You're gonna wanna read this!!! How you can get unlimited data for $10

One question.. I'm on a share plan, only two phones, both Xs with data.but my bill is only 145 after taxes...don't need 1400 mins,i believe our plan is only for 700mins, we don't even come close to using that...do yall think I can get the data for however cheap it is but keep my actual rate plan like it is? I'm gonna call and ask about seeing if I can do that

Scratch that...just read airmaxxs post... Sounds good but not upping my mins

You may want to do the math though, how much is it going to cost to up it to 1400 minutes vs. saving $40? Even if it's going to cost you $20 you'd still save $20.

I'm on the phone with the rep at the loyalty department right now and she is applying the discount to all of my lines. This is going to save me about 45 bucks a month! THanks so much OP!

I've moved this to the Verizon Forum so more members can take advantage of this :) Left the redirect on the DX for a week so your fellow DXers can also see the promotion.

It worked and I'm now saving 60 bucks a month for my three lines :) The lady was the most knowledgable Verizon rep I've ever spoke with and she assured me that none of their representatives know anything about the promo applying to future 4g plans. I know every possible thing about this promo now so if anyone has any questions feel free to ask!

I have a family shareplan, 3 feature phones and 1 smartphone(me), will this offer work for us?

Is it a long time customer thing? I have a family share plan with 1400 minutes and 4 lines and when I called to cancel the only data offer the lady gave me was $15 a month per line for the 150mb limited data plan.

I've only been back with Verizon for a year now, so I'm wondering if they only offer it to "long time loyal" members...?

It would wokr but they would have to change all your plans to a 29.99 unlimited data plan so it's not worth it since you only have one smartphone.

I've been a customer since 97 so that could be it. But if you call the number posted above and just say you heard about the promo it should work. I recommend asking for Ursula in the Loyalty Department, she was of great help.

Yup.. it's true alright.

I called. I decided to take the direct approach. I asked to be transferred to customer retention. I had called serveral times last week threatening to leave to go to Sprint, anyway, so when i spoke to the retention person, I asked why I had to find out about this online at Android Forums rather than have the CSR's I complained to offer this to me? I had been a customer for 8 years, after all.

We went over figures and even with adding data onto the fourth line (my son's who has a feature phone at this point) I save about 50 dollars a month. My basic service is still 110 per month and there is no contract extention, since I am already on a two year contract, but I had to sign up my son to a one year phone contract. He still retains his phone upgrade. No problem there.

I save money. I gain an extra data line. We can all be on smartphones with no increase of payment. (My son will need a smartphone soon enough as he's a junior in high school and will be going off to college soon). The plan is good until 2038.

The plan is true. It's real. It saved me 50 dollars. Finally VZ competes with Sprint. :)

Thank you to the OP.

I did the math and with my phone and 1 feature phone(already paying 9.99) and 2 'dumb' phones, if we all got data plans the bill would go up 80 bucks, then if we got this promotion the bill would go down 80 bucks, lol! So not worth it for me, old lady doesn't want one and her kids are the other 2 and they don't need them imo.

Still GREAT find OP and good looking out on sharing the info!

PS i might still call as my girl been wanting to drop big V cause of how expensive the bill is. Not expecting much but you never know

Just did this. Thanks to OP.

FYI the rep I talked to said this ends tomorrow.

so like i said i would. sorry man. i just had never heard of it.

Apology accepted. No hard feelings or anything, you weren't rude you were just being real. I know how these things go on the internet, "my friend told me that this guy he knows heard this one thing that he saw while he was on the subway and".... yeah, yeah, yeah. Trust me even while I was writing it I kept thinking 'nobody is going to believe this' and thought maybe I should just wait until I had done it for myself to see if it could be done by just anyone. I know sometimes some people luck into things like this that not just anybody can get. I wasn't sure myself what this was.

I'm REALLY glad to hear it has already saved several people here some money, I hope it can help save even more people money before the deadline is up! I know this site has saved my ass several times... so I'm just glad I could give back a little something to this community.

So to all who thanked me, you're welcome...

(and the 'Thank you' button is just a click away... this means YOU Steven!!!!! haha)

;)

Oh and for what it's worth, I know they say they are ending this offer tomorrow, but if you ask me this isn't something they are going to be able to get rid of.

I mean sure by all means try to jump on this as soon as you can, but the reality is that Verizon is starting to price themselves out of the market IMO, and there is going to be a massive slide to other carriers, such as the shift my friends who stumbled upon this were getting ready to make to Sprint (I asked if they were going to have to break any contracts in order to switch, she said 2 of the contracts were up, and they were going to break the other two... that's like $175 per line to get out of the contract early. But even after taking $350 dollar hit, they were still going to save money by switching).

