xScope, a multitouch pinch zoom browser

Just read through the whole thread. Seems like a very interesting project. Sadly I'm still on 1.5, so I'll have to wait for that update.

My other problem is, Google Checkout no longer accepts Maestro as a valid payment method, so I can't buy paid apps from my phone. Any chance of being able to buy it direct, once you've released the backward compatible version?

I suppose to work a version out for 1.5 but now busy fixing. The work I need to do for 1.5 is mainly graphics scaling. Once it compiles, I will send any one here an .apk file for free if you pm me. You have been very valuable for making xScope valuable.

1.5 doesn't support multitouch natively in SDK. I spend quite sometime on that issue and got nowhere. So I plan to release a version that supports pin - drag - zoom + double (or tripple whatever keeps zooming if clicking) for 1.5.
I kinda feel that the Google engineer failed on the multitouch issue for pre-2.0 OS. On system level, all it needs to do and is supposed to do is reporting which part of the screen is touched no matter how many points on screen. Actually it does sense all touches only later in the OS stack it discards those signals.

Got my replacement Droid. First thing I did at the store was download xScope. No problems even after powering down and then back. As I step back, there really is no way that xScope could prevent my Droid from booting up, especially after I wiped all the data and returned to factory settings. Looking forward to continuing to use xScope as it grows and develops. Steve

(And I did many battery pulls and factory resets to try to straighten this out - to no avail...)

Thanks for clarifying.

I love the updates, one of my daily rituals is go to the market to see what updates are available. You are by far the most consistent and hardest working dev of all the apps I have installed. My question is once in the photo gallery is there a way to scroll through the pictures or do I have to hit the back button and go through the photos 1 by 1? Wow seems like it was just yesterday when I asked you through this thread if it was possible to use your browser for photos.

I know there is no multitouch in the 1.5 SDK, but I'm sure there's some way to code it to work on the Hero, if no other 1.5 phone? Like the Dolphin Browser's multitouch works on the Hero just as it does on the Droid. But then again, its the only app I know that utilizes multitouch from the market...

Anyways, so the 1.5 version will not have multitouch on it at all? Or is it still a possibility?

I am doing research on this one for quite sometime. Anyone knows how to do it, let us know.
In SDK 2.0+, there is a function called getPointerCount() where you can detect how many fingers touch the screen. But in early version of SDK, it is simply not their.

Shrink,
This is related to https webs. I will fix this very soon. One question: will you guys be annoyed if it updates too often (like every 2 or 3 days?)
I have fixed several problems now but I am not sure if I upload it.
Thanks

i agree with the other guys... I love the updates!!:D

@xScope I have a problem..I've downloaded the file you have posted but i have an error) "The application could not be installed on this phone" Do you know what might be the problem? ps: my phone is not rooted. My phone (Acer Liquid , android 1.6, wvga, snapdragon cpu)
Thanks again!

This runs perfectly on my nexus one. Its wicked fast. Multitouch is seemless and fluid. And its fast becoming my primary browser. I purchased the full version this morning. Bravo!

Great work! It seems that the latest xScope has this problem fixed - at least for My Verizon. It is working perfectly :)

This browser really sounds promising but i own a Nexus one and did a search, couldnt find it. Please let me know if and when it will be available for the 2.1 OS

Are you able to search now? Weired. techknight was able to installed it. Thanks techknight.

I've been keeping an eye on this thread for awhile and would very much consider switching from Dolphin but one feature keeps me stuck for the moment. Dolphin has excellent bookmark syncing capabilities with Google bookmarks.

So my question is, are there plans to add some type of bookmark syncing? Either Google bookmarks or Xmarks would be ideal.

Thanks.

Yes.

I would consider the current work as mainly foundational. More convenient features and appealing styles are coming in the next phase. I will try to make it customizable as much as possible.

Dolphin is an excellent and successful app.
