Root won't boot into rom after battery drained

About 2 weeks ago, my phone died on me during moderate usage (very conservative towards the end of the battery life). After it died, it wouldn't accept a charge. I went through all the typical dead battery mumbo jumbo and I eventually got the battery to take a charge.

Since then, I haven't gotten the phone to successfully make it past the unlock screen. In addition to the revived battery, I've tried 2 older working batteries- they all charge, boot to recovery, and EVENTUALLY load a rom. By EVENTUALLY, I mean it takes forgoddamnever. When it finally boots, the phone is really hot and the touch screen is unresponsive. The power button also only dims the screen instead of turning it off.

I've tried wiping the caches, wiping battery info, wiping the SD card, booting without the SD card, factory resets then flashing a new rom, and most recently unrooting then installing the stock rom. Every time it boots up (takes 5 min or more every time), it gets molten hot. Then, like I said before, it hangs at the unlock screen and doesn't allow me to do anything (while continuing to be a hot plate).

It all started when I was using warm 2.2, but since then I've tried reflashing warm, MIUI, CM7, and the most recent stock rom. They all boot to the unlock screen after a while then don't respond.

Anyway, I hadn't seen anyone with this kind of problem and I have done absolutely everything possible that I know of to fix this... so if anyone could help that'd be fantastic.

First off, welcome to AF! Your scenario is an odd one. If you're able to unroot it I would do so and take it in to Sprint, it seems like it may be a hardware issue.

Welcome to the forums!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

What's the current rom that you're trying to flash?

I just let it sit at the lock screen for quite some time and the phone has cooled down quite a bit.

It also says that it's 20 past midnight, April 6th, 1980. After not letting me do anything besides turn the screen off, it reboot on me and is most likely going to continue doing so

welcome to the forums!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
well if you unrooted your phone and it still is happening then i would take it in to sprint to get it looked at. it sounds like you got most of the troubleshooting done.

have you tried a ruu that matches your hboot? it will give you a stock rom and a stock recovery, but you will still have s-off.

Thanks....

and I have "successfully" flashed the roms in the last part of the first page: MIUI, warm 2.2, CM7, and most recently I unrooted the phone and installed a stock rom w/ current radios and whatnot

I used the method outlined here: http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all...ooting-dummies-guide-gingerbread-edition.html
sooo, yea I believe so. And I do have s-off

I rooted it a long time ago using another method, but I forget the name. It was an exe, I believe. And it's definitely 2.16.0001

Then I would look at the other Rooting for Dummies guide. The last thing I remember seeing is that you had to flash the s-on in recovery before unrooting but I could be wrong

Did you use Auto-Root?

ok i see the problem. the ruu that you used in the dummies guide is the one that gave you then new hboot that is what confused me. can you get into recovery?
