If anyone can help, Id really appreciate it. I whiped my phone with the intention of pretty much starting fresh, so I dont have much backed up.
I just flashed the latest CM7 via the ROM manager app, but realized i didnt select "add google apps" so now im stuck with no app market. How can I get the Andorid market app back on here? Thanks for any help!
thanks for the input, but i still cant seem to find what im looking for (android market).
SMS is stored in /data/data. Specifically, it's stored in a db file:
/data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases/mmssms.db
If you know a little SQL, you can even read the file, if you want. Try something like this from the terminal:
sqlite3 com.android.providers.telephony/databases/mmssms.db "select * from sms where address = '5555555555';"
Just replace the 5s with a number you know you've texted. Obviously, don't just delete this file. If you just want to wipe SMS messages, use something like SMS Backup & Restore. Of course, you could use sql to clean the file, but you'd have to be careful, and know what you're doing. On the other side of the coin, if you ever forgot to backup your SMS messages before flashing a ROM, and want them back, you can use one of the methods I've detailed to extract files from the data.img, then copy this specific file. Make a backup of the old one on your current ROM before copying this one over just in case something breaks. Don't say I didn't warn you.
Oh, and as for gapps, you can get it here.

see matt? and you thought a "wiping" thread wasnt any good... lol it ended up helping someone after all!!![]()

Lol fine I'll give you that....damn it I was looking in data/data but I would not have looked telephony
So more directly data wipe would wipe those![]()
) information in them.Right, yeah, a data wipe would take care of it. Now that I'm thinking about it, though, I suppose you could just delete the file. I wonder if it would get recreated. I mean, when you do a data wipe, you can still boot up, but with a fresh start. Maybe make a nandroid backup, delete the file, boot up, and see what happened. Worth a shot.
EDIT: Oh, and if you've ever got some time, and want to know where various data is stored, you can get a good idea, run something like this:
find /data/data -name *.db
That will give you a list of all db files in /data/data. If you know sql, you can view (and change) information in them.

Lol, I'm just showing you how I figured it out in the first place.
your mind works weird
jkWow that was not an intuitive wayyour mind works weird

Most genius' are a bit eclectic because their minds tackle problems differently. Folks don't take this the wrong way, but some researchers are starting to believe that history's uber-geniuses were probably autistic in some fassion. My older sister is uber smart, and she was tested and diagnosed with acute Asbergers autism. Shes fine, a little weird, but normal. Autism really is just "different" brain function.
Ok, I went off on a tangent, I'll stop hijacking this thread!![]()
