Root Yep, gingerbread.

Can't seem to get this keyboard to work... I'm on Tenzo's xtrRCMix 2.1

do you need to be a froyo ROM?

It may be that xtrRCMix is built with HTC frameworks instead of Android open source. It'd be interesting to try it on Vanilla 2.0.4 or ELB 2.8, which are 2.1 but based on AOSP.

I tried the keyboard, some of the links were dead, but I found one that worked. Prediction doesn't seem to work properly and it seems to lag. I guess I'll wait until they get the kinks out.

So far, the new keyboard (included in Nonsensikal's latest), is driving me CRAZY and making me consider flashing a different ROM. I only recently ditched swype for the stock Froyo KB. That ended a 9-month love affair with Swype, but there were too many ridiculous typos that I wasn't catching before hitting "send."

The stock Froyo KB was the best fit for me because I'm not willing to forgo proper punctuation in a txt message, and the auto-correct normally recognized the contractions I wanted to type. But this new GB KB handles punctuation totally differently, and I haven't found a streamlined way to use it.

So yes... the auto-correct is really weak, and that is a game-breaker for me. If this is the future of Android soft keyboards, I need me a slider...

You could always install a new keyboard instead of switching ROMs. You can theme one here or look on xda for the Droid X multi touch keyboard.

Yeah, I've been sampling a few and I tried the latest swype today. Still, kills me that my favorite KB has regressed imho. Still, I'm sure it's something Google could easily fix or possibly already has fixed.

Well, the "Gingerbread" keyboard as it exists is a hack from the SDK. I wouldn't judge it completely based on the hack. But, as I posted earlier, I was equally underwhelmed by what we have now.

I ran V7 and was pretty impressed. After a day though, the keyboard and lack of camera caused me to return to CELEB.

What do y'all think of the in-call UI? I don't like having to pull up the menu to access the dial pad, bluetooth toggle, speaker toggle, and mute. Why does the in-call screen have to be so bare?

its a work in progress... maybe the dialer will change?

im bout to flash it now... downloaded it this morning, then went to work. i havent seen it since v6.

Awsome! Significant speed and smoothness improvements over v6. Hopefully not too long before enuff things work to use it daily :D

Wow. Developers never cease to amaze me! They work so hard to support devices that HTC and Verizon neglect. Without them the Eris would still be a puny device barely running stock 2.1.
Thank you Developers!!!
