but if that kdz file is not for the LG Motion you may brick your phone, if it even allows you to flash it.

I am not trying to be a party pooper here, but I do not think you are the right path.

a working cwm is not our obstacle, it is the boot loader

if we get an unlocked boot loader, I know of a few devs that can have a working CWM in a day or two (including myself)

any way I am not trying to kill anyone's hopes here, but I am not too sure what will happen if you flash another phones kdz file, I am pretty sure it will not have the right dll file, so that it may not flash at all

if it does flash and overwrites the bootloaders (sbl1,sbl2 or sbl3) you may brick the phone

it is your phone, so do as you wish, but I just wanted to give you a freindly warning
 
The files name is :

MS77010d_03.S10d_03.P3032.KDZ

It is 578 MB,

And supposedly fixes the bootloader issue to allow CWM.

Any idea where I can upload it so someone can have a look?

here is how you can test this for yourself

download the MS77010d_03.S10d_03.P3032.cab that sammyz provided a link to
http://androidforums.com/motion-4g-all-things-root/608228-official-motion-4g-10c-d-firmware.html

then DE-crypt the the kdz file from the cab file (use the instructions in sammyz's un-brick guide)

then do a file comparison between the kdz file your friend gave you and the one that was de-crypted from the cab file, WinMerge is a good free file comparison tool

if the the two files are identical, then your friend is playing a joke on you, and us

well,there is always a chance that OptimusSlime's friend is some super genius, who was able to hack the boot loader and package it up for us into a kdz file, and he/she just happened to use the same name as the official cab/kdz file

or it is even possible that OptimusSlime knows someone at LG or something

anything is possible

it does not matter because the Mayans are going to destroy the Universe in a few days anyway

just to be a little more specific


you can en-crypt a cab to kdz file or de-crypt a kdz file to a cab using

UpTestEX_mod2_marwin.exe

you can decompress a kdz file to a tot/bin file using

LGExtract.exe / LG-P970 ROM COVERTER 2.1.exe


you can use a hex editor to open a tot/bin file, and extract certain sections like boot loaders if you know what to look for


that is how I was able to get the LG Escape aboot file

Time to tar and feather optimus?

(Edit) chrisjohn used the gs3 boot loader unlock app, might have bricked his phone. Can we clarify the boot loader problem by clearly stating that you NEVER use an unlock tool for the phone from another company....EVER. don't use any of the unlock apps from the market, chances are they will simply soft-brick your phone.
 
Meh. Its OK. The phone is awesome. I have a connect to mod and am picking up an esteem for 50 bucks.
