Joe: hello John
John Smith: Hi, I got a notification that there was an update for my phone
Joe: how may I assist you today?
John Smith: and i downloaded it and said that i wanted to install it later
Joe: yes, John
John Smith: i was just wondering where on the phone i could find the update file, just so i have a backup
John Smith: i like to make sure i have backups of everything
Joe: the update file should be stored to the micro SD card, named 'update.zip'
John Smith: in what folder
Joe: on the root folder of the micro SD
John Smith: not seeing it at all anywhere
Joe: If it is not on this location or not on this name, then the update has a different location or name different from the standard path, at carrier's request
John Smith: it's an LG update though, not an Android update..
John Smith: so, no idea...okay...i figured that you wouldn't know anything, but it sure didn't hurt to ask...it would really be nice if you guys had a support for your phones specifically....because you general support people have no clue when it comes to these devices
Joe: Once a phone is manufactured, both the hardware and software belong to the carrier, John
John Smith: precisely...yeah, you don't know anything!...awesome, thank you for nothing, I would suggest you actually read a magazine on technology and not what your company tells you to say on that little screen
i do suggest being nice to those poor people who have to deal with me....you usually get more things done with sugar than with salt
Usually:
Userdata
Data
System
Boot
Recovery

There could be others....

So there's a partition called aboot
If you ever get into fastboot, run:
fastboot erase aboot
There's also one called rpm...and others I saw in that log. Will list them all out when I finish hw.

be careful what you go wiping..
if it were me, i would certainly attempt with files that are recoverable.. not just random parts of teh bootloader like aboot
so I assume we are making progress? or just more clues?
Still trying to figure things out.
On a side note, lg just released the source for the update.
Spend an hour with it in your hand and I'm sure you'll forget about/appreciate the small screen size.meh i might as well say it.
been trying to convince the wife to ditch sprint, we pay 150 a month for the family plan that we have. as far as contracts goes its the best, however money is getting really tight and so we are having to downgrade. orginally i was trying to convinc eher that simple mobile was the best route as we could get gsm gnexus and ride it out for 100 a month saving 50 off our bills. my mother offered us two slots on her metropcs family plan for 50 a month.
i am working towards getting out of sprint gunna sell my gnexus and pick up two motions, activate them onto my mothers account. sell her epic 4g touch and close it off with sprint, and work towards saving up to a decent phone like teh sgs3.
what does this mean for you? nothing right now as this is gunna go down over a period of like 4 months, but when i have teh device i can at least work on it to the best of my ability. why the motion you ask? its the cheapest phone that doesnt suck complete crap from metro, so if i have to wait 8 months before i can grab the sgs3 i dont wanna do it with a damn admire/attain/coolpad/ZTE (yes, anything by them)/crapbox phone. its gunna be hard enough switching to such a small screen and im sure by teh time i get this underway i can pick up them for 99 or lower a peice
