Root You Too Can Prevent Liberty Glitches! (ongoing list inside)

That's a known issue, happened to me a few times too. Apparently it's from having apps on your sdcard - if you go into Applications and move the apps on your sdcard to your phone memory, it will stop.

I have never moved any apps to the sdcard.

My phone reboots after all phone calls
very inconsistent battery life
updating apps fails
Toolbox FCs sometimes

I love liberty but the rebooting and battery life are killing it for me

I lose my 3g and 1x icon in the notification bar, but I still have a connection. It takes a reboot to bring it back. This happened twice in 4 days.

I also have the problem where market apps won't install the first time, generally twice does the trick.

- Linear theme is missing call sliders (they appear to be invisible).

- Switching from Normal Animations to Fancy Animations (or vice versa) will remove your currently selected wallpaper and restore the stock Liberty wallpaper.

I have these same problems and I am also on Nex theme instead of linear

My battery life is absolutely HORRIBLE on this rom. I love liberty, prob the best I've ever run, but I cant have battery life like this. 50 percent after 6 hours, and I have the extended battery! bummer...

Curious, I don't seem to have battery issues. Usage is close to the stock rom, rooted, with bloat frozen. and also similar to APEX

Behavior I have:

When opening the phone from sleep (screen off), it goes straight to the pattern unlock.

No sliders are shown.

If I turn the password off, sliders are shown.

Behavior I want:

Open the phone from sleep --> sliders --> pattern/pin unlock

I have this problem too.

Toolbox FCs sometimes

I love liberty but the rebooting and battery life are killing it for me

I have this too. Toolbox has FC'd on me twice. and rebooting takes forever compared to stock rom or apex.

Curious I also turned off boot animation

new issue maybe: Trading themes with liberty toolbox going to nex and coming back to nex (never used linear) upon reboot I had the liberty boot logo for close to 10 minutes. Got the chime that indicated the sd card was mounted and vibration but no screen re-paint. no home screen.

Battery pull, to force restart took care of the issue, power button would not work (or I couldn't see the menu)

Did a quick over view and saw nothing about rebooting every time its plugged in to a computer on "usb mass storage." Reboots every time. Other than that, no problems.

:)

Just plugged my USB cord in and it caused the phone to reboot, I tried it again and it was fine so it may have been a fluke.

I have never moved any apps to the sdcard.

I never did either (that I can remember). If you go to Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > On SDcard, are there any there?

Currently Reported Bugs

- Linear theme is missing call sliders (they appear to be invisible).

- Inconsistently experiencing random reboots during phone conversations, usually only a few minutes into the conversation. No overclock/undervolting utilized. Will be testing further total see if the problem persists, and if so, what parameters bring it out.

- Once all 3 keyboards are installed (Froyo, GB, Blur) the toolbox no longer switches between them. It will say that the keyboard was changed successfully, but it doesn't actually switch. The only time that a switch will be successful is when switching to a keyboard that is being installed for the first time. This problem is now confirmed to be reproduceable on multiple phones.

- Sometimes I have difficulty disabling the Rotary Lockscreen. It enabled just fine, but when I uncheck the box in Liberty settings, back out, and lock the phone, the next time I turn on my screen the Rotary lock is still there. Unchecking the Rotary lock box and backing out will sometimes bring back the regular Slide lock, but its success seems random.

- Switching from Normal Animations to Fancy Animations (or vice versa) will remove your currently selected wallpaper and restore the stock Liberty wallpaper.

- Battery Monitor is reporting Time Without a Signal as 50%, regardless of the consistency of signal strength. Please note that this issue has also been experienced on other ROMs (I have personally seen it happen on Apex), so it may not have anything to do with the ROM itself.

- One user reported experiencing difficulties using Exchange 2007 with Liberty. He mentioned that Exchange 2003 and 2010 worked just fine, but that 2007 "doesn't play well" with his Liberty ROM.

- Several users have reported problems downloading and installing the Verizon Visual Voicemail app from the Market. The app will download, but upon installing, it will say that there is one already installed, and that it must be uninstalled first.

- Wiping Data/Cache with Liberty installed seems to have unpredictable results. The first time I attempted to wipe my data and cache, my Market began Force Closing 100% of the time. The second time I wiped data and cache, the Market worked but the Liberty Options menu began to force close 100% of the time. Maybe there could be some explanation given of when it is and is not safe to wipe data in this ROM?

- Sometimes when an app is downloaded from the Market, it will download successfully but it won't install. This behavior has been reported by multiple users.

- Several users have reported being unable to add Facebook contacts to their contact list, as well as being unable to link existing contacts with Facebook contacts (with the Facebook app installed).

- Many users (myself included) have experienced terrible battery behavior on Liberty. This behavior is not consistent, as there will be some days when battery life will be amazing (3-3.5 hours of time with the Display on), and other days where I will experience a 20-30% battery drain with the phone sitting in my pocket with the screen off. Many users (again, myself included) have experienced an even sharper decline in battery life than this, with the battery going from 60% to dead overnight. Several users have reported phone "Running" stats of near or at 100% in Spare Parts after hours with the phone turned on.

- On the Linear issues, did you contact Bgill55?

- Havn't had reboots on phone calls but then again the test build I am on I have completely redone almost everything that deals with phone calls.

