Some other Chinese alternative was added instead...I kept wondering why it didn't want to register my Gmail account. So would applying a GAPPs to the tablet resolve my issue? I'd just like Market...I can work my way from there. And does anyone know of any root methods or any ROMs available for this tablet?

I can help you , I just put new version of os on 15 of these tablets..email me at nyraised@ptd.net and I will send you the rom and step by step instructions, just make sure you have a blank micro sd card avaiable first.
 
I just got one of these and I am not thrilled, but I was not expecting as much as I got. I will be looking at all of theses posts. In the meantime, since it does not work on android markwt can anyone point me to an ereader app?

Just google for Aldiko or Ez-pdf reader app.. ( for android )
 
You can also go to Amazon.com to get the Kindle reader apparently. I recently started using that and really like it.
 
I just received 2 of these WM8650 units. Green LED, Black Headphone port, and vibrates..

I was able to update the ROM on one unit, but the other unit will not allow the touchscreen to work no matter the ROM used. the 2 are identical. Not sure why it wont work on unit #2..

Possible the screen is bad? It works greatr with a mouse attached.
 
hi i have a 4GB 800MHZ GOOGLE Android 2.2 WIRELESS WiFi Camera MID Epad Tablet PC from china. When it came the wifi worked on and off, i contacted the seller who sent me new firmware, which i installed and now the wifi does not work, (keeps saying "unable to search for network") Can anyone please help. It has green led when on and black sockets.
 
Hello, I have a netbook with 7 wm8650. I tried to install 17 of the topic, all installed normal, but is a dark screen. Try installing then the Uberoid WM8650 1.5.5 with the code 11. But still with a dark side. What to do? Everything works normal, only the screen is dark in one piece.
 
Hi my name is Ixadora, and i bought a wonder media tablet WM8650 and i went to set my gmail account and the screen turned completely black. I tried shutting it off for hours and i reset it quite a few times and got nowhere. If anyone can help me, it would be greatly appreciated!

I need to know who knows a android 2.1 software that I can install as I'm tired of searching the Internet and do not get it because she has now placed a 2.2 but is a little slow .... thanks remember a wm8650 with LED green and vibrates:D
 
The rom located at mcbub's site seems to work for me pretty well, I have a green light, vibrating model. Just go to their site and look for the downloads link (I'd post it here but it won't let me). I've tried ones from the other sites and they don't work so well, hangs on the Uberoid screen. Also, I've noticed that using a 32gb card to load the rom doesn't work for me, but an 8gb does, don't know why.
 
Hey guys! I, mcompletely neW AT THIs. i HAVE a wm8650 tablet, android 2.2, kernel version 2.6.32.9 default, GREEN led light. How can I root it? I cant see anything with flash (a blue brick appears, with a question mark on it).. I can't use market because it says something about not recognizing a device... help! Thanks soo much! PD:ine came with a plug in keyboard,as well as a <pencil>
 
I went to this forum, they have a new location so I went there and tried to register. I could not answer the questions like who created uberoid so I was never allowed to register. The solution sounds easy enough but I have never had a problem registering for a forum before. thanks for your post anyway.
 
I bought the wm8650 the other day for xmas and it was already rooted. The wifi issue sux though my I tether my phone and it literally has to be right by the tablet to browse the internet is there a fix to this? Also my daughter wanted to know of a app or program she can do her school work with?:cool:

My little grand-daughter got a neopad 8650 from Santa and I have been trying to help out with it.
Have worked out a few things (thanks for the info re the App store) but
i would love to transfer a couple of movies and games from a laptop onto the tablet for her.
She can watch movies via a flash drive plugged into the usb adapter but is there any way to directly upload them to the tablet??? e.g. what format do they need to be in?
Secondly re the games..I have manager to copy the folderinto the tablet, but cannot get the exe file to open.

hello,

I bought the wondermedia wm 8650 as a gift for my sister for Christmas but wanted to set it up for her, but I have been unable to get it to work properly.

1) i havent been able to add her yahoo email account, every time I try i get an error that say can't connect to server,
2) I wanted to install android market and uninstall the current market app on the tablet. i installed market but cant get it to open. I keep getting a message that says program quite unexpectedly.
3) also flash and adobe aren't working properly

I was reading you forum as saw that updating the os may help. Im currently running android version 2.2 Im at a loss and need help. Anything you can do would be appreciated.

Has anybody successfully managed to do video calling on WonderMedia WM8650.

With the original firmware I'm Google Talk does not have video capabilities and I'm unable to install neither Tango not VTok.

Any luck?
 
I just want to comment that I emailed the service dept for help with setting up the Neopad 8650 and they answered me straight away and have been really, really helpful with their advice.
(and no...this is NOT a paid commercial...lol)

I finally found an image for the WM8650 7" Android tablet (non 3G) that makes the tablet rock! Installation is super easy but does wipe the device. Backup any data you want to keep. You will also need an SD card you can format. The difference in loading this ROM is night and day. No more strange Chinese apps, no more lockups or unexplained reboots and access to the real Android Market directly on the PC. Any apps I paid for on my Android Phone were available for download to the tablet now too!


Download Uberoid ROM.
Gamefront

Download SD Formatter and install it on a Windows PC.
SD Formatter 3.0 for SD/SDHC/SDXC - SD Association

Connect the SD card to your computer and use the SD formatter to create an empty FAT32 volume.

Unzip the Uberoid download to an empty folder on your PC first, then copy the files onto the SD card. (for some reason extraction directly to the SD card failed on me)

The wmt_scriptcmd file and FirmwareInstall folder should be on the root of the card.

With the android tablet turned off, insert the SD card, and turn it back on.

During startup the android tablet will read the SD card and install the firmware. It took about 4 minutes for the process to complete before the device rebooted into the new OS. Watch the screen because the SD card must be ejected when the firmware installation completes or the upgrade will run again after the device restarts.

After installation I went into the applications list and found an app for fixing the market. I was then able to go into the regular Android Market after setting up my WiFi connection. I found it necessary to search for GMail in the market to update the version contained in the ROM image. After doing that I was able to access GMail on the tablet.

Everything else I did was related to setting up the environment the way I like such as using ADW Launcher as my default launcher. Moving icons around etc.

* Note that there is a large clock widget on the home screen that will prevent you from putting icons on the desktop, I removed that.

Overall this improved the device 1000%. I was really disappointed in the tablet and now I am extremely happy with it.

Clarification: Others have been reporting that they have tried the information I have posted, some with success and others without success. Make sure your loading the right ROM for your device. The Tech Know web site has many ROMs to try. My device has a blue LED, WiFi Only and is 7 inches. If your device does not fit that description, you can still follow my upgrade instructions but you need a different ROM.

Would you happen to know a good upgrade for a Green/Red Version?

Followed your procedure. Everything worked well except for the wifi. My device could not scan for wifi networks.
