I only see/find development on XDA, and that is going into a Linux direction.
Im in the SDX irc channel and meatcurtins from there is going to try and make a better kernel for the unit.
Everyone needs to get on IRC so we can chat in real time.

Can anyone test m.youtube.com on it and take a photo to prove it works?
Maybe it is best to say performance in order...

I started a live chat channel on IRC called #AndroidTablets You can find it on the freenode server
to join just type /server irc.freenode.net -j #androidtablets in a irc program or go here freenode Web IRC (qwebirc) and pick a name and Put #AndroidTablets in the channels box.
I received my ePad yesterday within 7 days of ordering to Australia.
Initial thoughts:
1. Thicker than iPad and case feels a bit more flimsy (creaks when ou press it too hard) but not too bad.
2. Screen looks great front on but goes negative from any significant angle.
3. Could not get wifi working initially. It would find my router and connect to it but no go in browser and wifi indicator did not show in status bar. I set the settings to fixed IP and it started working.
4. Wifi would drop out (very inconsistent) and I either had to turn wifi off and on or power down / up the device. I noticed someone else complained about this. Connection via ethernet cable worked flawlessly.
5. There are many setup options that are obviously for a phone that do not work on the ePad. They seem to have rushed this out rather than remove the options that do not work.
6. Market place worked well mostly but I got some errors that the SD card was not found sometimes. Re-Downloading seemed to fix this.
7. Had numerous freeze ups requiring reset pin hole to be used.
8. A number of the apps that require a keyboard to steer did not work, including the supplied driving game.
9. Screen does not seem as responsive to the touch as the iPad.
I guess it is summed up by my 11 year old daughter with Down Syndrome who played with it (and extensively with the iPad which she loved as well) and said Yuck!.
Overall, a nice looking unit for the price let down at this stage by intermittent wifi reception.
If anyone has any ideas how to get the wifi to work more consistently that would be great.
Cheers
David
lahrl,
Can you give us a time (UTC) when you will be on the channel as I would like to live chat with more technical users than myself. I have a few user questions and will be looking for update advice.
Thanks
WitsTECH is the company that make the A81 and A81-E. There is a thread about it close to this thread.
Hmmm.. I have found some differences between an epad I have just ordered and another on ebay.
The one I ordered - Wholesale-Strong Epad Tablet PC 10 inch Android 2.1 1GHz 256MB Mid UMPC Wifi HD Film
Other - USPS-Express Zenithink ePad Android OS 2.1 ZT-180 2GB - eBay, iPod MP3 Players, Electronics. (end time 03-Sep-10 00:16:27 AEST)
The ebay one has a blue LED on the bezel and also icons representing each input on the sides while the one I ordered doesn't. What's everyones take on this?
Hmm this is interesting because I ordered from digital deal technologies too and I have the blue led and the bar on top with the buttons....
What version of android do you have? Im pretty sure I got the old one... Maybe not?
I haven't received mine yet. I only ordered 2 days ago. What CPU is in yours? The ARM11 running 1ghz or the 600mhz one? I contacted that ebay seller and they will sell it to me for $235 posted. I'm wondering if I should go through them because they have all the right images displayed showing firmware and instruction book.
I have the ARM11, Mine is identical to the one shown on ebay. I would say the alibaba photos are just old and both people are selling the same thing.
I guess its up to you on who to get it trough though....
Good Luck
Excellent! Finally someone who has ordered through them and can confirm the correct model They seemed pretty legit when speaking to them and the specs look right. I'll stay with them I think.
PROWARE:
If you could give us a link to what youbought or the exact model# /seller etc that would be GREATLY appreciated.
I Think those of us still in the hunt are learning a lot by the early adopters, but can learn even more if we can compare specs with what the advertisers are sayon.
For example. I have seen some (very few but some) people say that for $100+s/h the eken0001 is a good deal
most folks however hate them.
I havent seen MUCH on the eken 0002 or 0003, but maybe its because people have them thety just arent reporting as such
thanks

Hi all
I am interested in getting a Zenithink but before parting with my cash I would be grateful if readers who have bought or used one could answer a few questions.
1. Regarding the resistive touchscreen - how sensitive is it? I have used an Itouch (great) and also a Iphone clone phone with resitive touchscreen. From watching videos I get the impression that the Zenithink's touchscreen is more sensitive than most resistive ones but how does it compare with a capacitive screen? Is it sensitive to a light touch or does one have to press down hard?
2. What is your practical experience with downloaded Android apps. By and large do they generally work ok on the machine or are there generally compatibility problems?
3. Can you run more than one app at one time?
4. Does the inbuilt Youtube software work ok - does the video play smoothly?
5. I have seen some ads that suggest that the Zenithink is wifi ready. Does one need to add a dongle or does it have wifi built in?
6. What are users experiences re battery life? 5 hours has been claimed but how many hours do you actually get? And is the battery removable/replacable?
7. Who did you buy your Zenithink off and what did it cost? (I am looking for a reliable cheap seller in Hong Kong or China for shipping to Australia)
8. Is your machine stable or does it crash a lot?
9. Do you think the Zenithink good for reading Ebooks? Is the software/screen good for this?
10.Overall are you happy with the Zenithink or do you now wish you had bought an Ipad
cheers Peter
This is sad information for me. My order has shipped today AM, not in time for cancellation. Confirmed with the seller that it is Telechips. The seller insists that it is 1Ghz FSB, Dual core (which i don't know exists).
Anyway, i have last chance to send back the item since the spec does not match with the time i ordered (good that i ordered at Alibaba).
I am total newbie for Android, never use it before. I wonder how can i notice that my item is slow or fast comparing to others. Is there good benchmark software that we can use performance index to compare?
Always thanks to everyone here.
