Hmmm, today was my first day at work with ZenEXP flashed. Battery life hasn't been nearly as good as it was this weekend. Usually I'm at around 75% left when I leave work (12 hours). At around 7 hours my phone is reading 70%.


Checked the battery use summary in ABOUT PHONE and looks like two things are higher than had been when Fresh Toast.

1. Cell Standby is at 55% and time without signal is at 4%

2. Display was at 32%. I've noticed lately that from time to time my phone's brightness will switch back to 100% rather than staying at where I put it manually (around 25%).


I checked Spare Parts and System Panel and didn't see anything out of the ordinary.

Guess I'll try for another day and see how it goes.
 
I had to jump in and say this is a GREAT ROM!!! (had it a few days) my battery life is a lot better, and there is NO LAG when making phone calls at all, I didn't know it was that bad till I got this ROM. and the speed of the phone just blows me away now.

this one is amazing!!! you should try it.

Actually, I would not follow this! (sorry Kelmar). I did, and the voice mails stopped being Visual, and I had to call in to get them. After a very long bout of troubleshooting with Sprint, (didn't tell them I was rooted and using a non-Sprint ROM!) They recommended a factory reset. So, I ended up having to RUU back to 1.5, re-root and restore from my nandroid. Good thing I made one late last night before trying this fix. Now my VVM is working again, and I will just use Handcent for my messging for now.

I'm using the 2.6.29-GoDmOdE-OC kernel (from Zen Updater) with ZenEXP0.9.6.2 and it works very well. I have it running at It really doesn't need the speed, so I've underclocked mine to get a little better battery life. When I do need to bump up the speed, I set it to 691 and it works very well.

so I thought I fixed my VVM but I am still getting text messages I really don't want to do the reset.... any other ideas?

The reset wasn't to fix the issue of getting the text mesages with the Visual voice mails, but rather to un-do a fix that didn't work, and actually made it worse...

The only fix I have seen is to use Handcent for messaging, and that allows you to black list the offending 9016 text sender, so it never shows on your phone or notifies you.

Nothing to be sorry about! At least we now know that it doesn't work!
 
I can't believe this thread WOW it exploded. Everyone has found the goodness within:D

Quick question; has anyone been able to send a pic using the gmail app? I tried, and couldn't earlier, and didn't know if I was doing something wrong.... or if I needed to use the stock mail app because of the gmail app issues. TIA!

I just tried it, worked fine for me, just took a minute. I sent it to my secondary e-mail address that gets forwarded to my Gmail account and it actually synced and showed up on my notification bar as a new e-mail.
 
Well, this thread has forced me to give her a ride. I'm fairly a noobie to rooting, much less using custom roms, but I've found things to be so easy using the Fresh Roms that when I read about the increased speeds & usability I just had to give it a ride. So far, I've wiped & flashed the ZenEXP 0.9.6.2 Toast Rom, the update.zip & the Voice Keyboard, & am waiting for it to boot up.

Quick question though, as I've jumped around between this thread & that massive on on the XDA site, do I NOT want to do the MMS fix or the VVS fix? I do use GMail but I can live with not getting updates in my notification bar, if I like the ROM, & just refresh it myself, or using it in the Stock Mail App. It sounds like the best thing to do for the VVS fix is to either switch to GV or switch to Handcent, which will be my first option if I'm having the same problems as everybody else, as I'm assuming I will.

I don't have OC widget, or setcpu, do I need to buy one of those if I want to get max speeds with this bad boy? Sorry for all the questions, I'm pretty excited about this one.

LOL. One more, would anybody mind informing me, or even pointing me to a thread if it's a long winded response, about what exactly the ZenUpdater is?
 
Couple of questions with apps since flashing this ROM:

1) Swype doesn't work. I get a message that it is installed for a different device. I haz a sad. :(

2) I'm confused after reading that thread on xda about the GV workaround to make it like VVM. (link) How do I set my GV refresh time to 60 minutes? I don't even know what it is now or how to check it. Nothing about reset to a specific interval in the app settings.

Finally have some time to switch between nandroid backups to update my PRL.
 
I'm getting the same thing when I try to run the ZenUpdater. Did I do the right thing by first flashing the 0.9.6.2OC Toast Rom or should I have started w/an earlier & worked my way up? I'm trying to find my way around that long post & figure out when the newest updates were loaded, so that I can see what problems people have had since loading it, but haven't had much luck.
 
this rom IS wicked fast from i've experienced so far. BUT i can't get Set CPU to work. i just get a blank black screen. When i try using Wireless tethering, i get a blank black screen. and also when i slick on Super User Permission, i get the same. =( help?
