Help ZTE - Boost Mobile Warp Online Upgrade Tool

Alright I just upgraded I am about to try to reroot and run my restore. What I did notice is they rolled back the market to an older version. Looks like its the one that comes default with Froyo I wonder why?

roots not working on mine,,, im using all the same stuff i did before,,,, its saying device not detected,, i tryed everything,, switched usb ports,, usb debugging is on ,idk
 
Just rerooted just fine with no issues. I am running a restore using mybackup and it requires super user permissions and its going through as I type this just fine.
 
Word to the wise.
If you're rooted, don't update until you unroot first. Reroot after you update.

edit: nevermind, apparently that is the old version too!

:( their decision to roll-back the android market may be the deal breaker for me.. I like the look of the newer one that should be on here. Btw, does anyone else with B08 notice that their android market looks like its an older version?
 
got it now..... the drivers were ****ing up,,, oh and it updated the marketplace automatically also,,,, its a great update...

It should update itself.

But if your in a rush, get the latest(3.4.4) HERE. From the thread located HERE
 
I would have to agree b08 seems very smooth and not a single freeze or lockup yet. Maybe they finally got all the issues resolved this time. I would really like to see the release notes for this build but I have no idea where to find them :( I am hoping they will push a build out that fixes up the camcorder a little bit.

On another note Camera 360 is free today from the market and its a great alternative to the default camera app that comes with stock gingerbread.

My phone will not update....it runs through the entire process....it asks if I want to update from B6 to B8. The phone then restarts...I check the phone information after the re-boot and it is still on B6. WTF

It sends it to the server then nothing happens....thats the last thing that happens for me

One question that may be obvious to others but not to me.

Does this mean that the "apps * data" fills them self into the new update or that by " ..ran mybackup and restored everything back because it does a full wipe" means that you only tested the download "update" to see what it was and if it worked? If it is the later that you did, then you are braver than i want to be with the unknown ( updates ROM's and even apps; wasn't aware that my phone is vulnerable to virus's just like my computer.

Lastly does the type of device/phone matter when it comes to "Boost Updates"
Maybe i need to read all the posts again because i'm not sure if someone mentioned exactly what the update(s) do.

In fact can someone illustrate the process ie: You buy a phone that will work with a carrier ( is the carrier the same as " the network "? ) [ recently a Sprint store employee who took my boost payment told me: " Although Boost uses the "Sprint Network" it does not use all of the same technology available to Sprint customers only." That is not impossible to imagine happening. However is it true? Do we know and or can we see a side by side of what is available with a Sprint vs Boost?

How does 4G work with Boost?

If you don't mind will you all list which Boost phone you are using? Thanks!

MyBackup < First three choices, fittingly indicated by the red and white lifesaver icon.

Your apps and data will be wiped from the phone during the update process. Use MyBackup(or other) to restore after updating.

DO NOT use the above update on any other phone other than a ZTE Warp.

Yes, Boost lags in what Sprint offers.

4G. See above. It doesn't work on Boost. 3G or bust on Boost.

My phone is obviously a BoostMobile ZTE Warp.

Use MyBackup to create a backup of your data and and another of your apps PRIOR to updating. Then simply use it again after updating to restore your apps and your data using the backup files you created on the SD card.

Just to be clear (not that your post isn't, I'm just slow!), we can do our updates from The settings menu (prl, firmware, etc), and that will bring in the ZTE upgrade-without resetting the phone?

I wouldn't say that B07 is perfect though. I've had a couple lock ups and one random restart. One came after using Google Maps/Navigation, which I've seen cause problems with other phones too. My phone's Update System function tells me that I'm up to date, but the online upgrade tool is offering me an upgrade to B08. I'll install it if the problems continue--otherwise I might wait a week or two to see if they stick with this version or bump it to B09 or B10 in that time period.

Either way it's good to see that ZTE is working on the problems.

Keep in mind Boost has to setup their own backend to distribute OTA updates whereas ZTE and the means/method they employ is a more immediate solution. That, and I wonder if Boost does any regression testing prior to offering any of the updates via OTA. I'm sure they do as can you imagine Boost themselves putting out an OTA update that breaks their subscribers phones. So Boost OTA will be slower.

Either way it's good to see that ZTE is working on the problems.

So folks, just to keep things straight.

Your Warps inbuilt firmware update utility is currently offering B07
This one being direct from Boost themselves.

ZTE's web update utility is currently offering up B08
 
Just did the "hook up to PC" route, all went smoothly. Will testify in a few days as to whether or not it's faster/smoother.

OK, I just checked what Boost it offering via OTA and as of Dec 25 2011 5:30am EST and it is indeed N860V1.0.0B08

And to answer the "Does the OTA update "wipe' the phone" , no. Using Boost's OTA update does not wipe the phone. All your data and apps will remain intact afterward.

The whole process takes <10mins from beginning to end on a good 3G signal.