- Keyboard should be switched within settings, not the toolbox. If you want to install the blur keyboard use the toolbox to download and isntal it. Although you will still need to turn on the keyboard in the settings and the select it after a long press on an input box

- Don't know about the lockscreen issue this is the first I have heard of it and have yet to see it happen myself.

- Please report this issue to Jrummy16

- Where exacly are you seeing "Time Without a Signal", in batter usage? I do not even have a stat for that right now?

- Exchange issues are resolved and the fix will be included in the next build

- The VVM issue will be resolved in the next release

- I would not recoment doing a factory reset after installing Liberty as this will break BB and many of the scripts will no longer work. If you feal you need to do a factory reset do it but then follow up with a new install of Liberty right afterwords

- Market issues are very common and not necessarily related the the ROM. If you experience this issue you should clear your cache in the market.. Another trick is to try and open Gtalk.. for one reason or another that will kick off downloads and installs

- Not sure what is going on with Facebook but most of the time people simply dont select to sync all their contacts.

- As for battery life issues, before reporting issues I would ask, are you running a theme? if so which one? I have not had issues with batter life and it seems that a few do. but it is for the most part a minority. I would also ask if you installed liberty over the top of GJ or did a wipe/install

Did you move apps off your SDcard? this is a known issue with all ROMs for the DX... Once apps are moved to the internal storage this issue should stop.

Issues with the reboots on phone calls is more than likley an issue with services.jar... Did you install the data throttle mod or install a a mod to remove the clock????

It is also possible that a theme replaced this file to change clock color settings. Did you isntall a theme?

At this point I would suggest you reboot into the bootstraper and install liberty again without a wipe. This will take you back to the default files and settings. After this test and see if you are continuing to have these issues.

The behavior you want is part of Blur. The behavior you get is what what intended from Google.

Ok, I just SBFed back to a clean .340 and then rerooted. Wiped Data, Cache, Dalvik cache and System. Reinstalled Liberty.

At this point, everything seems to be working just fine. Time to check on previous glitches. Settings --> Liberty Settings aaaaaand... Force Close. Try again... Force Close.

At this point I'm coming from a full SBF and I'm still geting this behavior. I know that its not my Liberty.zip because Liberty Settings worked when I used it to come from Gummy Jar 2.5. I'm a bit dumbfounded, to say the least.

Did you get the latest Liberty Toolbox from the market?

Hi Kejar, thanks for the reply. In a previous post I mentioned that I found out that the liberty settings menu also requires the toolbox. That much is currently working fine now.

Also, thanks for taking notice of our post. We are doing our best to get as much information on our glitches as possible. Please take special note of the second post on the first page for the complete list so far.

Edit: I see that you actually did read the list. Thanks so much for taking the time to help us out.

i posted this on the main page because im not sure if its a glitch with Liberty, or something im doing wrong...

but i just had an issue with Bluetooth...

I can pair with my MBP just fine...and i can send files from the MBP to my X just fine...

but if i click "browse device" which i have done previously on my X, which basically allows you to look at files stored on the phone from the computer like it was connected with a USB...

i get an error that says:

"The device does not have the necessary services."

I can't download gmail attachments. I know the files are good but. I even unchecked the astro "allow browser to download whatever". Gmail keeps saying download failed. Does anybody know how we can the the documents to go app with liberty?

I can preview some files and pdf's but it won't let me save or download them... In preview mode, the download link on the bottom left corner is idle. It won't do anything. But the link to go to google docs takes you to desktop version, again I can't download it or save it.

I dont have a device that I can test that with.. Not sure how I can help.. Bluetooth is working for my headset and car though

I would like them to add the blur dialer to the toolbox, i NEED the t9 features from it....very annoying to not have that and i hate dialer one!

come on! you can't just go out and buy a MacBook Pro for testing purposes! :D ill see if i can investigate further on my end and see if i can help you out somehow...

loving the ROM though!

Sorry for the delay in responding to some of your questions.

- With regards to "Time Without a Signal", this can be viewed under the "Cell Standby" heading, in the Battery Use menu.

- My battery life running with the Linear theme seems to be fairly stable. It was when I was running NexTheme that I experienced terrible battery life, as well as more glitchy behavior. Also of note is the fact that at that time, I had come from Gummyjar 2.5 without wiping data.

I have since SBF'ed, reinstalled Liberty, and changed from Stock to the Linear theme. At this time, I experience far fewer glitches, and much better battery life. Of note though, is this fact that I am currently experiencing consistent force closes of Spare Parts and Dev Tools, when attempting to select them from within Liberty Settings. I can, however, still access Spare Parts by using the Testing Menu in Liberty Settings.

- I mistakenly stated that I was missing call sliders on the Linear theme. I am actually missing Lockscreen sliders. The themed rotary lock seems to be appearing properly though.

At this point, I can safely state that after a clean SBF, a reinstall of Liberty, and switching over to the Linear theme, I am no longer experiencing Phone Call reboots of any kind. I can also tell you that when I was experiencing Phone Call reboots, I was running NexTheme, installed from the Liberty Toolbox.

I am experiencing the same behavior. Perhaps this is not part of the basic Gmail functionality, and requires a third-party application? I know that viewing Word Documents from Gmail used to work with the Blur "Office-like" app.

as far as my issues go i am no longer getting any force closes in my market (yay!!) but i am still getting the occasional reboot. i have no idea how to reproduce it because it usually happens when im not even using my phone...

i personally have had no issues with MMS or SMS sending but i dont really use those all that often. i use google talk most of the time