Some of the competitions offers are just too good to pass up, and they aren't going away. So yes this offer makes it easier for people like me to stay with Verizon, whom I admit does have superior service to the rest (that's just my opinion, not a fact) of the carriers. But I don't know that it's superior enough to justify spending as much as they are charging, which by the sound of it is only going to increase when 4g hits.

I was seriously debating a move to Sprint or even TMobile when it came time to purchase my first 4g phone. Now if this offer is truely a 'lifetime' offer, and it transfers over to 4g (which I'm crossing my fingers about, but not holding my breath), then I will absolutely stay with Verizon.

But if they cancel this offer when I decide to buy a 4g phone, and the plans are as outrageous as I've read the rumors to be... then they can pretty much kiss me and my 3 smartphones goodbye. But that's all a long ways off as I'm sure I'll be enjoying my Droid X and it's 3g service for at least another year.

I absolutely guarantee 1000% that the story I told is true, the 'Friend' is my best friend from childhood, and his wife is my exwife with whom I have two kids. I know, I know... sounds weird, but it's not like that. We divorced looooong before they ever got together, trust me it's not a bad thing, In fact I just spent the week with them last week in Jacksonville, Florida to celebrate mine and my sons birthday [we were both born on Jan 11th] together. It's not quite the traditional family, but it works for us, we are all very good friends and it works out.

Having to deal with an exwife id say that's great no matter how odd it mite sound. So many people can't even get along just for the kids sake. Its pityful how selfish people are even when it is better for their own children. I know its off topic but but I just thought you deserved a pat on the back for that.

Hey it's great to hear someone with an open mind for once. You don't know how much flack I catch over this situation. Soooo many people can't see the bennefit for EVERYONE involved in this situation. For me, hey it didn't work out with me an Tina, that's pretty common these days unfortunately. So I'm not able to be with my kids day to day to see that they are raised right. But do you know what else is pretty common these days? Divorced couples arguing and fighting back and forth over how the kids are being raised, and who is helping to raise them.

You know what I'm talking about. Everyone knows someone who's going through some drama with their ex-wife/husband and the person the other person is with... it's not the best part of our society these days, but I try to tell everyone who will listen that I got REALLY lucky. Even though I can't be there from day to day to see that my kids are raised right, at least the greatest guy I know on earth is there, stepping up to the plate to give them a good upbringing, provide for them (oh sure I pay support, but that's a drop in the bucket), and keep them safe. How could I have invented a better scenario than that?

Yeah most people want to make it out like he broke some kind of 'man law', but that's not the way I see it. Oh sure if she'd been hooking up with him while we were married that would be one thing, but it all happened very innocently, and honestly, to my absolute delight.

I mean how many best friends do you know of that have kids by the same woman, and are still best friends, eh??? Lol

Well, I just called 611 and when you enter a number or say what you want to do I said "cancel service" and was immediately transferred to someone. They said their thing and asked what they could do for me and I told them that I wanted to see how much it would cost to cancel our service (3 lines, unlimited data) or somehow lower our bill. He told me how much it would cost to cancel each line and then started reading through our plan, as soon as he said "unlimited data for $29.99 a month" I politely interrupted him and said "that's what's so expensive, the unlimited data, other carriers offer it for $9.99". He then basically said that it was funny I should mention that because until the end of the month they have a promotion of $9.99 per line for unlimited data that is grandfathered in and he asked if that would help keep us as a customer. Needless to say I said "yes" and he changed it over, the only catch is that all of the lines have to get the data plan and at least a 1400 minute shared voice plan.

Edit: It's the "Talk and Text Plus Data Promotion" only available through the Wilmington North Carolina offices, supposedly any "cancel service" calls get directed there.

I tried the same thing and the person that I talked to was a rock - no budging. She really did not have any advice other than to lower my data plan down to the capped one from the unlimited, even though she admitted that all off the lines (3) when well over the data usage of the capped plan every month (lowest was 450MB). I mentioned that I have co-workers with other carriers that have $9.99 unlimited data plans and all I got was how other carriers don't offer premium service like Verizon does and how they have fewer interruptions to service. I even brought up that I had done some research on different promos from Verizon and mentioned the $19.99 plan in the OP and she said that she had never heard of it. Go figure.

Looks like I will have to try back tonight and hope that I get another kinder CSR.

This looks like it would cost me about the same, but I would end up with 1400 anytime minutes instead of 700. I only have two lines on my family share plan. I pay $141.00 with tax and BS every month for two smartphones with unlimited data.
I would not mind having the extra minutes, but with GV, friends and family, and the fact that most people I call have Verizon, I rarely use more than 500.
