Zagg Invisible Shield

I put a zagg on my gnex the day I bought it. After the third day it started shifting around. It got so bad that it slid down to where 1mm was actually hanging off the phone. On the 4th day it slid almost 2" down the face when I pulled the phone out of my pocket.
I yanked it off and put a Verizon clear on. No problems with it.

That sucks.....possible improper installation? Didn't cure properly? I have used Zagg on my past 3-4 phones and have had no issues.

I thought zagg was a wet install, can't move around after a few days, unless you live under a water fall in a humid rain forest :D:D

It is a wet install screen protector that suggests a 12 hour period after the "wet" install for the shield to "cure"

Right, so how can it slide around after 4 days? Just not buying that claim, whoever made it previously.

Had two Zagg Invisible Shields. Didn't like either one.

Too much orange peel, edges peeled up and captured tons of lint... Premium price for a mediocre product, IMO. Lots of better protectors out there.

I'm surprised that they don't say "don't put it a pocket for 24 hours".

Maybe they do, maybe they don't... but the edge comment screams that!

What are the better ones out there that you hinted at?
 
Steinheil Ultra-series protectors are very nice. No orange peel effect, and the oleophobic one wipes clean very easily. Dry application and they aren't self-healing like a lot of the wet application ones are, but I haven't had a problem with them. You get two in a package, so when the first one on my DX got scratched up after 6-8 months, I put on the other one.

Also, it's not about the first 24 hours with the Zagg - over time, stuff tends to dig itself under the protector edges and lifts them up just enough for dust and lint to get underneath. Plus, I had horrible rainbow lines on the first one I applied. They blamed it on my install (which, frankly, went flawlessly) but nicely sent me another one. The second one, installed in the exact same way, had no rainbow effects. There are lots of complaints about that so I suspect it's a QC issue.

Frankly, all of those impressive strength demos don't really mean much. I mean, anything putting that much pressure on the screen is going to crack the glass. The only thing you really need to protect from is dirt and sand and metal from scratching the screen - and you don't need to be able to hold up a cinder block to do that.
 
I've used Zagg in the past and liked them although the eventual lifting edge is a real complaint. I'm not sure how the lifetime warrant applies in that situation but perhaps it'd be with investigating. Long story short I tried some of the Verizon screen protectors this time around and although satisfied, they just don't provide as much durability. And even more important to me is that my fingers slide on the vzw ones when I text. I think its more so an issue with this screen due to its size which expands the keyboard and I find myself reaching a little farther. The more "rubbery" feel of the Zagg, which may be a negative to some, helps me with texting traction, if you will. :D
 
I had my Zagg installed at Best Buy. The guy who did it had obviously had a lot of practice and did a great job. I did it in the evening and he told my not to use the phone until morning. The first couple of days I was concerned about the orange peel but it did improve after the protector cured. No shifting, no rainbow. I really like it a lot.
 
No phone covers or pockets for 24 hours. No heavy pressing either. Mine was applied at BB. They gave me strict instructions. No problems.
 
After the initial issue of my speaker not working because the BB tech squeegeed the solution into the opening, I really like this screen protector. I do miss the Gorilla Glass in my DX (and OG Droid), I never used a screen protector and did not have any scratches or blemishes on them.

I see a lot of people dissapointed with the fact the GN has no Gorilla Glass. Gorilla Glass scratches just like any other glass. My Incredible got a hairline scratch across the top half of the screen within the first two weeks I bought it and it had Gorilla Glass. iPhones apparently have Gorilla Glass and I see scratched up iPhones all the time. The fact that you had no scratches on your DX was due more to being fortunate rather than just having Gorilla Glass. All it takes is some sand or dirt getting in your pocket and getting rubbed up against your screen to cause a stratch.

The moral is no matter the brand of glass, if you don't want scratches, you have to protect it. Otherwise you are taking your chances.
 
I was not fortunate; I took care of my phone. The Gorilla Glass gave me extra durability. The phones that do not have it scratch a lot easier.
 
I had a DX that got a nice hairline scratch about 2" long down the middle of the screen. Gorilla Glass is nice but not scratch-proof. Considering that Samsung said they used fortified glass on the GNex, I suspect that the GG is not much (if any) harder than the Nexus glass.
