Root wireless tether, cannot connect

aarjohn

Newbie
I've gone through these and other forums at length and I can't seem to locate a solution.

Running:
HTC EVO 4G
CM 7.1.0
2.6.37.6-cynanogenmod-01509.....#1 (kernel)

I uninstalled the wireless tether app, rebooted phone and laptop (chromebook) and attempted to use the wireless tether app included. It shows no error upon launch (was erroring when wireless tether app was installed). I attempt to connect both via secure (WPA2) or open and my chromebook will not locate the hot spot.

I previously used CM6 with the app and worked perfectly. And advice or links would be greatly appreciated.

TIA,
AarJohn

In the least the built in hotspot should work. I know this is tedious but perform a FULL wipe and reflash the ROM, then give it a go. Let us know how it goes.

I preformed a full wipe prior to flashing to CM7.1 from 6. Do you think doing so again may remedy the issue?

From what I read these will not work with 7.1 due to the built in solution? I did try 3.1 (pre100) and 2.0.6 prior to reading somewhere that in fact this app would not work... due to the built in hot spot solution.

Half the fun of rooting is fixing what is breaks, right?!? Geez...

Yes, I would perform a FULL wipe then reflash the ROM. Outside of wiping cache/dalvik cache, performing a FULL wipe then reflashing can be a fix all when dealing w/ AOSP ROM's.
